Also, verify that the page setup is adjusted for A4 (Europe and Australia) or letter (North America). Test your print settings by printing and measuring WITH A RULER the test square first (page 7). Fold the fabric lengthwise, RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER. Fuse stay tape to WRONG SIDE of the fabric around buttonhole placement on 8. BEFORE REMOVING THE PATTERN, transfer the markings to WRONG SIDE of the fabric and notch the edges of the fabric as indicated. Mark placement of buttonhole, pocket and flap to RIGHT SIDE. CONSTRUCTION Notes: Unless stated otherwise, stitch at 12mm (½") from the edge and match notches and markings with the same numbers. Assemble RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER, namely by placing the right side of a piece against the right side of another one the right side being the side showing when the garment is worn. Glossary: EDGE-FINISH: stitch with a zigzag or serge with an overlocker (serger) over the fabric edge. EDGE-STITCH: stitch RIGHT SIDE up very close to a seam or finished edge. BAR TACK: stitch with a closely set and narrow zigzag for about 10mm (⅜ ) to strengthen an area or seam. To assemble your pattern, cut or fold the margins along the dashed lines only. Then, to place the sheets in the right order, tape them together using the plan (page 8). The pattern board is ready to use; seam allowances are already built-in (12mm-½"). Page 1
1- Hem the top edge on pockets by folding in twice at 12mm (½"). Stitch down the hems and press. Fold in the side and lower edges of the pockets by 12mm (½") and press. Place the pockets to RIGHT SIDE of front panel according to markings and EDGE-STITCH the side and lower edges of the pockets. 2- Fold the flaps lengthwise, RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER, and stitch the short sides. Trim the seam allowances to half and turn flaps inside out. Press and EDGE- STITCH the side and folded edges. Then, place the flaps above the pockets, so as the raw edges are 12mm (½") below flap placement and the folded edge toward the top of the garment. Stitch the flaps at 12mm (½") from the raw edges and trim to half. Fold down the flaps and stitch them at 6mm (¼") from the top. 3- Add vertical BAR-TACKS to the pockets top corners and horizontal BAR-TACKS on top corners of flaps. 4- EDGE-FINISH centre back and slit edges on lower back pieces and stitch them together from the top edge to ➊. Press the centre back seam open. 5- Fold in and stitch down the seam allowances of slit along the folded edge and then to a slant toward centre back seam (see illustration). Add a BAR-TACK over the slanted portion of stitches. 6- Stitch the top of the lower back to the lower edge of the upper back and press the seam open. 7- Stitch back and front panels together at the shoulders, EDGE-FINISH the seam allowances together and press them toward the back. EDGE- STITCH the shoulders over the seam allowances. 8- Stitch the sleeves to the garment, EDGE-FINISH the seam allowances together and press them to the neckline. EDGE-STITCH the seams over the seam allowances. 9- EDGE-FINISH the side and underarm edges and stitch the front and back of the garment together. 10- Make the waist pleat by folding the front panels, WRONG SIDES TOGETHER, to match up ➋ on centre front edges. Continue the fold to the back in the back waist seam. Press the fold and stitch down at 25mm (1") from the folded edge. Then, unfold the garment and press the fold down. 11- Stitch the hood yoke to the hood by matching up ➌ and ➍ and EDGE-FINISH the seam allowances together. EDGE-STITCH the seams over the seam allowances. 12- Make a buttonhole on each side of the hood, according to placement markings, checking beforehand that stay tape was fused to the buttonhole area (see cutting out section). 13- Hem the hood straight edges by folding in twice at 12mm (½"). Stitch down the hem and press. Then, stitch hood to garment neckline edge. Page 2
14- Apply twill tape over the hood, on the neckline seam allowances, by stitching one side close to the stitching line. The stitches must not be visible from the outside. Then, trim the neckline seam allowances narrower than the tape and stitch it down to the garment on the remaining side. These stitches will be visible from the outside. 15- Hem the bottom of the sleeves and the garment by folding in twice at 12mm (½"). Stitch down the hems and press. 16- Cut 115cm (45") off the cord and using a safety pin, thread the cord inside the hood hem. Then, cut the remaining cord length in two and insert them inside the bottom hems, by the back opening. Stitch down the inserted ends inside the hem at about 5cm (2") from centre front edges. If using, thread cords stoppers and knot the cords raw ends. 17- EDGE-FINISH the centre front edges. Separate and fold in the long zipper tapes above the top stoppers, then baste each side on the centre front seam allowances, face down to RIGHT SIDE of the fabric. **TIP: to match up the waist pleat on each side of the zipper, baste one side of the zipper, reattach both sides together and mark the position of the pleat to the remaining side of the zipper, using a chalk or marker. Then, separate again and baste the remaining side to the garment, matching up the marking with the waist pleat. Then, install the zipper foot and stitch the tapes close to the teeth, from the neckline to hem. 18- Fold in the centre front edges and stitch