6 1. GETTING STARTED 1.1 Connecting the device Take the mr Safe outdoor IP camera out of the box. Attach the wifi antenna and the bracket. Mount the bracket to a wall and connect the cables in a waterproof box. Plug the (non-waterproof) adapter into a wall socket. Connect a network cable to the camera (RJ45 port). Connect the other end of the cable into your router. If no internet cable is available at the desired location, you can configure the camera close to your modem. 1.2 Software installation Download the software from and begin the software installation. Click Next to start the installation. 5

7 The system will automatically make a new folder (as shown above), where the software will be installed. Click Next to continue. NOTE: If you want to save the software on another location please click Browse and choose the folder where you want to install the software. Click Next to continue. Select the Create a desktop icon button to create a shortcut on your desktop. Click Next to continue. 6

8 Click Install to complete the installation. The progress of the installation will be shown. This can take a few minutes. When the installation is finished the software will automatically open on your screen and there will be a shortcut on your desktop. 7

9 2. TERMINOLOGY LAN: Local Area Network: Your home network, which includes your internet modem and all the equipment in the house that is connected to the network via cable or Wi-Fi. WAN: Wide Area Network: The internet, if you have an Internet connection at home or anywhere else. Resolution: The quality and sharpness of the images. The resolution is expressed in pixels horizontal x vertical. The higher the resolution the better the image quality of the IP camera. Stream (Bitrate): The number of bits (transmission of information) that can be sent or received per unit of time via a network connection. A bit is the smallest amount of information. The higher the bitrate, the more information per unit of time will be send or received. Framerate: The number of frames per second being imaged. 3. WIFI SETTINGS Click the mrsafe shortcut on your desktop to start the program. A quick start menu will automatically appear. The quick start menu shows 3 steps that you can browse through with the Next button. Click Close to end the quick start. 8

10 Make sure that the IP camera is connected to your LAN with the network cable. The IP camera will now automatically be found in your local LAN area. Right click on the IP camera in the LAN list and choose Set WIFI connection. 9

11 Select Start WIFI setting and press Scan. The system is now going to search for local WIFI connections. When the scan is finished please select your local WIFI in the Network name (SSID) box. Type your network password and click OK. After confirming, the IP camera will automatically restart. This can take a few minutes. The camera is now connected with WIFI. That means that you can unplug the network cable after the WIFI connection is tested and move the camera to another location within the WIFI range. 10

12 4. LAN CAMERA All the cameras that are online in your local network (LAN) will be displayed in the LAN list. The color of the camera icon next to the name of the camera (CAM ID) will change depending on the status of the camera: Gray: Camera not available (offline) Blue: Camera available (online) Red: Camera is activated and viewed 4.1 LAN Camera browsing Go to the LAN list and double click on the camera you want to see. The program is now going to make contact with your IP camera. This can take a few seconds. 11

13 When the image appears, the camera is ready to operate. If the image is not completely clear /sharp, you can turn the lens focusing ring till the image appears sharp. If you want to control the camera and change the viewing angle you have to double click on the image. The image will reappear with a white edge. Now you can control the camera with the control panel. (for more information go to chapter 6.22 Control Panel ). 12

14 4.2 LAN Camera settings You can change the settings of each camera by right clicking on the camera you want to adjust Setting options Change the device alias You can change the camera ID into another name. Type a new name in the box and press OK. The camera will now have another name instead of its ID. 13

15 Set the IP address You can change the IP address of your camera individually. Choose for DHCP if you want to use the automatic assigned IP address. If you want to use the same IP address every time, you select Fixed IP. Put in the IP address manually by clicking in the IP address box. Press OK to save changes. The device status will show Login successful when the camera is logged into the mrsafe server Set the local video plan 14

