Please keep this manual near the system for quick reference. For complete specifications of the mailing system and all optional modules, refer to the Operator Manual PostBase available as a download from Francotyp-Postalia. Information on available product variants and country-specific particularities can be found in the Addendum to the Operator Manual (if available in your country). This manual covers all configurations and equipment options of the PostBase mailing system. Functions that are only available for particular system configurations are marked by an additional note, e.g. (optional). Functions or information that are not available in all countries are identified as not available in all countries. As currency, Euros are used exemplarily. In this manual, the product name appears in its plain form PostBase. The following keywords and signs identify the safety tips in this manual: Warning! indicates a potential hazard that may result in injury. Caution! indicates a potential hazard that may result in damage to the mailing system or impair the franking process. Caution! indicates an automatic machine operation that may result in the user being startled. The following symbols and text features are used in this manual: Bullets precede instructions. Dashes precede list items. Menu names and options from the operating menu are written in small capitals, e.g. MENU. A tip offers advice or additional suggestions for improving the operation.

4 4 PostBase Mailing System 1 Safety tips PostBase is a digital mailing system with ink-jet print technology for franking mail. PostBase complies with the pertinent safety regulations for office information equipment. Please observe the following tips for your own safety: Prevention of electrical hazards Operate the PostBase only on a grounded single-phase power socket. Make sure your office power supply conforms to the power requirements indicated on the serial number plates. Make sure the sockets for connecting the mailing system are close by and easily accessible at all times. Unplug the plugs in case of an emergency. Call the Service. Take special care that no foreign objects penetrate the system s interior. Be extremely careful when handling liquids. When filling with sealing liquid, make sure not to wetten any parts connected to the mains. Unplug the plugs prior to cleaning the PostBase mailing system. Prevention of mechanical hazards Keep long hair, fingers, loose clothing pieces, neck ties, shawls, jewelry and the like away from moving machine parts. Do not remove any parts of the housing. Do not remove any equipment related to safety or protection. Do not make them inoperative or unable to function.

5 Safety tips 5 Accessories and consumables We recommend to use only approved FP equipment and FP original parts. The manufacturer FP has established reliability, safety and applicability. The manufacturer cannot assess the reliability, safety and applicability for products not approved by FP, and therefore not vouch for such products. Use the supplied power and connection cables or cables that have been approved by Francotyp-Postalia. Make sure that cables are not damaged. Ingestion of the ink can be hazardous. Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep the ink cartridges away from children. Further instructions for use are enclosed with the ink cartridges. We recommend to use only the batteries provided by Francotyp-Postalia. The manufacturer FP has established reliability, safety and applicability. Observe the instructions enclosed with the battery for correct use and disposal. General safety tips Install the PostBase mailing system according to the instructions. Do not use attached parts like the weighing platform, label compartment, display, drawer, as handles during transport. The best way to handle the components is to hold them at the lower part of the housing at the clearances on both sides. When you move the PostBase from a cold environment (i.e. below 10 C / 50 F): Unpack the PostBase and wait at least 2 hours before connecting the PostBase. The PostBase requires this period to adapt to the ambient conditions. Any condensation evaporates. Use the Feeder PostBase only with the PostBase franking machine. It is not possible to operate the feeder without the PostBase franking machine. Have maintenance and repair work done only by qualified personnel authorized by Francotyp-Postalia. Otherwise, your warranty may become void. Do not be startled while positioning letters. Letter transport will start after a short delay.

Modular design In its basic version, the mailing system consists of the PostBase franking machine with integrated scale, a hand feed tray and a letter catch tray. This basic version can easily be extended with optional components. The PostBase mailing system comes in variants with processing speeds of 30 letters per minute up to 65 letters per minute.

10 10 PostBase Mailing System Franking Letters as advertising medium Download postage Flexible and up to date Access control Additional functions To frank a letter, simply position it with the side to be printed on facing up PostBase will seize the letter and frank it, after which it is exited to the right side ready for dispatch. Franking is possible on mail pieces made of inkabsorbing material postcards to 10 mm (0.4") thick letters in ISO B4 format and special self-adhesive labels. In addition to printing postage, you can print custom advertisements of your choice and text messages on every mail piece you send (not available in all countries). Load postage from the data center directly into your franking machine fast, easy and, if need be, 24 hours a day. The PostBase franking machine ensures you are always using the current postal rates. Whether new postage rates or new adverts the data center loads current data directly into your franking machine. The PostBase franking machine can be protected against unauthorized use via a PIN. The PostBase mailing system offers a range of convenient additional functions. Among these are: Scale. The space saving, integrated scale quickly and reliably determines the weight for letters and parcels. The determined weight directly affects the product settings. Shortcut function for frequently used postal products. Account function for separate registration and billing of postage costs. Print lists of register states and loading report. Variable imprint offset for changing the franking imprint position on the envelope (not available in all countries).

11 A short description of the PostBase 11 Options The following features are available for functionality extension: Label dispenser to print self-adhesive labels, for large or thick mail pieces or for envelopes that are not suited for ink-jet printing. Feeder. Automatic feeder with sealer for the PostBase. The letters are separated from the stack, optionally moistened and sealed, and fed to the PostBase franking machine. Sealer. Manually pass the open envelope through the sealer. The moistened flap will be closed in the PostBase during subsequent franking. Differential weighing. A special weighing mode of the integrated scale that helps you save time when weighing and franking large amounts of similar mail pieces. Controlling PostBase via PC software. FP offers software for controlling and administration of the franking machine via PC, e.g. Navigator, RemoteOne, ReportOne, MailOne (not available in all countries).

12 12 PostBase Mailing System 3 Installation Step 1: Unpacking and checking the contents of the package Warning! Do not start operating PostBase if parts are damaged or missing. Please contact the service. Caution! Carry out the steps exactly in the given order. Also, consult the installation instructions (fold-out). Unpack the packages. Check that the contents of the packages are complete and free from any damage. Keep the packing. Use it again when you need to transport PostBase or send it in to Service. 13 Installation 13 Step 2: Assembling PostBase Caution! When you move PostBase from a cold environment (i.e. below 10 C / 50 F): Unpack the PostBase and wait at least 2 hours before connecting PostBase. PostBase requires this period to adapt to the ambient conditions. Choose an installation site with the following ambient conditions: room temperature: 15 C to 35 C (59 F to 95 F) no direct sunlight power socket in the immediate vicinity network connection with internet access or telephone socket for modem connection in the immediate vicinity. Place PostBase on a firm, level, low vibration and horizontal base.

