EDITO ÉDITO Health, safety and environmental protection (HSE) are essential factors for any exploration-production activity to be sustainable and acceptable to our fellow citizens. So, GDF SUEZ E&P put health and safety at the top of its priorities and does everything possible to preserve them. Through different initiatives, GDF SUEZ E&P also demonstrated its commitment to environmental protection such as recycling platforms in the Dutch North Sea and the supply of electricity to the Amstel offshore platform in the Netherlands from the mainland, thus reducing CO 2 emissions. GDF SUEZ E&P reconciles health and safety with development. The commissioning of Orca (The Netherlands/United Kingdom), Juliet (United Kingdom) and Amstel (The Netherlands) marks the beginning of a strong period of growth in production. In the longer term, ambitious projects currently in development such as Touat (Algeria), Cygnus (UK), Römerberg (Germany) and Jangkrik (Indonesia) and new projects in Brazil and Malaysia will take the baton and continue this growth. The skills and enthusiasm of GDF SUEZ E&P s 1,784 employees, combined with the team spirit of all, mean they are able to rise to all these challenges. GDF SUEZ E&P has acquired the status of an exploration and production company that is recognised and respected by its peers. For several years, GDF SUEZ E&P has been consolidating its position in Europe and, in the meantime, deploying itself in different regions across the globe. Currently, most of the production of GDF SUEZ E&P comes from its European affiliates: Germany, Norway, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Between end of 2013 and beginning of 2014, three new GDF SUEZ E&P operated platforms were put in production in the North Sea. At the same time, GDF SUEZ E&P develops itself in high potential areas such as the Asia-Pacific region, the Arctic, the Caspian Sea, North Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. GDF SUEZ E&P is carrying out ambitious exploration operations in these areas, using its technical skills to overcome numerous technological challenges. In 2013, the success rate of exploration wells was of 59% and 121 Mboe of resources (revisions included) were discovered following exploration activity. GDF SUEZ E&P International SA is shared by GDF SUEZ (70%) and China Investment Corporation (30%). CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) CSR implies transparent and ethical behavior, respect for the health and well-being of people, consideration for stakeholders and compliance with law, as well as adherence to international norms. GDF SUEZ E&P strives to meet the specific challenges posed by local development, and works with representatives from various local stakeholders. For example, in Germany, operations for the rehabilitation of former industrial sites are ongoing and will continue for several years in close collaboration with local authorities. In the Netherlands, the dialogue with different stakeholders about the installation of a platform near the coast allowed a good implementation of the project. Today, with more than 580 employees, the Lingen based affiliate generates about 17% of the German oil production and 10% of the national gas production. GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH has a holding in 185 exploration and production licences out of which 127 are own operated. GDF SUEZ E&P Deutschland GmbH has acquired 17 exploration licences in the Upper Rhine Valley, from which it decided to develop the Römerberg oilfield with its partner Palatina Geocon. In Norway, be recognised as one of the main operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS has built a solid portfolio of exploration and production licences since 2001. The affiliate is operator of the Gjøa field and a partner in several other fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, such as Njord, Fram and Gudrun. GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS is also partner in Snøhvit, the first LNG project in Europe. The Barents Sea is a core area for the company, and a new exploration well is planned for 2014. With Gjøa, GDF SUEZ E&P is one of nine production field operators on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This gas and oil field in the Norwegian North Sea is one of the most significant recent developments for GDF SUEZ. The Gjøa production facility provides many opportunities as a hub for the area, stimulating exploration activity and offering processing and transport capacity for the surrounding fields. GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. is the largest offshore gas producer on the Dutch Continental Shelf. Operating in a mature area, the company is still discovering substantial reserves due to an extensive drilling program often using three drilling rigs at once. Thanks to its knowledgeable and dedicated workforce, various development projects are handled simultaneously. In 2013, GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. installed three new production platforms and successfully engineered, constructed and installed two compression modules. The new D18a-A production platform was brought on stream in December 2013. The Q13a-A and L5a-D production platforms will follow respectively at the beginning and mid-2014. The company currently operates more than 30 production platforms and forms a vital part of the provision of energy to the Netherlands and several other countries. GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. is also leader in the field of transport infrastructure on the Dutch Continental Shelf as operator of Noordgastransport B.V. (NGT) and NOGAT B.V.. Both companies own offshore pipeline systems and treatment stations, transporting and treating gas from both GDF SUEZ E&P Nederland B.V. and other producers on the Dutch, English, Danish and German Continental Shelves. In the United Kingdom, become a leading operator in the UK North Sea, delivering profitable projects, production and value-accretive growth in a safe