FIPA would like to welcome all our new families and welcome back our returning families. In an effort to be "green", FIPA sends paper copies only once a year. We kindly ask you to fill out all the form and print clearly. Thank you You will find the following information in this package: - French notebook form (1 per student in the program- MANDATORY) - FIPA membership form (1 form per family- OPTIONAL) - French Video Club Form (will start first week of October- OPTIONAL) - French Book Club (will start in October- OPTIONAL) - FIPA T-shirt and bag (OPTIONAL) - Flyer for FIPA Annual Back to School Parents Night out (Free for members) on September 27 th Flyer for our Free FIPA Breakfast on Tuesday September 24 th We will launch the Free FIPA Homework Helpline the first week of October. 2 SUNSET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FRENCH DEPARTMENT SCHOOL YEAR Payment online Dear Parents: Students in the French program learn to write in cursive and work with supplies and books that can only be imported from France as they are not available in the United States. The French International Program Association (FIPA), a not-forprofit organization, purchases and imports these items in advance in order to have them available at the beginning of each school year. The cost of these items and shipping expenses is $30.00 per child and includes: - 5 notebooks per child (plus refill) - 5 colored notebooks covers - Reading book series - Support material for teachers Thank you for sending your payment by check or money order payable to FIPA. Please return it to your child s French content teacher in a sealed envelope labeled with attention FIPA, your child name, grade and home room teacher no later than Friday, September 27, 2013 together with the information requested below. The French International Program Association (FIPA), une association à but non lucratif (équivalent loi 1901 en France), achète tout le matériel à l avance afin que vos enfants puissent avoir le nécessaire dès la rentrée des classes. 4 SUNSET - FIPA Video Club Membership sunset@fipamiami.org Payment online FIPA is pleased to give our kids the opportunity to watch a great variety of French movies, and some American movies in their French version. The membership cost is $20 year for FIPA members and $40 for non-members. Our video library contains over 200 movies, DVDs and video tapes. Last year we ordered new DVDs, such as Le Petit Nicolas, Lucky Luke, Titeuf, and Tintin. The complete list is available at our website. In addition, any French DVD donation is welcome! Video club members will receive a new movie once a week on Wednesday. The movie is then due back the following Wednesday. We encourage and thank parents for helping their children to return their videos on time! The fee for lost videos is $20. All DVDs are in zone 2 (Europe), so you must have a zone 2 or a multi-zone DVD player. (Amazon.com sells multi-zone DVD player at around $60.00) If you already have a zone 1 DVD player, there are websites that can help you to make zone 2 movies playable.