14 14 PostBase Mailing System Caution! Do not connect and install the feeder until step 6. Prior to this, the PostBase franking machine has to be installed completely. Otherwise, the feeder will not be recognized and the mailing system will not work. 15 Installation 15 Catch tray: attaching the stop Attach the stop to the catch tray: Slide the stop into the guides on the catch tray bottom. Mounting the weighing platform Hold the weighing platform such that the long slot in the weighing platform foot points to the front. Slot, long Place the weighing platform onto the scale receptacle from above. The long slot of the weighing platform must slide in the counterpart on the scale receptacle. Press down slightly on the weighing platform with your flat hand. Mounting catch tray and feeding device Place the respective attachment next to the franking machine (see overviews on previous page). Slightly lift the franking machine on the side on which you wish to mount the attachment. The bottom side of the housing features slots where the attachments are fastened. Push the respective attachment underneath the franking machine such that the catches on the attachment engage in the slots. Put the franking machine carefully down.

16 16 PostBase Mailing System Sealer: filling sealit sealing liquid Swing the filler hole lid aside. Fill the sealer with sealit sealing liquid. Check the liquid level. The liquid level in the sealer should roughly reach to the max mark. Swing the filler hole lid back on. If necessary: dry the sealer outside.

17 Installation 17 Step 3: Connecting PostBase Warning! Use the power and connection cables provided with the PostBase or approved by Francotyp-Postalia. Make sure that cables are not damaged. Connect PostBase only to a grounded single-phase power socket. Make sure your office power supply conforms to the power requirements indicated on the serial number plates. Make sure the socket for connecting PostBase is close by and easily accessible at all times. Connect the franking machine to a local area network (LAN). Connect the franking machine to a PC. Plug the power plug into the franking machine s power connection. Then plug the power cable into the power socket.

18 18 PostBase Mailing System Step 4: PostBase button Installing PostBase Turn PostBase on: Press the PostBase button. The display lighting and button illumination switch on. PostBase performs a self test and then starts the installation procedure. Follow the instructions on the display. PostBase will guide you step by step through the installation procedure: Select language Set connection parameters Enter repository PIN Software update Insert cartridges Load postage. Installation is complete. For information on handling the touch screen and an overview of screen elements, please read chapter 4.6.

20 20 PostBase Mailing System Step 6: Installing the feeder (optional) Caution! Prior to connecting and installing the feeder, the PostBase franking machine has to be installed completely. Otherwise, the PostBase will not recognize the feeder and the mailing system will not work. Turn the franking machine off: Press the PostBase button for three seconds. Assembling the feeder

21 Installation 21 Connecting the feeder Connect the feeder to the PostBase franking machine. Plug the power plug into the feeder s power connection. Then plug the power cable into the power socket.

22 22 PostBase Mailing System Filling with sealing liquid Warning! Be extremely careful when handling liquids. If you fill the sealant tank, make sure not to wetten any parts connected to the mains. If this should happen, immediately pull the power plugs. Have the PostBase mailing system checked by the service before using it again. Open the flap by pressing the release button. Remove sealant tank out of the housing and put it at a safe place.

23 Installation 23 Unscrew sealant tank cover. Fill the sealant tank with sealit sealing liquid. Place sealant tank screw cover and tighten. Turn sealant tank upside down in a nondangerous area (e.g. over a sink) to check if the cover is well sealed.

24 24 PostBase Mailing System Insert sealant tank into the housing with the cover downward. Close the flap. Attach the pendulum Insert the base of the pendulum into the fixture of the slope. Press down on the pendulum until it clicks into place.

25 Installation 25 Turning on Turn the franking machine back on: Press the PostBase button. After rebooting, the PostBase mailing system with feeder is ready for use. With the LABEL / FEEDER button, feature batch processing is accessible.

26 26 PostBase Mailing System 4 The basics of operation In this chapter you will learn about the basic functions of the PostBase mailing system and how to handle the touch screen. 4.1 Turning the PostBase on / off The franking machine can remain connected to mains all the time to ensure it is always ready for use. Use the PostBase button to turn the franking machine ON and OFF. Turning on PostBase button Press the PostBase button. The display lighting and button illumination switch on. The PostBase performs a self test and then displays the Home screen. Depending on the setting, you are prompted to choose a user and enter the PIN. Turning off At any time, press the PostBase button for three seconds to turn the franking machine off. The PostBase will complete any current actions and then switches off. The display light and PostBase button illumination go out and the touch screen is deactivated.

27 The basics of operation 27 Disconnecting the PostBase from mains Caution! Make sure to always turn the PostBase off with the PostBase button before disconnecting the PostBase from mains. Never pull the power plug or separate the power supply in any other way before the printing system has reached its sealed position. This is the only way to prevent drying up and to ensure a permanently high print quality. Press the PostBase button for three seconds to turn the franking machine off. The display goes out. Unplug the power cable from the socket. 4.2 Standby 4.3 Adjusting the display inclination The PostBase franking machine will go to standby automatically if it is not used for some time. The display is dark and the PostBase button is illuminated in standby. The touch function is inactive. You can wake up PostBase by briefly pressing the PostBase button. Press the key below the display and set the display in the desired position. The adaptation mechanism features several catches. Release the key.

28 28 PostBase Mailing System 4.4 Setting up the label dispenser (optional) Caution! We recommend to use only labels that have been approved by Francotyp-Postalia. The manufacturer cannot assess the reliability, safety and applicability for products not approved by FP, and therefore not vouch for such products We can ensure correct label processing only when you comply with this. Folding the label compartment in and out To fold the label compartment in or out: Press on the knurled surface until you hear a click, then release. Inserting labels Remove package band from the package of labels. Insert the complete package (50 labels) in the label dispenser: The side to be printed on faces up. Insert the package of labels in direction of the imprinted arrow as far as it will go.

29 The basics of operation Setting up the catch tray The catch tray can be adapted to different envelope sizes by displacing the catch bracket. The stop features several catches for the most common sizes.

