The Comfort Index This index would allow us to quantify, in a reliable fashion, the comfort of Montreal s citizens and their families at home and in their living environment. This index will allow us to compare the different modes of heating, air conditioning, water heaters, the usage of different home appliances and other equipment in relation to their required energy source.
The Comfort Index From this index, energy solutions should come forth in order to increase the comfort of Montreal citizens and that of their families all the while optimizing their energy consumption. Montreal citizens will be invited to participate to the collective effort by evaluating the comfort of their homes in order to identify the «initial» index associated with it. We will offer measures in order to close the gap between that initial index and an ideal one.
CECR, La Confortable The innovative Centres of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CECR) program bridges the challenging gap between innovation and commercialization. The program matches clusters of research expertise with the business community to share the knowledge and resources that bring innovations to market faster. Centres advance research and facilitate commercialization within four priority areas: the environment; natural resources and energy; health and life sciences; and information and communications technologies. The only Centre of Excellence dedicated to the comfort of Canadians.
Next Steps The setting up of the index, of a small-scale test pilot and an evaluation of the «initial index» should take place in 2015. The development of the «Montréal, la Confortable MC» campaign will then be set in motion in 2016. The first results demonstrating an increase in the comfort of Montreal s citizens and their families should be presented in 2017 for Montreal s 375 th anniversary.
