INTRODUCTION The Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (COMCEC) was established by the Third Islamic Summit Conference held in Mecca/Taif in 1981. COMCEC became operational at the Fourth Islamic Summit in 1984, with the election of the President of the Republic of Turkey to its chairmanship. The mandate of the COMCEC is to draw up programmes for joint action as well as coordinate and follow-up the activities pertaining to economic cooperation within the framework of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC). The COMCEC has so far regularly convened 25 annual sessions, all of them in Istanbul. The Twenty Sixth Session of COMCEC is scheduled to be held on 05-08 October 2010, in Istanbul. The Draft Agenda of the Twenty Sixth Session of COMCEC will be considered first at the preparatory meeting of senior officials from 05 to 06 October and then the opening of the Ministerial Session will take place on 07 th October under the chairmanship of H.E. Abdullah GÜL, President of the Republic of Turkey and Chairman of the COMCEC. During the ministerial exchange-of-views session, which will take place in the afternoon of 07 October 2010, Agriculture and rural development will be considered and the heads of delegations will have the opportunity to share their views and experiences with the other participants. Ministers attending the 26 th COMCEC could also conduct bilateral talks with their counterparts. COMCEC Coordination Office will make necessary arrangements if requests are made in advance. The opening ceremony of the 26 th COMCEC meeting to be held on 07 October 2010 will be broadcasted live through internet at: www.comcec.org 3

MUSIAD (Independent Industrialists and Businessmen s Association) 14 th International Business Forum and MUSIAD 13 th International Trade Fair, will be organized on the sidelines of the 26 th COMCEC to reach a better cooperative spirit among public and private sectors. In these events, businessmen will come together to exchange ideas and conduct business. This booklet aims at giving general information on the arrangements being made for the Meetings as well as some practical information for the participants. 4

INFORMATION ON THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE MEETING Date and Place of the Meeting The Twenty Sixth Session of the COMCEC will take place at İstanbul Congress Center in İstanbul, on 05-08 October 2010. Meeting Room All meetings of the Twenty Sixth Session of the COMCEC will be held at İstanbul Congress Center. Airport Welcoming Services The welcoming and farewell services for the delegates will be available from 03 October to 10 October 2010. Delegates who would be obliged to arrive in İstanbul before 03 October due to the flight restrictions, will also be welcomed at the airport provided that they inform the COMCEC Coordination Office in advance. Participants are kindly requested to notify the COMCEC Coordination Office and/or Conference Bureau (see Useful Addresses) of their names and flight schedules by 24 September 2010 at the latest to enable the host officers to meet them at the airport and make necessary arrangements. Transportation There will be a pool of cars for the Delegations. Reserved cars will be available for only ministers. Registration All delegates (whose names are notified to the Organizing Committee through diplomatic channels) are requested to register at İstanbul Congress Hall. Hotel Accommodation Accommodation and meal expenses (excluding all other expenses) of the three delegates (including the head of delegation) from each invited member state at reserved hotels 14

for the meeting, from 04 to 08 October 2010 (inclusive) will be borne by the Turkish Government. Turkish Government will also bear the accommodation and meal expenses (excluding all other expenses) at the same hotels of two participants from each invited international institution to the meeting. Other members of delegations may wish to stay on their own accounts at the same hotels or may choose from the hotels given in the alternative hotels list. All participants are kindly requested to inform the COMCEC Coordination Office and/or Conference Bureau (see Useful Addresses), by 24 September 2010 at the latest, for hotel reservations and welcoming arrangements. Identification badges Identification badges will be issued to all registered delegates. For security reasons, all participants are kindly requested to wear their badges at all times during the meetings and social events. Information Desk The Information Desk located at the lobby of The Hotels and Congress Centre will be at the service of the delegates from 03 October to 10 October from 08.00 to 24.00 hours daily. 15