30 30 PostBase Mailing System 4.6 Screen elements and operation philosophy This chapter covers the user interface of the PostBase franking machine. You will learn how to operate the touch screen, the screen elements and the menus, window types and symbols The touch screen The touch screen is active when the display is lit. To operate the touch screen, simply touch the screen elements with your finger. General operation philosophy You briefly touch the desired screen element (in the example: the postage button) with your finger. PostBase performs the corresponding action. You can operate scrollbars with the arrow buttons or by touching the slider and moving it. The setting is updated when you lift your finger off. Slider Scrollbar You can also use the supplied stylus instead of your finger. The stylus is stored in a receptacle on the back of the display.

31 The basics of operation 31 Buttons You distinguish buttons from the screen background by a shadow. They can have various states, depending on the function: Button can be pressed / is active. Button is selected / passive. Confirmation: Button is being pressed. Button is deactivated / cannot be pressed. Standard buttons The term standard button refers to buttons like for example SAVE, CANCEL, BACK or CONTINUE. Depending on the function, the button label can differ. The CANCEL / BACK button (if available) is always located in the bottom right corner of the screen and goes back one step / level.

It displays the current franking settings. The postage appears only when all required product details are selected and the set weight exceeds 0 g (0 oz). Operation philosophy A function can be edited or selected by simply touching its button. Depending on the respective function, the PostBase opens a list, an adjustment menu or a menu offering further options. In the chapters to follow, you will be introduced to each of the menu and window types and their operation.

33 The basics of operation The Product calculation menu Calling up the Product calculation menu By pressing the PRODUCT button the product calculation menu is opened. Here, you set the product for the franking imprint. The left area of the display shows the available mailing data. You can scroll the list with the scroll bar if more than four options are available. The right area of the product calculation menu shows the current settings: the postage the weight the date the selected mailing data. The postage and the OK button only appear if all necessary mailing data were selected and the displayed weight exceeds 0 g (0 oz). Mailing data Current settings Selecting mailing data By pressing the respective buttons, you select mailing data. The PostBase guides you through the postage calculation process step by step. Press OK to accept the current settings and to return to the Home screen. Other mailing data: scroll with scroll bar Accept current settings and return to Home screen Deselecting mailing data With the BACK button, the mailing data can be deleted step by step from the current product settings.

34 34 PostBase Mailing System Returning to the Home screen OK BACK With the OK button, you set the current selected mailing data for franking and return to the Home screen. Pressing the BACK button repeatedly deletes the mailing data step by step. By pressing the button again after having deselected all mailing data you will cancel the product selection. The product set last remains set in the Home screen The Menu Menu (example) Use the MENU button to open the Menu. From this Menu you can access the administration functions, the system settings, and service functions. Use the arrow buttons to scroll to the next page and back in the Menu. More functions

35 The basics of operation Lists Current setting Next page: scroll with arrow button Lists (e.g. for adverts, SMS texts) offer all available settings in list form. Use the arrow buttons to scroll forward or backward. Press the respective button to select one of the provided settings and return to the Home screen Adjustment menus A separate menu each opens for editing and selecting settings. There are three types: Lists, input via keypad, and input according to the counter principle. Current setting Further available options: scroll with scroll bar Accept current settings Lists The left area of the display shows the available settings. The current setting is shown with a dark background. You can scroll the list with a scroll bar if more than four options are available. Press SAVE to accept the current settings and to quit the adjustment menu. Press BACK to discard your changes and to quit the adjustment menu.

36 36 PostBase Mailing System Input via keypad Current input Info text Button assigned acc. to function (here: reset to current date) Use the keypad in the left area of the display to input values. The top right text box indicates your input. The keypad is always matched to the respective situation: The button labels change accordingly, depending on whether you must type figures or figures and letters. The bottom left button is assigned a special function matched to the current operation, e.g. change between small and capital letters. The info text informs of special features and gives additional hints. Press CE to clear input. Press SAVE to accept the current settings and to quit the adjustment menu. Press BACK to discard your changes and to quit the adjustment menu. Display field Input using the counter principle PostBase may require you to enter values via a counter principle. Use the arrow buttons to increase or decrease the figure in each digit until the desired amount is displayed in the top right text box. Press OK to accept the current settings. 37 The basics of operation Pop-up windows For some settings, a window covering parts of the current window opens (pop-up window). The pop-up prompts you for an action. Messages and the batch processing feature also appear as a pop-up. Some pop-up messages feature autoconfirmation, i.e. they automatically close after some time Procedures (wizards) For more complex settings, e.g. when setting up connection data, the PostBase opens a procedure, guiding you through all necessary actions step by step. Different window types are used, depending on requirements. Press CONTINUE to accept the current settings and to go to the next step. You can press BACK to return to previous steps. Pressing BACK at the beginning of the procedure will discard all settings and close the procedure.

38 38 PostBase Mailing System 4.7 Test print Using a test print, you can assess the settings for the franking imprint as well as the print quality. According to postal regulations, test prints are marked as such. Never post test imprints. Test prints are not logged in the postage registers. Setting a test imprint The way you set the test print may differ from the approach described here, depending on requirements by the respective postal service. In that case, please refer to the country-specific addendum to the Operator Manual. Set the desired parameters for the franking imprint (advert, SMS text etc.). Press the PRODUCT button in the Home screen. Set the desired product. Once all necessary mailing data are set, you can perform a test print. The TEST PRINT PRODUCT option is shown at the end of the additional services list. Choose TEST PRINT PRODUCT. PostBase prompts you to position a letter.

39 The basics of operation 39 Printing the test print on an envelope Letter guide face Insert an empty envelope (or a postcard) in the hand feed tray: side to be printed face up the top edge must touch the letter guide face. Push the envelope in direction of the arrow. PostBase takes up the envelope, prints the test print and discharges the envelope to the right. Printing the test print on a label (optional) Choose LABEL to print the test print on a label. PostBase prints the test print on a label and discharges the label to the right. Positioning an envelope at the feeder (optional) Position an envelope on the feeder: side to be printed face up the top edge must touch the letter guide face. Or, if an envelope has already been positioned: Choose FEEDER. PostBase seizes the envelope, prints the test print and discharges the envelope to the right.