16 With the local video plan you can set up an automatic recording schedule for your camera. Just click on the specific day you want to record the images and press Add. Choose the start time when the camera must start recording and choose the end time when the camera must stop recording. Press Add to save the settings, the previous menu will reappear. Press Apply to confirm the video plan. NOTE: Your computer must be turned ON, the PC software must be turned ON and the camera must be active in the PC software while recording images with the video plan. The images will be saved ONLY on your computer and will ONLY be viewable on your computer Set time zone If the time zone of the system isn t right you can change it by clicking on Set time zone and press the arrow. A list of all time zones will appear. Choose your time zone and press OK to save the time zone Restore the default setting To delete all previous settings and passwords of the camera select restore the default setting. A pop-up window will appear to ask if you are sure to restore the default settings. Press Yes to delete all settings. 15

17 Device restart You can restart the IP camera by pressing on Device restart. The camera will now restart. This can take a few minutes. 4.3 Group Management In the LAN list, right click the blank space. Following pop-up menu will appear. You can make different groups of cameras in the LAN list. Click Create a group. Fill in a name for the camera group and press OK to save the settings. A folder will appear in the LAN list. To add a camera to the group, select the camera ID with the left button, hold the left button and drag it into the folder. 16

18 To delete a group, right click on the group name. Click on delete a group in the pop-up menu. 17

19 5. WAN CAMERA 5.1 WAN Login Press Register in the upper right corner. The pop-up window above will appear. Enter a username, password an address. Press Register to confirm your registration. For use over the Internet (WAN), you will be asked to log in. There are 2 possibilities to login. 1. You can login per camera. Find the login details at the bottom of the IP Camera. You need to enter the user name (CAM ID) and Password (Login Password). Now you can only see the camera you have logged into. 18

20 2. To see a list of all your cameras, you can log in with the username and password you have created yourself. Right click in the blank space an choose Add device. You can add all your cameras by entering each camera ID and access code (on the bottom of the camera). Now you can view all you cameras by just entering your own username and password and you don t have to memorize all the camera ID s and access codes anymore. If you forgot your password press Forgot password?, enter your information and an with a new password will be send to your address. To logout press Logout in the upper right corner. All the cameras that are in the wide area network (WAN) will be displayed in the WAN list. 22 5.3 WAN Camera settings You can change the settings of each camera by right clicking on the camera you want to adjust Setting options Add device You can rename the camera you want to add by entering a new name in the Device alias box. Enter the device ID and access code (at the bottom of the IP Camera) and press OK. The new camera will now be shown in the WAN list. 21

23 Change ACCESS CODE To change the access code, enter the new code in de Set access code box and verify the new code by entering the same code in the box below. Press OK to save the setting. NOTE: The next time the system asks for the access code, you have to enter the new code! To delete the new code, restore the default settings and the original access code will be applied again Change the device alias You can change the camera ID into another name. Type a new name in the box and press OK. The camera will now have another name instead of its ID SD Card query For more information go to chapter SD Card. 5.4 Group Management In the WAN list, right click the blank space. Following pop-up menu will appear. 22

24 You can make different groups of cameras in the WAN list. Click Create a group. Enter a name for the camera group and press OK to save the settings. A folder will appear in the WAN list. To add a camera to the group, select the camera ID with the left button, hold the left button and drag it into the folder. 23

26 6. MENU INSTRUCTIONS There are 3 different menus in the system: 1. Main menu 2. Control Panel 3. Bottom menu 6.1 Main menu You can watch video in full screen by pressing the 4 arrows button. To exit full screen mode click Exit full screen in the upper right corner. 25

27 The gear wheel is used for making changes in the settings. Closing the main window: means that when you press the in the upper right corner you can choose between minimizing to the status bar or exit the software. Exit software: when you close the software you can choose if the program asks you to confirm the exit of the software Notifications: You can choose if notifications will be shown or not. 3D Option: if you select the 3D, the software will be using the video card of your computer. Update: if you click on the Update online button you will be redirected to the mrsafe website where you can download the software update. Set program language to: here you can choose another program language. 26