manner. This will be realised through the short term development of production in the Southern North Sea (SNS) and mid to long-term growth, notably in the Central North Sea (CNS) and in West of Shetland area. GDF SUEZ E&P UK Ltd has a substantial portfolio of UK assets comprising 74 licences, 23 as operator. Cygnus, Orca and Juliet in the SNS are the main operated developments. Cygnus is the largest gas discovery in the SNS in the last 25 years, with gross 2P reserves of approximately 18 billion cubic metres. First gas is expected in late 2015. Orca is a UK/Netherlands cross-border gas field and Juliet is a two-well subsea tie-back development. First gas was announced from Orca in December 2013 and Juliet in January 2014. The affiliate also has a growing portfolio of discoveries and exploration projects, including the operated Faraday and Austen projects in the CNS. The activities of this young emerging affiliate with ambitious business objectives show high potential covering one operated offshore exploration licence (West El Burullus), one operated onshore exploration licence (Wadi Dib and East Wadi Dib), one non-operated onshore production licence (Alam El Shawish West) and one non-operated offshore production licence (Ashrafi). The affiliate is also partner in the first train of Idku liquefaction plant. In West El Burullus licence, the exploration carried out from 2008 to 2014 resulting in two gas discoveries. In Algeria, take part in the development of national resources of a country which contributes to supply Europe and France in particular. GDF SUEZ E&P holds two licences in Algeria: t he Touat licence: GDF SUEZ E&P won in 2002 the exploration licence of Touat, located next to Adrar, in the Algerian Sahara; the Sud-Est Illizi licence where two gas discoveries were made in 2012 and 2013. The exploration and appraisal campaign carried out between 2003 and 2007 in Touat, by GDF SUEZ E&P and SONATRACH, confirmed the presence of important reserves. The estimated 2P reserves are 68.5 billion m 3 of natural gas and 8.5 million barrels of condensates. At plateau phase, gas production should reach 4.5 billion m 3 per year. In 2009, the Touat gas licence development plan was approved by the Algerian authorities. It allows for the drilling of approximately 40 production wells spread over ten fields. The first drilling started during the summer of 2012. During the summer of 2013, following an international call for tenders, Técnicas Reunidas has been selected to build the main gas treatment plant and the gas collector. A team of 30 people from GDF SUEZ E&P is already mobilized in Madrid to monitor the project. Objective: be ready to start production early 2017. A l été 2013, suite à un appel d offres international, Técnicas Reunidas a été sélectionné pour construire l usine de traitement du gaz et les installations de collecte. Une équipe d une trentaine de personnes de GDF SUEZ E&P est déjà mobilisée à Madrid pour assurer le suivi du projet. Objectif : être prêt pour la mise en production prévue début 2017. GDF SUEZ E&P is an operator in an exploration block in Qatar since 2009. Azerbaijan is one of the main producers and exporters of hydrocarbons in the promising Caspian region. GDF SUEZ E&P is the operator of the offshore block 4 with 60% participating interest, in partnership with PetroChina who holds the remaining 40%. Located in the northern most region of Qatar, next to North Field, the biggest non associated gas field in the world, block 4 covers an area of more than 2,500 km². The exploration campaign of block 4 was performed from December 2012 to November 2013 with the drilling of two wells. The first well drilled in the post- Khuffˮ horizon (horizon located above the one of North Field) turned out to be dry. On the other hand, the second exploration well drilled and tests in the pre-khuffˮ horizon (horizon located underneath the one of North Field) confirmed presence of gas. In the Caspian Sea, prepare the development of the Absheron gas field. In 2009, GDF SUEZ E&P acquired 20% of the participating interest in the Absheron offshore block, in the South Caspian Sea, alongside Total and the national Azeri company SOCAR, which each hold a 40% participating interest. In 2011, the consortium drilled an exploration well which reached a depth of 6,874 m and lead to a discovery. In 2012, the drilling of a side track toward the North of the structure confirmed very promising results: the resources are estimated between 150 and 300 billion m 3 of gas with condensates. These volumes correspond to more than six years of natural gas consumption in France. ASIA-PACIFIC ASIE - PACIFIQUE Since 2008, GDF SUEZ E&P has entered the Asia-Pacific region through its participation in licences in Australia, Indonesia and Malaysia, with in particular the participation into two major projects: Jangkrik in Indonesia (as partner) and Bonaparte in Australia (as operator). These projects give GDF SUEZ E&P a strategic position to address the Asian LNG market. Bonaparte LNG is a joint venture between GDF SUEZ (60%) and Australian energy company Santos (40%) to develop a floating liquefaction project in the Bonaparte Basin, in the Timor Sea, 250 kilometres west of the northern Australian city of Darwin. GDF SUEZ Bonaparte Pty Ltd is an Australian subsidiary of GDF SUEZ and the operator of the Project. The Project aims to produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), using natural gas from the three remote offshore fields, Petrel, Tern and Frigate. The proposed floating LNG production facility will be moored over the Petrel field, in 85m to 100m of water, and will process and store the natural gas before offloading it to an LNG carrier. It is expected to produce 2.4 million tonnes of LNG per year. Australian Government environmental approval for the Project was received in October 2012. The Project is expected to enter FEED during 2014, with Final Investment Decision scheduled for 2015. En Australie, renforcer notre portefeuille GNL dans un bassin E&P attractif.