40 40 PostBase Mailing System Checking the print quality Make sure the PostBase always provides clean and legible franking imprints. Check the print quality. There must not be any offsets, blurred or blank spots. Pay special attention to the data matrix symbol (if any). This illustration shows a perfect imprint. Data matrix symbol When there are offsets / shifts in the imprint: Offset Align the ink cartridges. Read the chapter Aligning ink cartridges in the Reference Guide. 56 4 Frankiersystem PostBase 1 Sicherheitshinweise PostBase ist ein digitales Frankiersystem mit Tintenstrahl-Drucktechnologie zum Freistempeln von Briefpost. PostBase entspricht den einschlägigen Sicherheitsbestimmungen für Einrichtungen der Informationstechnik in Büroumgebung. Bitte beachten Sie zu Ihrer eigenen Sicherheit folgende Hinweise: Vermeidung von elektrischen Gefährdungen Betreiben Sie das Frankiersystem PostBase nur an geerdeten Schutzkontaktsteckdosen. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Netzanschluss dem auf den Typenschildern angegebenen Spannungswert entspricht. Stellen Sie sicher, dass sich die Steckdosen für den Anschluss des Frankiersystems PostBase in der Nähe befinden und jederzeit leicht zugänglich sind. Ziehen Sie bei Gefahr sofort die Netzstecker des Frankiersystems PostBase aus der Steckdose. Rufen Sie den Service. Achten Sie darauf, dass keine Fremdkörper in das Innere des Frankiersystems PostBase gelangen. Hantieren Sie sehr vorsichtig mit Flüssigkeiten. 57 Sicherheitshinweise 5 Zubehör und Verbrauchsmaterial Wir empfehlen, nur freigegebenes FP-Zubehör und FP-Originalteile zu verwenden. Hierfür hat der Hersteller FP Zuverlässigkeit, Sicherheit und Eignung festgestellt. Erzeugnisse, die nicht vom Hersteller FP freigegeben sind, kann der Hersteller FP hinsichtlich Zuverlässigkeit, Sicherheit und Eignung trotz laufender Marktbeobachtung nicht beurteilen und auch nicht dafür einstehen. Verwenden Sie die mitgelieferten oder von Francotyp-Postalia freigegebenen Kabel. Achten Sie darauf, dass die Kabel nicht beschädigt sind. Das Verschlucken der Tinte kann gesundheitsschädlich sein. Vermeiden Sie den Augenkontakt mit der Tinte. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Tintenkartuschen nicht in Kinderhände gelangen. Weitere Verwendungshinweise liegen den Tintenkartuschen bei. Wir empfehlen, nur die von Francotyp-Postalia zu beziehenden Batterien zu verwenden. Hierfür hat der Hersteller FP Zuverlässigkeit, Sicherheit und Eignung festgestellt. Beachten Sie die zusammen mit der Batterie gelieferten Hinweise zur richtigen Verwendung und Entsorgung. Allgemeine Sicherheitshinweise Führen Sie das Aufstellen und die Erstinbetriebnahme des Frankiersystems PostBase gemäß der Anleitung durch. Transportieren Sie das Frankiersystem PostBase keinesfalls an Anbauteilen wie Wiegeteller, Streifenfach, Display, Schublade, Fassen Sie zum Transport die einzelnen Komponenten am besten seitlich unten am Gehäuse in den Aussparungen an. Wenn das Frankiersystem vorher in kalter Umgebung (d. h. unter 10 C) war: Packen Sie das Frankiersystem aus und warten Sie mindestens zwei Stunden, bevor Sie das Frankiersystem PostBase anschließen und in Betrieb nehmen. Das Frankiersystem PostBase benötigt diese Zeit, um sich an die Umgebungsbedingungen anzupassen. Eventuell niedergeschlagene Feuchtigkeit entweicht. Die Automatische Zuführung PostBase ist für den Betrieb an der Frankiermaschine PostBase bestimmt. Der Betrieb der automatischen Zuführung ohne die Frankiermaschine PostBase ist nicht zulässig. Lassen Sie Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten nur durch Fachpersonal ausführen, das durch Francotyp-Postalia autorisiert ist. Andernfalls kann der Garantieanspruch erlöschen. 63 Frankiersystem PostBase Kurzportrait 11 Optionen Zur Erweiterung der Funktionalität stehen folgende Optionen zur Verfügung: Streifengeber zum Bedrucken selbstklebender Frankierstreifen, z. B. für große / dicke Sendungen und für Kuverts, die für den Tintenstrahldruck ungeeignet sind. Automatische Zuführung mit Briefschließer (Feeder). Die Briefe werden einzeln vom Stapel abgezogen, wahlweise befeuchtet und verschlossen und anschließend an die Frankiermaschine übergeben. Briefschließer. Von Hand wird der offene Brief durch die Befeuchtung geführt. Beim anschließenden Frankieren mit der PostBase wird die befeuchtete Lasche angedrückt. Das Differenzwiegen ist ein spezieller Wiegemodus der Waage zum zeitsparenden Wiegen und Frankieren größerer Mengen gleichartiger Sendungen. Steuerung der PostBase via PC-Software. FP bietet Software zur Steuerung und Verwaltung der Frankiermaschine über einen PC an, z. B. Navigator (nicht in allen Ländern verfügbar).

Wenn die PostBase vorher in kalter Umgebung (d. h. unter 10 C) war: Packen Sie das Frankiersystem aus und warten Sie mindestens 2 Stunden, bevor Sie die PostBase anschließen. Die PostBase benötigt diese Zeit, um sich auf die Umgebungsbedingungen einzustellen. Einen Aufstellort mit folgenden Umgebungsbedingungen wählen: Raumtemperatur: 15 C bis 35 C keine direkte Sonnenstrahlung Netzsteckdose in unmittelbarer Nähe Netzwerkanschluss mit Internetzugang oder Telefonanschlussdose für Modemanschluss in unmittelbarer Nähe. Die PostBase auf einer stabilen, ebenen, schwingungsarmen und waagerechten Unterlage aufstellen.

Briefauffang und Zuführmodul anbringen Das jeweilige Modul neben der Frankiermaschine platzieren (siehe Übersichten auf der vorherige Seite). Die Frankiermaschine auf der Seite, an der Sie das Modul anbringen, leicht anheben. Das Gehäuse hat an der Unterseite Schlitze zum Fixieren der Anbauteile. Das jeweilige Modul so unter die Frankiermaschine schieben, dass die Nasen in die Schlitze greifen. Frankiermaschine vorsichtig absetzen.