28 Default folder: here you can choose the destination folder of the files that you record. To change the destination folder press + to choose another folder. NOTE: Loop recording means that when the capacity for saving files is exceeded, the program will automatically remove the oldest files to save the newest files. PC captured files: this is the folder where the pictures you have taken will be saved. To change the destination folder, press and choose another destination folder. If you want to browse through your captured images press Open file Directory. Alarm view settings: when you choose to set an alarm you can adjust the amount of seconds the alarm will be shown/heard. Clear record file: remove all recorded video s from the IP cameras. Clear picture file: remove all recorded pictures from the IP cameras. Clear login records: remove all logins from the IP cameras. 27

29 Local alarm record: you can choose the amount of seconds the program will record an alarm in the PC software. Local alarm capture: You can choose the amount of seconds the program will capture pictures when the alarm goes off. Local alarm music: you can select a music file from your computer to use as the alarm indication. Press OK to save the settings. 28

Add device: you can add an extra IP camera Change management password: you can change your login password What to do if you have changed the password of your camera, but you have forgotten the new password? A. In case you have NOT registered an account on the server (see Register menu): If the IP camera is ON and connected via a network cable, you should press the reset button on one of the cables of the device at least 10 seconds using for example a cocktail stick. The camera makes a clicking sound and will now restart. The password of the camera and the login server is now equal to the information on the sticker on the bottom of the camera. The camera should be completely reset. B. In case the camera has been added to an account (name + password) that you have created on the server using the Register menu: Click in the software menu on Forgot password. Enter your name and address. The server will then send you an with a new password. Change ACCESS CODE: you can change the access code of the camera (sticker on the bottom). For more information go to chapter Change access code. Change device alias: you can change the name of you camera. For more information go to chapter Change device alias. 29

31 With the magnifying glass you can search for a local video that has been recorded. All the recorded files are listed on the left side. If you click on a particular file it will open in the black window. Then left the screen click once, it will turn smaller with a white edge. Now you can navigate the footage with the menu on the bottom (play, stop, rewind, forward, etc...). With the lock icon you can change the login password (only in WAN menu). Enter the old password and the new password (2 times to verify). 30

32 The calculator icon is a logbook where all the logins are listed. This way you can see who and how much you/someone else has logged in into the system. If you want to remove the logbook, click Clear and all the data will be removed. The question mark icon is the support file. If you have a question about the software you can search the help file for the answer. 31

33 In the right top corner, there is a menu Register. Using this menu, you can create an account on the server, using your own login & password. (For more information see chapter 5.1 WAN login ). 6.2 Control Panel With this menu you can control your camera. 35 6.2.1 Settings With the settings button you can change the sharpness, brightness, saturation, etc of your camera footage. The alarm management is used to set up the sensitivity of the alarm. That means that if you choose for a number between 0 and 5 the alarm will have a low sensitivity and will only go off when there is an obvious movement in front of the camera. When you choose a number between 5 and 10 the alarm will have a high sensitivity and will go off when there is a small movement in front of the camera. NOTE: we recommend keeping the sensitivity of your alarm low to prevent that the alarm goes off every 10 seconds. 34

37 7. CAMERA MANAGEMENT 7.1 Camera settings To change the settings go to the upper left corner and press the button. 41 8. ALARM SETTINGS 8.1 Alarm management You can set alarms that will be activated by movements (motion) in front of the camera. Click on. The alarm management is used to set up the sensitivity of the alarm. 43 8.3 Alarm view settings In the Settings menu, go to the Video tab and Alarm view settings : when you choose to set an alarm you can adjust the amount of seconds the alarm will be shown. 42