down each side from neckline to hem. IMPRESSION & ASSEMBLAGE Imprimez vos patrons en TAILLE RÉELLE seulement. De plus, vérifiez que la mise en page soit ajustée au format A4 (Europe) ou lettre (Canada). Testez vos réglages en imprimant le carré d essai (page 7) puis mesurez-le AVEC UNE RÈGLE. Celui-ci devrait mesurer 10x10cm ou 4x4". En cas contraire, révisez vos réglages et imprimez à nouveau. Glossaire : SURFILER : piquez au zigzag ou surfilez à la surjeteuse par-dessus le rebord du tissu. SURPIQUER À RAS : piquez sur l ENDROIT près d une couture ou d un bord fini. BRIDE D ARRÊT : piquez au point zigzag très serré et étroit sur une section d environ 10mm (⅜") afin de renforcer une couture. Pour l assemblage du patron, coupez ou pliez chaque feuille le long du pointillé puis collez-les ensemble en suivant le plan (page 8) afin d assembler dans le bon ordre. La planche est prête à utiliser ; les surplus de couture sont déjà inclus (12mm-½"). Page 4
1- Réalisez l ourlet au bord supérieur des poches en rentrant deux fois à 12mm (½ ). Piquez les rentrés et repassez. Rentrez les côtés et le bord inférieur des poches à 12mm (½") puis repassez. Placez les poches à l endroit prévu sur l ENDROIT du devant puis SURPIQUEZ À RAS des côtés et bords inférieurs. 2- Pliez les rabats en longueur, l ENDROIT à l intérieur, et piquez les côtés courts. Réduisez les surplus de moitié et retournez à l endroit. Repassez à plat et SURPIQUEZ À RAS les cotés et la pliure. Ensuite, placez les rabats au-dessus des poches, de sorte que les bords vifs soient à 12mm (½") sous les repères d emplacement puis le côté plié orienté vers le haut. Piquez les rabats à 12mm (½") des bords vifs puis réduisez les surplus de moitié. Rabattez les rabats vers le bas et piquez-les à 6mm (¼") du haut. 3- Réalisez des BRIDES D ARRÊT verticales aux coins supérieurs des poches puis des BRIDES D ARRÊT horizontales aux coins supérieurs des rabats. 4- SURFILEZ les bords du centre dos et de la fente sur les pièces dos inférieures et piquez-les ensemble du haut jusqu à ➊. Ouvrez la couture du centre dos au fer. 5- Rentrez et piquez les surplus de la fente en suivant la pliure puis en biais vers la couture du centre dos (voir schéma). Ensuite, réalisez des BRIDES D ARRÊT par-dessus des portions en biais des piqûres. 6- Piquez le haut des pièces dos inférieur au bas de la pièce dos supérieur puis ouvrez la couture au fer. 7- Assemblez le devant et dos aux épaules, SURFILEZ les surplus ensemble et repassez-les vers l arrière. SURPIQUEZ À RAS, par-dessus des surplus. 8- Piquez les manches au vêtement, SURFILEZ les surplus ensemble puis repassez-les vers l encolure. SURPIQUEZ À RAS, par-dessus des surplus. 9- Assemblez l avant et l arrière du vêtement aux latérales et sous-bras, puis SURFILEZ les surplus séparément. Ouvrez les coutures au fer près des ourlets. 10- Réalisez le pli de taille en pliant les devants, l ENVERS à l intérieur, afin de coïncider ➋. Continuez le pli vers l arrière dans la couture de taille arrière puis repassez. Ensuite, piquez les deux épaisseurs du tissu à 25mm (1") du pli, dépliez le vêtement et repassez le pli vers le bas. 11- Piquez la découpe de capuche à la capuche en faisant coïncider ➌ et ➍ puis SURFILEZ les surplus ensemble. SURPIQUEZ À RAS, par-dessus des surplus. 12- Réalisez une boutonnière sur chaque côté de la capuche, tel qu indiqué sur le patron, en veillant d abord à ce que le ruban d entoilage ait été thermocollé autour de l emplacement de celles-ci (voir la section plan de coupe ). 13- Réalisez un ourlet sur les côtés droits de la Page 5
capuche en rentrant deux fois à 12mm (½"). Piquez les rentrés et repassez-les. Ensuite, piquez la capuche à l encolure du vêtement. 14- Posez le galon par-dessus la capuche, sur les surplus de d encolure, en piquant un côté le plus près possible de la ligne de couture. Cette piqûre ne doit pas être visible sur l endroit du vêtement. Ensuite, réduisez les surplus d encolure afin qu ils soient plus étroits que le galon et piquez son côté restant au vêtement. Cette piqûre sera visible sur l endroit. 15- Réalisez un ourlet au bas des manches et du vêtement en rentrant deux fois à 12mm (½"). Piquez les rentrés et repassez-les. 16- Coupez 115cm (45") du cordon puis à l aide d une épingle de sûreté, enfilez le cordon à l intérieur de l ourlet de la capuche. Ensuite, coupez en deux la longueur restante du cordon et enfilez-les à l intérieur des ourlets au bas du vêtement, par l ouverture au dos. Piquez les extrémités insérées des cordons à l intérieur des surplus d ourlet à environ 5cm (2") du centre devant. Si désiré, enfilez les mentonnets puis nouez les extrémités des cordons. 17- SURFILEZ les bords du centre devant. Séparez le fermoir et rentrez les galons près de l arrêt supérieur. Bâtissez chaque côté du fermoir sur les surplus du centre devant, face contre l endroit du tissu. **ASTUCE: afin de faire coïncider les plis de taille de chaque côté du fermoir, bâtissez un côté du fermoir, puis rattachez-le. À l aide d une craie ou d un marqueur, indiquez la position du pli sur l autre côté du fermoir. Ensuite, séparez le fermoir à nouveau et bâtissez l autre côté du fermoir en alignant le marquage sur le galon avec le pli de taille Ensuite, installez le pied à fermoir et piquez sur le galon près des glissières, de l encolure jusqu à l ourlet. 18- Rentrez les surplus du centre devant et piquez les rentrés de l encolure jusqu à l ourlet.