Achten Sie darauf, dass die Kabel nicht beschädigt sind. Schließen Sie die PostBase nur an eine geerdete Schutzkontaktsteckdose an. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Netzanschluss dem auf den Typenschildern angegebenen Spannungswert entspricht. Stellen Sie sicher, dass sich die Steckdose für den Anschluss der PostBase in der Nähe befindet und jederzeit leicht zugänglich ist. Frankiermaschine an lokales Computernetzwerk (LAN) anschließen. Frankiermaschine an PC anschließen. Gerätestecker des Netzkabels in den Netzanschluss der Frankiermaschine stecken. Erst dann das Netzkabel an die Netzsteckdose anschließen.

Lassen Sie das Frankiersystem PostBase vom Service überprüfen, bevor Sie es wieder in Betrieb nehmen. Klappe durch Druck auf die Entriegelungstaste öffnen. Tank aus dem Gehäuse entnehmen und sicher ablegen.

78 26 Frankiersystem PostBase 4 Das 1x1 der Bedienung In diesem Kapitel lernen Sie Grundfunktionen des Frankiersystems PostBase und den Umgang mit dem Touch-Display kennen. 4.1 PostBase ein- / ausschalten Das Frankiersystem PostBase kann ständig am Netz angeschlossen bleiben und ist so immer schnell betriebsbereit. Mit der PostBase-Taste schalten Sie das Frankiersystem EIN / AUS. Einschalten PostBase-Taste PostBase-Taste drücken. Die Tasten- und Displaybeleuchtung werden eingeschaltet. PostBase führt einen Selbsttest durch und zeigt schließlich das Frankiermenü. Je nach Einstellung werden der Benutzer und die PIN zur Zugangskontrolle abgefragt. Ausschalten Sie können jederzeit die PostBase-Taste für drei Sekunden drücken, um das Frankiersystem auszuschalten. PostBase führt eventuell laufende Vorgänge zu Ende und schaltet sich dann aus. Die Tasten- und Displaybeleuchtung erlöschen.

79 Das 1x1 der Bedienung 27 PostBase vom Netz trennen Achtung! Schalten Sie das Frankiersystem PostBase immer durch langes Drücken auf die PostBase-Taste aus, bevor Sie PostBase vom Netz trennen. Ziehen Sie keinesfalls einfach den Netzstecker oder unterbrechen Sie nicht auf andere Art und Weise die Stromzufuhr, bevor das Drucksystem in Dichtposition gefahren ist. Nur so beugen Sie dem Eintrocknen vor und erhalten eine gleichbleibend gute Druckqualität. 4.2 Ruhezustand (Standby) 4.3 Displayneigung einstellen PostBase-Taste für drei Sekunden drücken, um das Frankiersystem auszuschalten. Netzstecker aus der Netzsteckdose ziehen. Wenn Sie das Frankiersystem PostBase einige Zeit nicht nutzen, schaltet es automatisch in den Ruhezustand (Standby). Im Ruhezustand ist das Display dunkel und die PostBase-Taste leuchtet. Die Touchfunktion ist nicht aktiv. Durch kurzes Drücken der PostBase-Taste wecken Sie PostBase wieder auf. Die Taste vor dem Display drücken und das Display in die gewünschte Position bringen. Der Verstellmechanismus hat verschiedene Rastpunkte. Taste loslassen.

80 28 Frankiersystem PostBase 4.4 Streifengeber vorbereiten (optional) Achtung! Wir empfehlen, nur Frankierstreifen von Francotyp-Postalia zu verwenden. Hierfür hat der Hersteller FP Zuverlässigkeit, Sicherheit und Eignung festgestellt. Erzeugnisse, die nicht vom Hersteller FP freigegeben sind, kann der Hersteller FP hinsichtlich Zuverlässigkeit, Sicherheit und Eignung trotz laufender Marktbeobachtung nicht beurteilen und auch nicht dafür einstehen. Nur so können wir Ihnen die korrekte Streifenverarbeitung zusichern. Streifenfach ein- / ausklappen Um das Streifenfach ein- oder auszuklappen: Auf die geriffelte Fläche drücken, bis Sie ein Klickgeräusch hören, dann loslassen. Streifen einlegen Banderole von dem Streifenpäckchen entfernen. Das komplette Päckchen (50 Streifen) in das Streifenfach einlegen: Die zu bedruckenden Papierseite zeigt nach oben. Das Streifenpäckchen bis zum Anschlag in Richtung des aufgedruckten Pfeils einschieben.

81 Das 1x1 der Bedienung Briefauffang einrichten Der Briefauffang kann durch Verschieben des Anschlagwinkels an die verschiedenen Kuvertformate (bis maximal ISO B4) angepasst werden. Der Anschlagwinkel hat mehrere Rastpunkte für die gebräuchlichsten Formate.

82 30 Frankiersystem PostBase 4.6 Bildschirmelemente und Bedienweise Dieses Kapitel stellt die Bedienoberfläche des Frankiersystems PostBase vor. Sie lernen den Umgang mit dem Touch-Display, die Bildschirmelemente sowie die verschiedenen Menüs, Fenstertypen und Symbole kennen Das Touch-Display Wenn das Display beleuchtet ist, ist das Touch-Display aktiv. Sie bedienen das Touch-Display einfach durch Berühren von Bildschirm-Elementen mit dem Finger. Allgemeine Bedienweise Sie tippen das gewünschte Element auf dem Bildschirm kurz mit dem Finger an. PostBase führt die entsprechende Aktion aus. Bei Scrollbalken verwenden Sie die Pfeiltasten, um in der Liste zu blättern. Sie können auch mit dem Finger auf den Schieber tippen und diesen bewegen. Beim Loslassen wird die Einstellung aktualisiert. Schieber Scrollbalken Anstelle des Fingers können Sie auch den mitgelieferten Stift nutzen. Den Stift finden Sie in einer Halterung auf der Rückseite des Displays.