44 9. USE OF MICRO SD CARD 9.1 Placing the micro SD card Important: The SD card should be a Class 10 SD card with a maximum capacity of 32 GB! 1. Power off the IP Camera. 2. Open the IP camera by removing the 4 screws. 3. Carefully take off the backside. 4. Insert the micro SD card. 5. Power ON the IP Camera. 9.2 Configuration of the camera for use with micro SD card Go to the tab LAN. Right-click on the camera icon and select SD Card Configuration. Format the micro SD card and wait a minute until the formatting is done. Select the settings for the micro SD card, for example similar to the ones indicated in the above image and click Apply to confirm the settings. Click Quit to finish the configuration of the micro SD Card. The camera will now record on the SD Card. Important: When the SD card is full, the oldest files will be deleted and the newer files will be added. 43

45 9.3 SD card query In the tab WAN, right click the camera icon and select SD card query. OR In the tab LAN, right click the camera icon and select SD file download. You can now view a list with all files saved on your SD card. 44

46 All files saved on your SD-card will be saved as.hkv files. - You can choose Start conversion to convert the.hkv files to.avi-files. This way, you can use your video recordings for various purposes, for example YouTube. - You can also choose Save as and just save the files as.hkv files on your PC. You will only be able to view them on PC s that have the mrsafe software installed. 9.4 Use of the FTP server You can only use the FTP function with an SD card in the camera. In the screen where you adjust the settings of the SD card, you can also give the details of the FTP server, namely: 45

47 IP address of the FTP server Login Name Password The default port is port 21 The FTP server needs to be specified INCLUDING ftp:// and should not point to sub-directories. The user should have rights to create / append / delete / sub-directories or full access. 10. 52 1. AAN DE SLAG 1.1 Aansluiten van het apparaat - Neem de mr Safe outdoor IP camera uit de doos. Bevestig de wifi-antenne en de beugel. - Monteer de beugel aan een wand en verbind de kabels in een waterdichte kabeldoos. - Steek de (niet-waterdichte) adapter in een stopcontact. - Sluit een netwerkkabel aan op de camera (RJ45-poort). Als er geen netwerkkabel beschikbaar is op de gewenste plaats, dient u de camera dicht bij uw modem te configureren. 1.2 Software installatie Download de software op en start de software installatie. Klik Next om de installatie te starten. 5

53 Het systeem zal automatisch een nieuwe map aanmaken (zoals hierboven weergegeven), waar de software zal worden opgeslagen. Klik Next om door te gaan. OPMERKING: Als u de software op een andere locatie wil opslaan klik Browse en kies de map waarin u de software wil opslaan. Klik Next om door te gaan. Kies de Create a desktop icon knop om een snelkoppeling op uw bureaublad te plaatsen. Klik Next om door te gaan met de installatie. 6

54 Klik Install om de installatie te voltooien. De voortgang van de installatie zal getoond worden. Dit kan enkele minuten duren. Wanneer de installatie voltooid is, zal de software zich automatisch opstarten en zal er een snelkoppeling naar het programma op uw bureaublad staan (indien u dit gekozen hebt tijdens de installatie). 7

55 2. TERMINOLOGIE LAN: Local Area Network: Uw thuis-netwerk, dat uw internet modem en alle apparatuur omvat in het huis dat is aangesloten op het netwerk via kabel of Wi-Fi. WAN: Wide Area Network: Het internet, een internetverbinding thuis of ergens anders. Resolutie: De kwaliteit en scherpte van de beelden. De resolutie wordt uitgedrukt in pixels horizontaal x verticaal. Hoe hoger de resolutie hoe beter de beeldkwaliteit van de IP-camera. Bitrate: Het aantal bits (overdracht van informatie) die via een netwerkverbinding kan worden verzonden of ontvangen per tijdseenheid. Een bit is de kleinste hoeveelheid informatie. Hoe hoger de bitrate, hoe meer informatie per tijdseenheid te verzenden of ontvangen. Framerate: Het aantal frames die per seconde in beeld worden gebracht. 3. WIFI INSTELLINGEN Klik de mrsafe snelkoppeling op uw bureaublad om het programma op te starten. Een snelle start verschijnt automatisch.
