USER NOTE Since the 21 st of March 2003, the methodology for tracking changes to charts and publications is by assigning the weekly edition number (i.e. D14/03). As a result, each chart affected by subsequent DND weekly Navigation Notices (DND NN) shall carry the reference number Dnn/yy (D=DND, nn=number, yy=year), on the bottom left margin of the chart and in the Maritime Chart Correction Register DND Item 567 (MCCR). The sample below outlines the new methodology for applying the correction on a chart and in Item 567. In the case of new or suspected dangers to navigation, it is important that all details be given in order to aid with future investigations. Full details include heights, depths, physical description, type of bottom and equipment method used to position the item. It is helpful to mark details on the chart, which will be promptly replaced on request by the Hydrographic Services Office. In Foreign Waters, report should be made to the nearest Coast Guard Radio station and may be followed up with a Hydrographic Note as detailed in Chapter 8 of The Mariners Handbook (HSO Item 584) to the relevant authority for the chart in use. a) For US Charts, reports should be made on line at: http://www.nga.mil/portal/site/maritime b) For BA Charts, reports should be made by email using form H.102 contained in UKHO Notices to: hcdfiles@ukho.gov.uk In Canadian Waters, initial reports shall be made to the nearest Marine Communications and Traffic Services Centre and a report made on line @ http://www.notmar.gc.ca/go.php?doc=eng/services/notmar/suggestion A report may be made in writing to: Director, Navigation Systems In the case of Information Canadian Navigational aids or List of lights, Buoys and Fog Signals In the case of new or suspected dangers to navigation or where corrections to Sailing Directions appear to be necessary Canadian Coast Guard Department of Fisheries and Oceans Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0E6 Dominion Hydrographer Canadian Hydrographic Service Department of Fisheries and Oceans Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0E6 Instructions - Francais / French Prière de consulter l OCOMAR 42-05.