Je nach Funktion können sie verschiedene Zustände einnehmen: Schaltfläche kann angetippt werden / ist aktiv. Schaltfläche ist ausgewählt / passiv (kein erneutes Antippen möglich). Bestätigung: Schaltfläche wird gerade angetippt. Schaltfläche ist deaktiviert / kann nicht angetippt werden. Standard-Schaltflächen Der Begriff Standard-Schaltflächen meint die Schaltflächen SPEICHERN, ABBRECHEN, ZURÜCK und WEITER. Die Beschriftung kann je nach Funktion variieren. Die Schaltfläche mit ABBRECHEN / ZURÜCK ist (wenn verfügbar) immer rechts unten im Fenster angeordnet und führt einen Schritt / eine Ebene zurück.

Bedienweise Sie tippen die Schaltfläche an, um eine Funktion oder Einstellung auszuwählen. Links im Display zeigt das Produktmenü die zur Auswahl stehenden Versanddaten. Wenn mehr als vier Auswahlmöglichkeiten vorhanden sind, blättern Sie mit Hilfe des Scrollbalkens in der Liste. Rechts im Display zeigt das Produktmenü die aktuellen Einstellungen: den Portowert das Gewicht das Datum die eingestellten Versanddaten. Der Portowert und die FERTIG-Taste erscheinen nur, wenn alle notwendigen Versanddaten gewählt sind und das angezeigte Gewicht größer als 0 g ist. Versanddaten Aktuelle Einstellung Versanddaten auswählen Durch Antippen der entsprechenden Schaltflächen wählen Sie die Versanddaten aus. PostBase führt Sie so Schritt für Schritt durch die Portoberechnung. Mit der Schaltfläche FERTIG übernehmen Sie die angezeigten Versanddaten und kehren zum Frankiermenü zurück. Durch wiederholtes Antippen der Schaltfläche ZURÜCK löschen Sie schrittweise die Versanddaten aus der aktuellen Produkteinstellung. Durch erneutes Antippen nach Abwahl sämtlicher Versanddaten brechen Sie die Produktauswahl ab. Im Frankiermenü bleibt das zuletzt genutzte Produkt eingestellt Das Menü Menü (Beispiel) Mit der Schaltfläche MENÜ öffnen Sie das Menü. Hier haben Sie Zugang zu den Verwaltungsfunktionen sowie zu Systemeinstellungen und Servicefunktionen. Mit den Pfeilen blättern Sie im Menü weiter und zurück. Weitere Funktionen

Der Tastenblock ist immer auf die jeweilige Situation abgestimmt: Je nachdem, ob reine Zahlenwerte oder Ziffern und Buchstaben eingegeben werden sollen, ändert sich die Beschriftung der Tasten. Die Taste links unten ist, sofern vorhanden, mit einer auf die aktuelle Bedienaktion abgestimmten Sonderfunktion belegt, z. B. Wechsel zwischen Groß- und Kleinschreibung. Der Infotext informiert über Besonderheiten und gibt zusätzliche Hinweise. Eingaben löschen Sie mit CE. Mit SPEICHERN übernehmen Sie die aktuelle Einstellung und verlassen das Einstellmenü. Mit ZURÜCK verwerfen Sie Ihre Eingabe und verlassen das Einstellmenü Pop-up-Fenster Bei einigen Einstellungen öffnet sich ein Fenster, das das aktuelle Fenster zum Teil überdeckt (Pop-up-Fenster). Das Pop-up fordert zu einer Handlung auf. Auch Meldungen und die Stapelverarbeitung erscheinen als Pop-up. Manche Pop-up-Meldungen sind selbstquittierend, d. h. nach einer bestimmten Zeit verschwinden diese von selbst.

B. der Verbindungsdaten, öffnet eine sogenannte Prozedur, mit der Sie PostBase Schritt für Schritt durch alle notwendigen Eingaben führt. Je nach Bedarf werden dabei unterschiedliche Fenstertypen verwendet. Mit WEITER übernehmen Sie die aktuelle Einstellung und gehen zum nächsten Schritt. Mit ZURÜCK können Sie zu vorherigen Schritten zurückgehen. Wenn Sie am Anfang der Prozedur ZURÜCK wählen, verwerfen Sie alle Einstellungen und verlassen die Prozedur.

90 38 Frankiersystem PostBase 4.7 Testdruck Anhand eines Testdruckes können Sie die Einstellungen für die Frankierung sowie die Druckqualität prüfen. Entsprechend den Vorgaben der Postgesellschaft werden Testdrucke als solche gekennzeichnet. Testdrucke dürfen Sie keinesfalls bei der Post einliefern. Testdrucke werden in den Postregistern nicht erfasst. Testdruck einstellen Das Erzeugen eines Testdruckes kann bedingt durch Vorgaben der jeweiligen Postgesellschaft von der im folgenden beschriebenen Vorgehensweise abweichen. Lesen Sie gegebenenfalls die landesspezifische Beilage zur Betriebsanleitung. Die gewünschten Parameter für den Frankierdruck (Werbung, Zusatztext etc.) einstellen. Im Frankiermenü PRODUKT wählen. Das gewünschte Produkt einstellen. Sobald alle notwendigen Versanddaten eingestellt sind, können Sie einen Testdruck ausführen. Sie finden die Option TESTAB- DRUCK am Ende der Liste der Zusatzdienste. TESTABDRUCK auswählen. PostBase fordert Sie auf, einen Brief anzulegen.

