Après un débat public très intense, au printemps 2010, elle a fait souffler un esprit profondément européen, engagé et créatif sur la plus grande des politiques publiques communautaires dans le domaine économique. A présent, nous arrivons dans la dernière ligne droite de la réforme de la Politique agricole commune. Après être passé par le temps de la réflexion, puis par le temps des propositions, arrive le temps des décisions. Les décisions qui vont être prises dans les prochains mois engageront notre sécurité alimentaire, l utilisation de nos ressources naturelles et le développement de nos économies rurales pour des années. Il est fondamental que la société civile reste mobilisée et pleinement associée à ce processus. C est le sens de cette nouvelle conférence. Car l avenir de la PAC nous engage tous. Il engage la capacité de notre génération à s approprier une politique qui, depuis plus de 50 ans, a permis à l Europe de déployer son potentiel agricole. L Union européenne a plus que jamais besoin d un secteur agricole compétitif sur le plan économique, comme sur le plan écologique, d un secteur agricole qui donne des perspectives d emploi pour les jeunes, d un secteur agricole qui irrigue l économie de l ensemble de nos territoires, y compris les plus fragiles. Je vous remercie de nous rejoindre pour cette conférence et de vous mobiliser avec votre expertise, vos idées et votre dynamisme pour contribuer, une nouvelle fois, à bâtir ensemble une Politique agricole commune plus forte, pleinement au service des grands défis de notre société.
