Quest for Growth consent un investissement total de dans le cadre d un tour de financement de série A de 49 million aux côtés des investisseurs principaux Life Sciences Partners (LSP, Pays-Bas) et Sofinnova Partners (France), avec une participation additionnelle de Sofinnova Ventures (USA), KBC (Belgique) et GIMV (Belgique). MOVETIS SA est une nouvelle société de développement de produits pharmaceutiques dans le domaine gastrointestinal. L objectif de Movetis est de créer une société biopharmaceutique indépendante basée sur les produits et technologies licenciés par Janssen Pharmaceutica SA et Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, Inc. (tout deux filiales de Johnson & Johnson). Le portefeuille de MOVETIS contient un produit en phase III de recherche clinique, un produit accédant à la phase II, deux en phase I et trois composés au stade de développement préclinique et de découverte avancée. Le produit en phase avancée de développement a passé avec fruit trois essais pivots en matière de constipation chronique et vise un vaste groupe de patients pour lesquels les laxatifs disponibles aujourd hui ne constituent pas un traitement satisfaisant. Les autres produits en développement visent respectivement à traiter l ascite, une accumulation grave de liquides dans l abdomen de patients atteints de cirrhose du foie ; la régurgitation pédiatrique, un problème fréquent et souvent grave qui survient chez les nourrissons ; la gastroparésie diabétique et des formes plus sévères de dyspepsie. La société utilisera les fonds pour poursuivre le développement et le dépôt de son composé en phase III, le développement clinique de ses trois autres produits en phase d essai et l acheminement de ses quatre produits additionnels vers le développement préclinique et clinique de phase I. 3 MOVETIS NV Closes 49 Million EUR Series A Financing Round Financing provides strong foundation for new specialty company in gastroenterology Vosselaar, Belgium, January 8, 2007 MOVETIS NV, an independent drug development company for gastro-intestinal products, announced today that it has closed a 49-million-euro Series A financing round. MOVETIS will use the funds to complete development and filing of its lead phase III compound, continue clinical development of three other products and move four additional products into preclinical and phase I clinical development. Lead investors are Sofinnova Partners (France) and Life Sciences Partners (LSP, The Netherlands) the other participating investors being Sofinnova Ventures (US), KBC (Belgium), GIMV (Belgium), Quest for Growth (Belgium) and BIP Investment Partners (Luxembourg). MOVETIS is a Belgian based, biopharmaceutical company, recently created by a group of four founders, with products and technologies licensed in from Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, Belgium, and Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical Inc., US. The company has an impressive portfolio of eight products in different stages of development. The company's late-stage-development compound for chronic constipation has completed three positive pivotal trials and targets a large group of patients that are currently treated with laxatives without satisfactory results. Other products under development address ascites, a severe accumulation of fluid in the abdomen of patients with liver cirrhosis, paediatric regurgitation, a frequently occurring and often serious problem in young babies, diabetic gastroparesis, or weak stomach, a very common condition in diabetic patients, and more severe forms of dyspepsia.