108 4 Système à affranchir PostBase 1 Consignes de sécurité La PostBase est une machine à affranchir électronique avec technologie d impression à jet d encre pour l affranchissement du courrier. La PostBase est conforme aux dispositions de sécurité applicables pour les équipements de communication dans un environnement de bureau. Veuillez observer les remarques suivantes pour votre propre sécurité : Pour éviter les dangers électriques Raccordez le système à affranchir PostBase uniquement à une prise de courant de sécurité mise à la terre. Assurez-vous que la prise secteur correspond bien à la tension indiquée sur les plaques signalétiques. Veillez à ce que la prise de courant permettant de brancher le système à affranchir PostBase se trouve à proximité de ce dernier et soit toujours facilement accessible. En cas de danger, débranchez immédiatement la fiche secteur du système à affranchir PostBase de la prise de courant. Contactez le service après-vente. Veillez à ce qu aucun corps étranger ne s infiltre dans le système à affranchir PostBase. Manipulez les liquides seulement avec beaucoup de prudence. 109 Consignes de sécurité 5 Accessoires et matières consommables Nous recommandons d utiliser uniquement des accessoires FP et pièces originales FP agréés. Le fabricant FP en a constaté la fiabilité, la sécurité et l aptitude. Le fabricant FP ne peut évaluer les produits qu il n a pas agréés, malgré une observation continue du marché, et décline par conséquent toute responsabilité en ce qui les concerne. Utilisez exclusivement les câbles fournis ou agréés par Francotyp-Postalia. Veillez à ce que les câbles ne soient pas endommagés. Avaler l encre peut nuire à la santé. Évitez que l encre entre en contact avec les yeux. Assurez-vous que les cartouches d encre soient toujours hors de portée des enfants. Vous trouverez d autres consignes pour l utilisation dans l emballage des cartouches d encre. Nous vous recommandons d utiliser uniquement les batteries fournies par Francotyp-Postalia. Le fabricant FP en a constaté la fiabilité, la sécurité et l aptitude. Veuillez respecter les consignes pour l utilisation et l élimination correctes fournies avec les batteries. Consignes de sécurité générales Procédez à l installation et la première mise en service du système à affranchir PostBase conformément aux instructions données. Ne transportez le système à affranchir PostBase en aucun cas aux pièces rapportées comme le plateau de la balance, le bac à étiquettes, l écran, le tiroir, Au mieux, saisissez les différents composants sur le côté au-dessous du boîtier, dans les évidements prévus à cet effet, pour les transporter. Si le système à affranchir se trouvait auparavant dans un environnement froid (c est-à-dire à une température inférieure à 10 C / 50 F) : Déballez le système à affranchir et attendez au moins deux heures avant de raccorder le système à affranchir PostBase et le mettre en service. Le système à affranchir PostBase a besoin de ce temps pour s adapter aux conditions ambiantes. L humidité qui a éventuellement pu se produire est évacuée. L alimentation automatique PostBase est destinée à l utilisation avec la machine à affranchir PostBase. L utilisation de l alimentation automatique sans la machine à affranchir PostBase n est pas autorisée. Veillez à ce que les travaux de maintenance et de réparation soient exécutés uniquement par un personnel spécialisé dûment agréé par Francotyp-Postalia. Construction modulaire Le système à affranchir en version de base se compose de la machine à affranchir PostBase avec balance intégrée, alimentation manuelle et bac récepteur pour lettres. Cette version de base peut être élargie avec des composante disponibles en option. Le système à affranchir PostBase existe en différentes variantes avec des vitesses de chargement de 30 lettres par minute à 65 lettres par minute.

On peut affranchir des envois en matériau absorbant l encre de la carte postale jusqu aux lettres au format ISO B4 et une épaisseur de 10 mm (0.4") ainsi que des étiquettes d affranchissement spéciales à coller sur l envoi. Outre l affranchissement postal, vous pouvez imprimer de la publicité de votre choix et comme pour une SMS des informations actuelles sous forme de message texte directement sur l envoi (si disponible pour votre pays). Vous pouvez charger du port du centre de données dans la machine à affranchir rapidement, confortablement et, si nécessaire, 24 heures sur 24. Avec le système à affranchir PostBase, vous pouvez être sûr de toujours travailler conformément aux prescriptions tarifaires actuelles de la poste. Qu il s agisse de nouveaux tarifs postaux ou de nouveaux logos, les données actuelles sont téléchargées directement du centre de données dans votre système à affranchir. Le système à affranchir PostBase peut être protégé à l aide d un code PIN contre toute utilisation intempestive. Exécutez les différentes étapes exactement dans l ordre indiqué. Pour le mieux, tenez également le guide d installation PostBase (dépliant) à portée de main. Déballage des cartons. Vérifier si le contenu de l emballage est complet et s il est en parfait état. Veuillez bien conserver l emballage. Utilisez-le plus tard, si vous souhaitez transporter la PostBase ou l expédier au service après-vente. Placer la PostBase sur un support stable, plan, peu vibrant et horizontal.

Si ce n est pas le cas, l alimentation automatique ne sera pas détectée par la PostBase. Le système à affranchir ne fonctionne pas. 119 Mise en place et mise en service 15 Bac récepteur pour lettres : Installer la butée Installer la cornière d assemblage sur le récepteur : faire glisser la cornière d assemblage dans les guides sur la face inférieure du bac récepteur pour lettres. Installer le plateau de la balance Tenir le plateau de la balance de manière à ce que la rainure longitudinale au pied du plateau de la balance soit orientée vers l avant. Rainure longit. Poser le plateau de la balance par le haut sur le manchon de la balance. La rainure longitudinale au pied du plateau de la balance doit alors glisser dans le guide du manchon de la balance. Appuyer légèrement par le haut avec le plat de la main sur le plateau de la balance. Installer le bac récepteur pour lettres et le module d alimentation Placer chaque module à côté de la machine à affranchir (voir les vues d ensemble à la page précédente). Lever légèrement la machine à affranchir sur le côté où vous voulez installer le module. Le boîtier comporte des fentes sur le côté inférieur pour la fixation des pièces rapportées. Faire glisser chaque module au-dessous de la machine à affranchir de manière à ce que les ergots prennent dans les fentes. Déposer la machine à affranchir avec précaution.

