3 Supplementary instructions for the installer This manual supplements the one supplied with LUNA HT wall-mount condensation boilers. Introduction The Modulo unit is used to convert a heating-only wall-mount boiler into a base boiler that generates domestic hot water thanks to a heater with a capacity of 80 litres made of AISI 316 L stainless steel. The following technical instructions and notes are intended for installers so they may make a perfect installation. The instructions for igniting and using the boiler are given in the boiler manual. 3

4 1. Packing and Transport The unit is sold on a wooden pallet protected by packing made of strengthened cardboard. The packed unit must only be transported and lifted by holding it underneath the pallet. CAUTION: - This unit is to be combined with a heating-only condensation boiler (LUNA HT 1.330), make sure that the boiler model is the right one for the type of application. - The bottom of the unit is secured to the wooden base with a screw. To unscrew it, take off the cardboard packing and remove the door. - The packing elements (plastic bags, polystyrene, etc.) must not be left within reach of children as they are potentially hazardous. 2. Fitting the appliance (Modulo unit + LUNA HT wall-mount boiler) Before installing the boiler it is necessary to fit the wall-mount boiler to the Modulo unit. 2.1 Assembly outfit on the Modulo unit Pipe connection set + 2 M6 nuts 6 self-tapping screws (fastening pipe connection set) 4 Seals G 3/4 + 1 Seal G 1/2 Side panels Crosspiece for side panels + 4 self-tapping screws 4 Bushes + 4 self-tapping screws (fastening side panels) Coil delivery connecting pipe Coil return connecting pipe Fill pipe 4 Seals G 3/4 2 Seals G 1/2 Condensation runoff pipe extension with sleeve and clamps To carry out this operation, proceed as indicated in figure 1 and in the following instructions: Take the wall-mount boiler out of its packing and lay it down on one side; Remove the pipe connection set on the top of the heater unit by unscrewing the two M6 nuts; Screw the 5 pipes on the connection set onto the boiler s plumbing connections, inserting the seals supplied in the outfit (after removing the G 3/4 plug on the coil delivery connection); Screw the connection set onto the back of the boiler using the self-tapping screws supplied; Raise the boiler together with the connection set and place it over the unit with the front parts aligned. The 2 M6 bolts must go into the holes on the crosspiece of the connection set; Secure the boiler to the Modulo unit: at the front with the side-panel brackets and at the back with the two M6 nuts; Install the two heater coil circuit union pipes and the fill pipe, inserting the seals supplied with the outfit; Extend the boiler condensation runoff pipe by coupling the pipe with the sleeve provided (fastening with clamps); Screw the four side panel bushings onto the sides of the boiler. Insert the boiler side panels and the crosspiece only after finishing installing the appliance. 4

Boiler installation Installation must be done taking account of making maintenance easier. It is necessary to evaluate the weight that the entire appliance exerts on the floor, taking account of the weight of the water contained in the heater as well. Keep a clearance at the back of 116 mm. Use the adjustable feet to compensate for any unevenness of the floor. The appliance should be located in an area where leakage of the tank or connections will not result in damage to the area adjacent to the appliance or to lower floors of the structure. When such locations cannot be avoided, it is recommended that a suitable drain pan, adequately drained, be installed under the appliance. 0508_3108/CT_0637 Figure 2: distance from the back wall After determining the exact position of the appliance, trace out the axes of the pipes with the aid of the paper template supplied with the Modulo unit. The template must be hung on the wall at a height of 1642 mm. 8

Toxic chemicals, such as used for boiler treatment, shall not be introduced into the potable water used for space heating. Water heater which be used to supply potable water shall not be connected to any heating system or components previously used with a nonpotable water heating appliance. No valve is to be placed between the relief valve and the tank. The discharge from temperature and pressure relief valves will be conducted to a suitable place for disposal when relief occurs and that no reducing coupling or other restriction be installed in the discharge line. The discharge line be installed to allow complete drainage of both the valve and line. If the system requires water for space heating a temperatures higher than required for other uses, a means such a mixing valve shall be installed to temper the water for those uses in order to reduce scald hazard potential. 10

