2 Définitions d un Grand La notion de grands comptes est apparue aux Etats-Unis à la fin des années 60 sous le vocable de «National Accounts». Stevenson (1980) a essayé de définir la notion de grands comptes selon trois critères de classification : Centralisation des achats Multiplicité des centres de production ou livraison Volume d'achat important 3 STEVENSON Thomas H. 3 Définitions d un Grand In a firm's customer portfolio, there is a central core (of customers). The supplier believes that if the exchanges with these customers are managed in a specific way, they can offer greater commercial efficiency. These are the customers the supplier designates as his firm's key accounts. To manage them in a specific way means a different form of management than that usually used for his customers. More specifically, this means the creation of a new mission (thus the creation of a new job, new practices, etc.) and its integration into the existing structure. This mission involves coordinating supplier information and action in time and space in relation to a customer in its entirety. Pardo, C. (2001). Key account management in the industrial field. 4 Définitions d un Grand Second, Global Key Accounts are typically multinational customers that have a growing expectation of being supplied and serviced worldwide in a consistent and co-ordinated way (MiUman 1994, Yip and Madsen 1996). 5 Définitions d un Grand Thus a definition of Global Account Management that combines the elements of strategic importance, a demand for a global supply offering and an ability to receive it, is set out below: " A Global Account is one that is of strategic importance to the achievement of the supplier's corporate objectives, pursues integrated and coordinated strategies on a worldwide basis and demands a globally integrated product/service offering from its suppliers" (Wilson & al 2000) Wilson, K.J., A.F. The Journal of Selling and Major Account Managemen/2(3): Définitions d un Grand This article defines major account as a customer who typically: Involves several people in the buying process before a sale takes place; Purchases a significant volume, both in absolute dollars and as a percent of a supplier's total sales; Buys centrally for a number of geographically dispersed organizational units, e.g., stores, branches, plants; Desires a long-term, cooperative working relationship as a means to innovation and financial success; Expects specialized attention and service, e.g., information and reports about usage, logistical support, inventory management, favorable discounts, ideas for line extensions, or new applications. 6 Définitions d un Grand Les définitions précédentes définissent les grands comptes, soit du point de vue du fournisseur, soit du point de vue du client (Grand ) : Synthétisez ces définitions dans un tableau à deux colonnes, avec d un côté la définition du fournisseur, et de l autre la définition du client Grand. 11 L échelle du Grand Le Grand peut être défini, soit au niveau National («National Account») Européen Global 12 6
