2 FORMATION APPROFONDIE SEMESTRE 3 COURS DE TRONC COMMUN Les étudiants en échange, y compris les étudiants ESC, ont la possibilité de suivre le premier semestre de la formation approfondie soit entièrement en français soit entièrement en anglais. Les cours du tronc commun ont lieu d octobre à février. Ce semestre est divisé en deux parties, la première d octobre à décembre et la deuxième en janvier et février. 3 FORMATION APPROFONDIE - English Track SEMESTER 3 CORE COURSES French students as well as exchange students have the possibility of following the classes of Semester 3 either in French or English, without the possibility of mixing the two tracks. Semester 3 is made up of a range of core courses grouped under concentration areas. The core courses take place from October to February. This semester is divided into two parts, the first part runs from October to December and the second part from January to February. 4 FORMATION APPROFONDIE SEMESTRE 4 Au semestre 4 de la Formation Approfondie, il est proposé à chaque étudiant d élaborer son parcours en choisissant parmi les modules proposés par chaque pôle de compétences une Option Académique Principale (OAP) et une Option Académique Complémentaire (OAC). L OAP est composée d une période transversale commune à tous les étudiants inscrits dans la même OAP (durée : 75 heures) et d une Dominante laissée au libre choix de chaque étudiant (durée : 60 heures) à l intérieur du périmètre de l OAP choisie. (ex : choix de l OAP marketing, obligation de choisir une dominante parmi celles proposées au sein de l OAP marketing). Chaque étudiant doit ensuite choisir une OAC (durée : 60 heures). Celle-ci est obligatoirement différente du domaine de l OAP. (ex : si choix de l OAP Finance, choix d une OAC dans un autre domaine que la Finance) En parallèle, les étudiants réalisent le Rapport d Analyse Stratégique (RAS) et le semestre s achève par une simulation de stratégie d entreprise, Mirage. SEMESTER 4 Students need to choose one OAP (Major Academic Option) and one OAC (Complementary Academic Option) which must be in another academic field from the OAP. Furthermore, within the OAP students may have to choose a dominante (Course Major). Please note, there is no choice of course major in the International Management Option (IMO). We offer a certain number of OACs in English. Beside the chosen options there are compulsory courses that exchange students may follow: - ARTEMIS: this is a strategic management simulation organised in small work groups. The objective is to be able to take appropriate strategic decisions and to implement them for the success of the company. This simulation gives a complete overview of strategic leadership approaches. - RAS (Strategic Analysis Report): The strategic Analysis Report is a rewarding exercise in terms of the acquisition of strategic analysis skills and team work. Working in groups of 5, students choose an existing company and undertake a fully-documented and rigorous analysis of its strategy. The choice of the company must be approved by the strategy lecturer concerned who will then supervise the drafting of the report. 4

6 PRESENTATION OF THE OAP AND OAC COURSES Semester 4 is divided into two separate periods which are optional: Period 1 OAP Major Academic Option: OAP: Période Transversale (Multi-approach core courses/75 hours/10 ECTS) and Dominante (Course Major/60 hours/8 ECTS) Students are required to choose one Major Academic Option (OAP) amongst a choice of 5 : 1. 8 FORMATION PROFESSIONNALISANTE SEMESTRES 5 ET 6 La formation professionnalisante se compose de deux semestres : - Semestre 5 de septembre à décembre : Possibilité de suivre un certain nombre de cours dont un cours de stratégie d entreprise préparatoire à l examen de sortie (Grand Ecrit), une activité pédagogique SESAME (Séminaire d Etudes Stratégiques Appliquées au Management des Entreprises) et une Option Professionnelle. Dans le cadre de l option professionnelle, un mémoire de recherche doit être réalisé. - Semestre 6 de janvier à juin : Le semestre 6 est entièrement consacré au stage professionnel de 6 mois qui doit être effectué dans le cadre de l option professionnelle suivie et est soumis à la validation préalable du responsable de l option en question. The full year (formation professionnalisante) is divided into two semesters: - Semester 5, from September to December, offers the following classes: A 15 hour strategy class leading to the final Strategy Examination (Grand Ecrit). Both the class and examination may be offered in English. A SESAME project: a company-related strategic consulting project organised in work groups of 5 to 6 students. The SESAME is offered only in French. For exchange students, an equivalent strategy activity will be offered. An OP (Professional Option): there are currently 18 professional options offered per year. Exchange students must choose one professional option. Please refer to page 10 for a detailed list of all the OPs on offer. A Research Project will be carried out during the Professional Option and will have to be completed by the end of January. - Semester 6, from January to June, is entirely dedicated to the realisation of a sixmonth internship in a company operating in the sector covered by the professional option. Both the company and the placement duties must be approved by the school. The placement will be evaluated by the company and will also generate an academic dissertation establishing links between the placement activities and the discipline s conceptual research frameworks. 8