11 5. Heater sensor connection To carry out this operation, proceed as described here: Unscrew the two control panel screws and remove the front panel by pulling it upwards; Turn the control box downwards and get to the terminal board M2 by taking off the protective cover; Insert the cable guide-clamp into the boiler crosspiece; Remove the resistor and connect the NTC priority sensor on the Modulo unit to the terminal board M2 contact 9-10 (figure 5). 12 6. Coil circuit vent When filling the system for the first time it is necessary to bleed off any air in the coil and boiler circuit. To do this it is necessary to operate the boiler alternately in domestic hot water and central heating mode with the burner turned off, proceeding as follows: Remove the boiler side panels Close the gas on-off cock; Turn the selector (1) onto the winter position; Raise the domestic hot water temperature to its maximum (Ref. 7 Figure 6), so that the diverter valve switches over towards the heater coil. Indicator (3) on; Open and close the two manual air vent valves on the coil connecting pipes (remove the boiler side panels). Alternatively, raise the central heating water temperature to its maximum (Ref. 6 Figure 6) and lower the domestic hot water temperature to its minimum (Ref. 7 Figure 6), so that the diverter valve switches over towards the heating system. Adjustment and safety devices The appliance has been designed in full compliance with all the reference standards and in particular, in addition to what is described in the relevant paragraph, the boiler is equipped with: Temperature and pressure relief valve (domestic water circuit) This device is set to 125 P.S.I. (8.6 bar) and 210 F (98.9 C) and is used for the domestic hot water circuit. The discharge from temperature and pressure relief valves will be conducted to a suitable place for disposal when relief occurs and that no reducing coupling or other restriction be installed in the discharge line. The discharge line be installed to allow complete drainage of both the valve and line. Using it as a means of draining the domestic hot water circuit is strictly prohibited. 12

13 8. Draining off the water from the heater The heater can be drained using the cock on the bottom of the heater that is accessible by removing the bottom front panel: Remove the front grille (retained by magnets); Remove the lower front panel by pulling sharply on the sides (retained by spring clips); Remove one of the two side panels and shut off the boiler s cold water inlet cock; Open a hot water tap located as near as possible to the boiler; Fit one end of a hose over the union on the cock and connect the other end to a drain; Loosen the valve screw slowly. Draining through the safety valve of the domestic hot water circuit is strictly prohibited. 9. Domestic hot water expansion tank (accessory by request) To eliminate this trouble it is necessary to install an expansion tank on the domestic hot water circuit. A domestic hot water expansion tank is available as an accessory. To install the accessory, proceed as follows: Remove the front grille (retained by magnets); Remove the lower front panel by pulling sharply on the sides (retained by spring clips); Drain the heater as described in 8; Position the expansion tank on the front recess formed in the insulation and secure it to the front crosspiece with the two self-tapping screws; Remove the heater drain cock and fit the Tee connection; Connect the hose and the cock to the Tee connection. 14 10. Cleaning the heater coil To carry out this operation, proceed as described here: Drain the heater as described in 8 (draining the heater); Remove the front flange by unscrewing the six screws; Clean the turns of the coil with a brush and remove the remains with a vacuum cleaner; Check that the magnesium anode in the heater flange is sound and renew it if necessary. Removing the heater In addition, if necessary, it is possible to remove the entire heater. To carry out this operation, proceed as described here: Drain the boiler circuit as described in the boiler manual; Drain the heater as described in 8 (draining the heater); Remove the front grille (retained by magnets) and the metal crosspiece (screw fastening); Unscrew the plumbing connections on the top of the heater; Cut the strap and remove the front shell of the insulation; Take out the heater, tilting it towards the front. 11. Filling the system Important: Regularly check that the pressure gauge (11) reads a pressure of bar when the system is cold. Open the boiler drain cock to reduce pressure if it is too high. Open the boiler filling cock (figure 8) to increase pressure if it too low. The cocks can be reached by removing the front grille (retained by magnets). Always open the cock very slowly to allow any air to bleed off. 18 Instructions complémentaires destinées à l installateur Ce manuel complète celui qui accompagne les chaudières murales à condensation, modèles LUNA HT Préface Le Modulo permet de transformer une chaudière murale version chauffage uniquement en une chaudière au sol avec production d eau chaude sanitaire par ballon d une capacité de 80 litres en acier inox AISI 316 L. Les remarques et les instructions techniques qui suivent s adressent aux installateurs pour leur donner la possibilité d effectuer une installation parfaite. Les instructions concernant l allumage et l utilisation de la chaudière figurent dans le manuel de la chaudière. 18

