E L H Connect the Ethernet cable into the ET port (left-most port). f you are not using PoE, also connect an HP 5V power supply. Caution: 48V supply, as used by other P phone vendors, will permanently damage this phone. se only a Hewlett- Packard (HP) 5V external power supply (J9767).. ET PC 5V DC -B B f no PoE available B port (not usable at this time; pending future enhancements) *Headsets: The following headsets have been tested with the HP 4120 P Phone: etcom headset (Part )and snom headset (H MM2). 6 E L H HP 4120 Quick tart uide igning n ign in sing Lync 2010 ELH f Microsoft Lync 2010 communications software is installed on your computer, you can simplify the phone sign-in process, and make and receive Lync 2010 Phone Edition calls from your computer by using the B cable to connect your phone to your computer. 1. Establish your Ethernet connection using the ET (leftmost) port on the phone. f you are not using PoE, also connect a Hewlett-Packard (HP) 5V external power supply (J9767) 1 to the phone. f no PoE available ET PC 5V DC -B B Port 2. ign in to Lync on your computer. 1. The power supply (not shipped with the phone) can be ordered through your HP sales representative. Power supply HP 5V (J9767) is the only power supply covered under the HP warranty. 6

Connect the Type (larger, rectangular) end of the B cable to a B port on your computer and the Type B (smaller, square) end of the B cable to the -B B port at the back of the phone. ET PC 5V DC -B B Port The connection is detected and you are prompted for your credentials on your computer. 4. Enter your credentials. The phone begins the sign-in process. 7

8 E L H HP 4120 Quick tart uide ELH udio Device ettings f you have already configured Lync 2010 to use another audio device, for example a headset, you must change the selected device in Lync. 1. On your computer, open Lync. 2. On the lower left part of the Lync main window, click the Primary Device icon. 3. Then click udio Device ettings, and select Lync 2010 Phone Edition as your audio device. ign in sing a P f you do not have Lync installed on your computer, you can sign in to Lync Phone Edition by using a sign-in personal identification number (P). However, you will have limited access to certain features, such as voice mail, calendar, and call logs, as well as reduced functionality. (This method also requires that the Ethernet cable be connected to the ET port on the phone.) ET PC 5V DC -B B Port 8

E L H Create/eset Your ign-in P To create or reset your sign-in P, do one of the following: On your computer: 1. Open Microsoft Outlook, and click Online Meeting from the Home page. ote: n many Outlook clients, Online Meeting is listed in the ew tems dropdown. 2. From the meeting invitation, click Online Meeting. 3. Click Forgot your dial-in P? 4. From the P settings page, click ign n, then create or reset your P. From a web browser: 1. n the address bar of your web browser, type the address of the Dial-in Conferencing ettings page that was provided to you by your support team (e.g., dialin). 2. Once the webservice has opened, reset your P. f you have trouble with both options, please contact your support team. 9

10 E L H HP 4120 Quick tart uide ELH ign in to Your Phone sing Your P 1. f you do not have a computer connected to the phone, from the Welcome screen, select o. 2. Enter your phone number or extension, then select ext. 3. Enter your P, then select ign n. Configure Your P to nlock Phone The P auto-lock feature is enabled by default in Lync erver, so if the administrator has not disabled it, you will be prompted to create a P upon registering your phone. Once the auto-lock P has been set, your phone will lock when left unattended for a specified period of time (determined by your support team). You also have the option to manually lock/unlock your phone. 10

On the Desk Phone etup screen, enter a P. ote: By default, common patterns are not permitted in the P field; however, your administrator may have changed the defaults. E L H 2. Enter the P again. 3. Click Done. To change your P once it has been set: 1. Click the Menu key, and select ettings. 2. Press the key. 3. elect Change P. 11

12 E L H HP 4120 Quick tart uide Customizing Your Phone ELH To complete the Desk Phone etup process, you will be prompted to customize your phone settings, such as the time zone, date, and time format. 1. On the Desk Phone etup screen, click ext. 2. elect your time zone, date, and time format, then click ext. 3. Click Done to begin using your phone, or click ettings for more options. ote: fter your phone has been set up, you can access the ettings menu at any time by clicking the Menu button, and then selecting ettings. 12

From the Home screen, select the Contacts icon. 2. elect the contact group the user is in. 3. elect the contact s name, then press Call. earch for a Contact 1. Press the numbers on the keypad that correspond to the contact name or the phone extension. For example, to find "Tony mith," begin pressing 8669*76484, where "*" is the space between the first and last name. 2. elect the contact s name, then press Call. eceive a Call From the ncoming Call screen, do one of the following: To receive the call, select nswer or pick up the handset. To receive a call with a headset, press. To receive a call using the speakerphone, press. 16

Mute a Call To mute yourself when in a call, press the Mute key on the phone, or select Hold. To unmute, press the Mute key again. Please avoid cleaning liquids, as they might damage the surface or the internal electronics of the phone. Magnetic Earpiece Caution: The earpiece of the HP 4120 has a strong magnetic field that can attract ferromagnetic objects, such as pins, paperclips, staples, thumbtacks, and other metallic items. Be careful when the earpiece is near these objects. harp objects that adhere to the magnets in the earpiece may result in cuts or injury to the ear, face, and/or hands.
