2 ASSEMBLE REAR OF FRAME Slide 2 joint brackets onto each side of the U-frame (with warning label). Align the holes of the brackets with the holes in the U-frame. INSIDE RAILS: With the thick rubber padding facing out, these rails have holes drilled horizontally. ATTACH THE RAILS TO THE BRACKETS. Keep pads facing out. Secure with long bolts (nut is embedded in bracket). Tighten firmly with supplied wrench. ASSEMBLE FRONT FRAME COMBINE FRONT AND REAR FRAMES Slide 2 joint brackets onto each side of the U-frame (with logo). Align rails to brackets. Secure with long bolts. Tighten with wrench. Align the holes of the brackets with the holes in the U-frame A-2/12

3 OUTSIDE LOWER RAILS PIVOTING RAILS Position pivoting rails into brackets. Pin and Clasp on Lanyard SECURE PIVOTING RAIL. Position outside bottom rails into brackets. Insert nut into bracket. Insert short bolts. Tighten bolt to nut with wrench. (The nut should seat into the bracket once fully tightened.) Repeat for opposite end. AT THE REAR: Insert nut. Secure with bolt. Tighten. ON THE FRONT U-FRAME: Close the two lanyards over the Yakima logo. Buttons snap together PERMANENTLY. Insert the pins into the brackets. Pull the clasp over the end of the pin. INSTALL THE CARRIER LOAD SKIS OR BOARDS ON YOUR BIKE CARRIER: LOAD POWDERHORN. OPEN THE PIVOTING RAILS. Slide cradles to align with PowderHorn. Pull rubber cradle straps securely over U-frame. Slide skis or boards between bottom rails. Rest bindings against inside rails, and close pivoting rail. (Make sure toe binding is above top rail.) Rotate the cradles inward to allow loading. Rotate the cradles outward slightly to fit the curvature of the PowderHorn. Insert pin while holding rail closed. Pull clasps over the ends of the pins. DO NOT LOAD SKIS BOTTOM TO BOTTOM. For skis or single boards, face bindings inward toward hitch. Some thick skis may not work with this product A-3/12

4 Cradle straps are fully engaged and are secure. BEFORE DRIVING AWAY Pins are in place, and clasps are on the pins. Periodically tighten the hitch bolt. ATTACHMENT HARDWARE CAN LOOSEN OVER TIME. CHECK AND TIGHTEN IF NECESSARY, BEFORE EACH USE. MAINTENANCE Periodically clean the PowderHorn by rinsing with water. OFF-ROAD DRIVING is not recommended and could result in damage to your vehicle or your load. WARNING Do not allow skis or snowboards to extend below the vehicle hitch receiver! Yakima Products ( Yakima ) will repair or replace merchandise which proves defective in materials and/ or workmanship. The limited warranty is effective for three years from the date of purchase. The limited warranty is applicable only if the Fit List and instructions are followed and the products are used properly. If a customer believes that a Yakima product is defective, the customer must return it to an authorized Yakima dealer with proof of purchase. Yakima will then issue authorization to the dealer for the return of these products. If an article is found to be defective upon inspection by Yakima, will repair or replace the defective article at its discretion without charge. The customer will pay freight to Yakima, and Yakima will pay any applicable return freight. Unauthorized returns will not be accepted. Normal wear and tear of Yakima products or damage resulting from misuse, accidents, or alterations are not covered by this Limited Warranty. The purchaser acknowledges that Yakima has no control over the attachment of its products to vehicles or the attachment of items to the Yakima products. Accordingly, Yakima cannot assume responsibility for any damage to any property arising out of the improper attachment or use of its products. 6 ASSEMBLAGE DU CADRE ARRIÈRE Enfiler deux équerres sur chacun des deux tubes verticaux du cadre en U muni de l étiquette d avertissement. Aligner les trous des équerres sur les trous du cadre en U. BRAS INTÉRIEURS: Quand la garniture en caoutchouc est tournée vers l extérieur, les trous de ces bras sont percés à l horizontale. FIXER LES BRAS AUX ÉQUERRES. Orienter les garnitures vers l extérieur. Fixer les bras avec des boulons longs (l écrou se trouve à l intérieur de l équerre). Bien serrer à l aide de la clé. ASSEMBLAGE DU CADRE AVANT ASSEMBLAGE DES CADRES AVANT ET ARRIÈRE Enfiler deux équerres sur chacun des deux tubes verticaux du cadre en U muni du logo. Aligner les trous des équerres sur les trous du cadre en U. Aligner les bras sur les équerres. Fixer les bras à l aide des boulons longs. Serrer avec la clé A-6/12