Faire l appoint de liquide de collage «sealit» dans la colleuse de lettre. Contrôler le niveau de remplissage. La colleuse de lettre devrait être remplie environ jusqu au repère «max». 130 26 Système à affranchir PostBase 4 Les premiers rudiments de l utilisation Le présent chapitre vous familiarise avec les fonctions de base du système à affranchir PostBase et l utilisation du menu de commande. 4.1 Mise en marche / Arrêt de la PostBase Le système à affranchir PostBase peut rester raccordé au secteur en permanence et, ainsi, elle est toujours rapidement disponible. Vous pouvez utiliser la touche Post- Base pour mettre en marche / arrêter le système à affranchir. Mise en marche Touche PostBase Appuyer sur la touche PostBase. L éclairage de la touche et de l écran sont alors activés. La PostBase procède à un auto-diagnostic et affiche le menu d affranchissement. En fonction du réglage, le nom d utilisateur et le code PIN sont requis en guise de contrôle d accès. Veillez à toujours appuyer pendant longtemps sur la touche PostBase pour arrêter le système à affranchir PostBase avant de le débrancher du secteur. Ne débranchez en aucun cas simplement la fiche secteur et veillez à ne pas interrompre d une autre manière l alimentation en courant avant que le système d impression se soit déplacé à la position «fermée». Ce n est qu en procédant ainsi que vous pouvez éviter le dessèchement et assurer une constante et bonne qualité d impression. Appuyer sur la touche PostBase pendant trois secondes pour arrêter le système à affranchir. Débrancher la fiche secteur de la prise de secteur. 4.2 Position de repos (veille) Si vous n utilisez pas le système à affranchir PostBase pendant une durée prolongée, il se met automatiquement en position de repos (veille). A la position de repos, l écran est foncé et la touche PostBase éclairée. La fonction de commande tactile n est pas active. Appuyer brièvement sur la touche PostBase pour «réveiller» la PostBase.

Le mécanisme d ajustage a plusieurs crans d arrêt. Relâcher la touche. 4.4 Préparer l alimentation d étiquettes (en option) Attention! Nous vous recommandons d utiliser uniquement des étiquettes d affranchissement de Francotyp-Postalia. Le fabricant FP en a constaté la fiabilité, la sécurité et l aptitude. Le fabricant FP ne peut évaluer les produits qu il n a pas agréés, malgré une observation continue du marché, et décline par conséquent toute responsabilité en ce qui les concerne. Ce n est qu ainsi que nous pouvons vous assurer un traitement correct des étiquettes. Rabattre / déplier le bac à étiquettes Procéder comme suit pour rabattre ou déplier le bac à étiquettes : Appuyer sur la surface cannelée jusqu à ce qu un clic soit audible, puis la relâcher.

Introduire le paquet complet (50 étiquettes) dans le bac à étiquettes : La face de papier à imprimer montre vers le haut. Enfoncer le paquet d étiquettes jusqu à la butée dans le sens de la flèche imprimée. 4.5 Installer le bac récepteur pour lettres Le bac récepteur pour lettres peut être adapté aux divers formats d enveloppes en décalant la cornière (jusqu à ISO B4 au maximum). La cornière comporte plusieurs crans d arrêt pour les formats les plus usuels.

134 30 Système à affranchir PostBase 4.6 Éléments de l écran et mode de commande Le présent chapitre présente l interface utilisateur du système à affranchir PostBase. Vous y apprenez comment manipuler l écran tactile, les éléments de l écran et les différents menus, fenêtres et icônes L écran tactile Lorsque l écran est éclairé, l écran tactile est actif. La commande de l écran tactile se fait simplement par contact des éléments de l écran avec le doigt. Mode de commande général Vous effleurez brièvement l élément souhaité sur l écran avec le doigt. La PostBase exécute l action correspondante. Si des barres de défilement sont disponibles, utiliser les touches fléchées pour défiler dans la liste. Vous pouvez également effleurer le régulateur coulissant avec le doigt et le déplacer. Lorsque vous le relâchez, le réglage est actualisé. En fonction de la fonction affectée, ils peuvent prendre différents états : Le bouton peut être effleuré / est actif. Le bouton est sélectionné / passif (impossible de l effleurer de nouveau). Confirmer : Le bouton est en train d être effleuré. Le bouton est désactivé / ne peut pas être effleuré. Boutons standard La notion «boutons standard» définit les boutons SAUVEGARDER, ANNULER, RETOUR et SUIVANT. L inscription peut varier en fonction de la fonction affectée. Le bouton portant ANNULER / RETOUR se trouve (si disponible) toujours en bas à droite dans la fenêtre et vous fait rentrer d une étape / d un niveau en arrière.

S il existe plus de quatre options de sélection, défilez dans la liste à l aide de la barre de défilement. Le menu de produit montre à droite sur l écran les réglages actuels : le montant d affranchissement le poids la date les données d expédition sont réglées. Le montant d affranchissement n apparaît et la touche OK n est disponible que si toutes les données d expédition nécessaires sont réglées et le poids indiqué est supérieur à 0g. Données d expédition Réglage actuel Sélectionner les données d expédition Effleurer les boutons correspondants pour sélectionner les données d expédition. La PostBase vous guide étape par étape pendant le calcul du port. Avec le bouton OK, vous pouvez adopter les données d expédition affichées et rentrer au menu d affranchissement. En effleurant de nouveau après avoir désélectionné toutes les données d expédition, vous annulez la sélection de produit. La fenêtre pop-up vous invite à intervenir. Des messages et l utilisation de piles de lettres apparaissent également comme pop-up. Certains messages pop-up s acquittent automatiquement, c est-à-dire disparaissent sans votre intervention après un certain temps.

En fonction des besoins, des types de fenêtres différents sont alors utilisés. Sélectionnez SUIVANT pour adopter le réglage actuel et aller à l étape suivante. Sélectionnez RETOUR pour rentrer à des étapes précédentes. Si vous sélectionnez RETOUR au début de la procédure, tous les réglages faits sont rejetés et vous quittez la procédure.

142 38 Système à affranchir PostBase 4.7 Test d impression Vous pouvez contrôler les réglages pour l affranchissement et la qualité d impression au moyen d un test d impression. Conformément aux directives de la Poste, les tests d impression sont identifiés comme tels. Les tests d impression ne doivent en aucun cas être délivrés à la Poste. Les tests d impression ne sont pas saisis dans les registres postaux. Configurer un test d impression La réalisation d un test d impression peut, en fonction des directives de la compagnie postale concernée, diverger de la procédure à suivre décrite ci-après. Veuillez vous reporter le cas échéant au supplément national spécifique au guide d utilisation. Ajuster les paramètres souhaités pour l impression d affranchissement (publicité, message texte, etc.). Sélectionner PRODUIT dans le menu d affranchissement. Ajuster le produit souhaité. Dès que toutes les données d expédition nécessaires sont programmées, vous pouvez faire un test d impression. Vous trouverez l option TEST D IMPRESSION à la fin de la liste de services supplémentaires. Sélectionner TEST D IMPRESSION. La PostBase vous invite à placer une lettre.