19 1. Emballage et Transport L appareil est vendu sur palette en bois et protégé par un emballage en carton renforcé. Transporter et soulever l appareil emballé exclusivement par dessous la palette. ATTENTION: - Cet appareil doit être accouplé à une chaudière à condensation version chauffage uniquement (modèle LUNA HT 1.330); s assurer que le modèle de chaudière correspond au type d application. - Le fond de l appareil est fixé à la base en bois avec une vis. Pour desserrer cette vis, dégager l emballage en carton et enlever la porte. - Ne pas laisser les parties de l emballage (sachets en plastique, polystyrène, etc...) à la portée des enfants car elles représentent une source de danger. 2. Montage de l appareil (Modulo + chaudière murale LUNA HT 1.330) Avant de procéder à l installation de la chaudière, accoupler la chaudière murale sur le Modulo. 2.1 Nécessaire pour le montage présent sur le Modulo Groupe connexion tubes + 2 écrous M6 6 vis autotaraudeuses (fixation groupe connexion tubes) 4 joints d étanchéité G 3/4 + 1 joint d étanchéité G 1/2 Flancs Traverse pour flancs + 4 vis autotaraudeuses 4 bagues + 4 vis autotaraudeuses (fixation flancs) Tuyau de raccordement départ serpentin Tuyau de raccordement retour serpentin Tuyau de remplissage 4 joints d étanchéité G 3/4 2 joints d étanchéité G 1/2 Rallonge tuyau d évacuation condensation avec manchon et colliers. Pour effectuer cette opération, procéder en suivant les indications figure 1 et les instructions ciaprès: Sortir la chaudière de son emballage et la poser sur un côté; Déposer le groupe de connexion des tuyaux qui se trouvent sur la partie supérieure du module ballon en dévissant les deux écrous M6; Visser les 5 tuyaux qui se trouvent sur le groupe de connexion sur les raccords hydrauliques de la chaudière en installant les joints fournis (après avoir déposé le bouchon G 3/4 présent sur le raccord de départ du serpentin); Visser le groupe de connexion à la partie arrière de la chaudière en utilisant les vis autotaraudeuses fournies; Soulever la chaudière avec le groupe de connexion et la placer au-dessus du module en alignant les parties avant. Les 2 vis M6 doivent entrer dans les orifices prévus à cet effet sur la traverse du groupe de connexion; Fixer la chaudière au Modulo : à l avant à l aide des étriers bloque-flancs et à l arrière avec deux écrous M6; Installer les deux tubes réunissant le circuit serpentin du ballon et le tube de remplissage en installant les joints fournis prévus à cet effet; Prolonger le tube d évacuation de la condensation de la chaudière en emboîtant le tube avec manchon fourni (blocage par colliers); Visser les quatre bagues bloquant les petits flancs sur les côtés de la chaudière. Installer les flancs de la chaudière et la traverse uniquement après avoir terminé l installation de l appareil. 19

Installation de la chaudière Procéder à l installation en assurant un entretien aisé. Calculer le poids que l appareil complet exerce sur le sol en tenant compte également du poids de l eau contenue dans le ballon. Laisser un espace de 116 mm à l arrière. Agir sur les pieds réglables pour compenser toute dénivellation du sol. L appareil doit être monté dans un endroit où la fuite éventuelle du réservoir et des connexions ne risque pas d endommager la zone adjacente à l appareil ou les planchers inférieurs de la structure. Il est interdit d introduire des produits chimiques toxiques, comme ceux utilisés pour le traitement des chauffe-eau, dans l eau potable utilisée pour le chauffage des locaux. Le chauffe-eau utilisé pour fournir de l eau potable ne doit en aucun cas être raccordé à un système ou des composants de chauffage quelconques utilisés avec un appareil pour chauffer l eau non potable. Aucune vanne ne doit être placée entre la vanne de sécurité et le réservoir. Les refoulements de la vanne thermostatique ou du limiteur de pression doivent être véhiculés vers en endroit où ils pourront être évacués lors de la décharge, en veillant à ne monter aucun manchon de réduction ou autres restrictions dans la conduite de refoulement. La conduite de refoulement doit être installée de manière à permettre l évacuation complète de la vanne et de la conduite. Si le système nécessite de l eau pour chauffer les locaux à des températures supérieures à celles requises pour d autres usages, il faudra installer un moyen comme un mélangeur, pour tempérer l eau pour les autres usages, afin de réduire le risque de s ébouillanter. 25

26 5. Raccordement sonde ballon Pour effectuer cette opération, procéder de la façon suivante : Desserrer les deux vis du panneau de commande et déposer le panneau avant en tirant vers le haut; Tourner le boîtier de commande vers le bas et accéder à la plaque à bornes M2 en ôtant le couvercle de protection; Introduire le passe-serre-câble dans la traverse de la chaudière; Relier la sonde NTC de priorité sanitaire qui se trouve sur le Module aux bornes 9-10 de la plaque à bornes M2 (figure 5) après avoir ôté la résistance.