7 BRAS DU BAS EXTÉRIEURS BRAS PIVOTANTS Emboîter les bras pivotants dans les équerres. Goupille, étrier et cordon FIXATION DU BRAS PIVOTANT. Emboîter les bras du bas extérieurs dans les équerres. Insérer l écrou dans l équerre. Insérer les boulons courts. Serrer le boulon sur l écrou en se servant de la clé. (Une fois le boulon serré, l écrou doit être complètement noyé dans l équerre.) Procéder de la même manière pour l autre côté. À L ARRIÈRE: Insérer l écrou. Mettre un boulon en place. Serre SUR LE CADRE EN U AVANT: Poser les deux cordons autour du cadre portant le logo Yakima. Une fois enclenchés, les fermoirs ne peuvent plus être ouverts. Insérer la goupille dans l équerre. Engager l étrier sur le bout de la goupille. POSE DU PORTE-SKIS CHARGEMENT DES SKIS ET DES PLANCHES SUR LE PORTE-VÉLOS: POSE DU PORTE-SKIS. OUVRIR LES BRAS PIVOTANTS. Faire glisser les berceaux pour les aligner avec le porte-skis PowderHorn. Faire pivoter les berceaux vers l intérieur pour pouvoir poser le porte-skis. Faire pivoter légèrement les berceaux vers l extérieur pour qu ils s adaptent à la courbure du porte-skis. Tendre et accrocher les sangles en caoutchouc des berceaux sur le cadre en U. Insérer les skis ou les planches entre les bras du bas. Appuyer les fixations des skis contre les bras intérieurs et refermer le bras pivotant. (S assurer que la butée de la fixation se trouve au-dessus du bras du haut.) Insérer la goupille tout en tenant le bras fermé. Engager l étrier sur le bout des goupilles. NE PAS CHARGER LES SKIS SEMELLE CONTRE SEMELLE. Quand on charge des skis ou une planche seule, orienter les fixations vers l intérieur, vers l attelage. Ce produit peut ne pas convenir pour certains skis de forte épaisseur A-7/12

8 AVANT DE PRENDRE LA ROUTE Vérifier que les sangles des berceaux sont fixées solidement. Vérifier que les goupilles sont en place et que les étriers sont rabattus sur le bout des goupilles. Vérifier régulièrement le serrage du boulon d attelage. ENTRETIEN Nettoyer régulièrement le porte-skis en le rinçant à l eau A-8/12 Vérifier la solidité du montage en secouant le porte-skis. Éloigner les skis ou les planches de l échappement du véhicule. Démonter le porte-skis avant d entrer dans un lave-auto automatique. LA CONDUITE HORS ROUTE n est pas recommandée: cela pourrait endommager le véhicule et le chargement. CONSERVER CES INSTRUCTIONS! ATTENTION Ne pas charger les skis ou les planches à neige de manière qu ils dépassent sous le niveau du tube d attelage du véhicule. GARANTIE LIMITÉE Yakima Products ( Yakima ) s engage à réparer ou à remplacer les produits qui présenteraient des vices de matériau ou de fabrication. Cette garantie limitée a une durée de trois ans à partir de la date d achat. 10 MONTAJE DEL CUADRO TRASERO Deslice 2 escuadras de unión en cada lado del cuadro en U (con etiqueta de advertencia). Haga corresponder los agujeros de las escuadras con los del cuadro. RIELES INTERIORES: Con el taco de caucho hacia afuera, los rieles tienen agujeros horizontales. COLOQUE LOS RIELES EN LAS ESCUADRAS. Mantenga los tacos hacia afuera. Asegure con tornillos largos (las tuercas están incorporadas en las escuadras). Ajuste firmemente con la llave suministrada. MONTAJE DEL CUADRO DELANTERO UNA LOS CUADROS DELANTERO Y TRASERO Deslice 2 escuadras de unión en cada lado del cuadro en U (con logo). Haga corresponder los agujeros de las escuadras con los del cuadro. Una los rieles a las escuadras. Asegure con tornillos largos. Ajuste con la llave A-10/12

