1 FRENCH LANGUAGE ARTS 30-1 IB (HL) (1er semester) Madame Eshak (780) Le programme de French Language Arts 30-1 (FLA) vise au développement de 4 habiletés langagières : Production orale PO Production écrite PÉ Compréhension orale - CO Compréhension écrite - CÉ L appréciation de l apprentissage est également au coeur du programme. Le cours exige une participation active des étudiants en français et un engagement réel. A. LES OBJECTIFS «IMMERSION EN ACTION!» Permettre à l étudiant(e) de se sentir à l aise dans diverses situations de communication. Créer des situations de communication aussi réelles que possible en reliant les activités aux expériences de l étudiant(e). Augmenter les compétences langagières de l étudiant(e). Continuer à développer les processus mentaux de l étudiant tels que critiquer, évaluer, inférer, etc. Encourager une appréciation des valeurs socioculturelles des francophones Encourager une intégration de la technologie dans l apprentissage de la langue. On vous recommande de lire régulièrement en français pour mieux réussir en FLA 30 et à votre examen en vue de l obtention du diplôme. B. ÉTUDES DE LA LITTERATURE et TEXTES 1. Roman 2. GRAMMAIRE ET SYNTAXE La grammaire sera faite régulièrement ici et là, dépendant des genres de textes à l étude. Naturellement, les verbes seront revus, ainsi que d autres notions comme les types de phrase, l accord et le participe passé. Selon les besoins, il sera possible également de combler certaines lacunes. En particulier futur antérieur, plus-que-parfait, conditionnel passé, subjonctif présent et à la 3 e personne du passé simple, le choix de prépositions avec les verbes transitifs indirects, les deux points, les points de suspension, les accords des noms, des adjectifs, des participes passés. (see disclaimer) No change to the course grade will result. 5. Missing M (Tan M ) The student has missed an assessment but has the opportunity to complete the required work. The work will be evaluated when submitted according to a timeline set up in consultation between the student and the teacher. This code will calculate as a zero until the code has been replaced with a numeric value. Please Note: A range of assessment information is used to determine a student s final grade. At Archbishop MacDonald High School, individualized assessments provide specific information regarding student progress and overall performance in the course. Student assessment may vary from student to student to adapt to differences in student needs, learning styles, preferences, and paces. Due to special circumstances assessment criteria may vary from student to student in the same course.

3 IB The FLA 30IB Course covers the content of both the Alberta Diploma FLA Program of Studies and the International Baccalaureate Organization French B Higher Level Program of Studies incorporating the IB Learner Profile, IB Theory of Knowledge and IB Approaches to Learning into lessons. 5 OPTIONS: teachers select two from the following five options Cultural diversity Customs and traditions Health Leisure Science and technology IB- Diploma Language B Assessment component* External assessment Paper 1 (1 hour 30 minutes): Receptive skills Text-handling exercises on five written texts, based on the core. Paper 2 (1 hour 30 minutes): Written productive skills Two compulsory writing exercises: Weighting 70% 25% 25% Section A: One task of words, based on the options, to be selected from a choice of five. Section B: Response of words to a stimulus text, based on the core Written assignment: Receptive and written productive skills Creative writing of words plus a word rationale, based on one or both of the literary texts read. Internal assessment Internally assessed by the teacher and externally moderated by the IB. Individual oral (8 10 minutes) Based on the options: 15 minutes preparation time and a 10-minute (maximum) presentation and discussion with the teacher.