11 RIELES EXTERIORES INFERIORES RIELES GIRATORIOS Coloque los rieles giratorios en las escuadras. Pasador y broche con cordón ASEGURE EL RIEL GIRATORIO. Coloque los rieles exteriores inferiores en las escuadras. Inserte la tuerca en la escuadra. Inserte los tornillos cortos. Ajuste tornillo y tuerca con la llave. (La tuerca debe quedar dentro de la escuadra una vez ajustada). Repita para el otro lado. EN LA PARTE POSTERIOR: Inserte la tuerca. Asegure con el tornillo. Ajuste. EN EL CUADRO EN U DELANTERO: Cierre los dos cordones sobre el logo Yakima. Los botones del broche cierran PERMANENTEMENTE. Inserte los pasadores en las escuadras. Coloque el broche sobre el extremo del pasador. INSTALE EL PORTABICICLETAS CARGUE ESQUÍES O TABLAS EN EL PORTABICICLETAS: CARGUE EL POWDERHORN. ABRA LOS RIELES GIRATORIOS. Deslice las cunas para alinearlas con el PowderHorn. Asegure firmemente las correas de caucho de las cunas por encima del cuadro en U. Deslice los esquíes o las tablas entre los rieles inferiores. Apoye las tiras para los pies sobre los rieles interiores y cierre el riel giratorio. (Verifique que la tira del dedo está por encima del riel superior). Gire las cunas hacia adentro para permitir cargar. Gire las cunas hacia afuera ligeramente para adaptarse a la curvatura del PowderHorn. Inserte el pasador manteniendo cerrado el riel. Coloque los broches sobre los extremos de los pasadores. NO CARGUE LOS ESQUÍES BASE CONTRA BASE. Para esquíes o tablas sencillas, ponga las tiras hacia adentro orientadas hacia el enganche. Este producto quezá no funcione con algunos esquíes gruesos A-11/12

12 Verifique que las correas de las cunas están bien enganchadas y aseguradas. ANTES DE PARTIR: Verifique que los pasadores están colocados y los broches están sobre ellos. Periódicamente ajuste el tornillo del enganche. ADVERTENCIA No deje que los esquíes o tablas se extiendan por debajo del receptor del enganche del vehículo. Yakima Products ( Yakima ) se compromete a reparar o reemplazar la mercancía que presente defectos en materiales o en elaboración. Esta garantía limitada es válida por tres años contado desde la fecha de compra. La garantía limitada es aplicable solamente si se han cumplido con los requisitos de la Lista de Compatibilidad (Fit List) y si el producto se ha usado en la forma debida. Si un cliente cree que un producto Yakima es defectuoso, el cliente debe devolver dicho producto a un representante autorizado de Yakima, adjuntando prueba de compra. Entonces Yakima dará autorización a dicho representante para devolver el producto. Si al inspeccionar el producto Yakima encuentra que es en realidad defectuoso, Yakima reparará o reemplazará el artículo defectuoso a su discreción, sin cargo alguno para el cliente. El cliente se compromete a pagar por el flete para enviar el producto a Yakima y Yakima pagará el flete que corresponda para devolver dicho producto al cliente.
