Faculté des Lettres et des Sciences Humaines Faculty of Humanities BACHELOR EN TRADUCTION ET LANGUES VIVANTES BACHELOR IN TRANSLATION AND FOREIGN LANGUAGES GRADE Bachelor en traduction et langues vivantes OBJECTIFS Cette formation de Bachelor en traduction et en langues vivantes permet à l'étudiant d'acquérir les compétences linguistiques suffisantes utiles à une conversation, à un débat etc.; de favoriser et d encourager l apprentissage des langues et de leur littérature; de maîtriser des habiletés linguistiques et des connaissances socioculturelles pour pouvoir communiquer de façon efficace tant à l oral qu à l écrit. Ce programme d étude vise à former des candidats aptes à assurer la traduction de documents écrits et l interprétation orale lors des événements. Il permet de développer l'esprit analytique et le jugement professionnel de l'étudiant et d'assurer une formation de haut niveau en linguistique. GRADE Bachelor in translation and foreign languages OBJECTIVES The Bachelor in translation and foreign languages program enables students to acquire the sufficient language skills useful for a conversation, debate etc ; to promote and encourage the learning of languages and their literature, to master language skills and socio-cultural knowledge in order to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. This study program aims at training suitable candidates capable of ensuring the translation of written documents and oral interpretation at events. It helps to develop the analytical skills and professional judgment of the student and provide a high-level training in linguistics. LANGUES D ENSEIGNEMENT Le programme est dispensé en français et/ou en anglais. DURÉE DU PROGRAMME Trois ans (90 crédits) HORAIRE D ETUDES Cours de jour et cours de soir à temps partiel 2 semestres d études par année universitaire : Automne et printemps (cours d été optionnels) CONDITIONS D ADMISSION Baccalauréat libanais ou son équivalent Agrément du comité académique de l Université après étude du dossier scolaire du candidat Freshman accrédité (programmes disponibles à la LCU) DÉBOUCHÉS Le diplômé peut prétendre à des emplois diversifiés dans lesquels seront mises en œuvre différentes activités telle que la traduction de documents écrits ainsi que la traduction orale lors des événements. Dès l obtention de son diplôme, l étudiant possède un niveau de traducteur doté d'une culture générale de niveau universitaire et bien formé aux techniques de sa profession. Il peut exercer différentes métiers en tant : que rédacteur en chef dans des revues, qu enseignant de langues, que traducteur assermenté, qu interprète dans des conférences internationales, etc. L obtention de ce diplôme permet à l étudiant d entreprendre des études de cycle supérieur (Master, Doctorat). LANGUAGES OF INSTRUCTION The program is bilingual (French and / or English) PROGRAM DURATION Three years (90 credits). COURSES SCHEDULE Part-time, day courses and evening courses 2 semesters per academic year: Fall and spring (summer courses are optional) ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalent The consent of the University s Academic Advisory Committee after studying the applicant s school file Freshman programs are available at LCU CAREER OPPORTUNITIES The graduate can undertake various jobs in which will be implemented various activities such as the translation of written documents and oral interpretation during events. Upon graduation, the student reaches the level of translator with a general culture of university level and will be well trained in his profession. He may carry out different jobs such as : Editor in journals Language teacher Sworn translator Interpreter in international conferences, etc. After obtaining this degree, the student is able to undertake advanced studies (Master, Doctorate).
DOCUMENTS REQUIS POUR L ADMISSION photos passeport récentes; Une photocopie de la carte nationale d'identité ou l'extrait d état civil individuel récent (ou une photocopie du passeport pour les étrangers); Une photocopie certifiée de l extrait d'état civil familial récent (seulement pour les Libanais); Une attestation originale de la Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale ou de son équivalent, s il y a lieu; L'attestation du Baccalauréat libanais ou d'un diplôme jugé équivalent certifiée conforme par le Ministère de l'education et de l Enseignement supérieur; Les détenteurs du Baccalauréat Technique (BT) doivent faire certifier leur diplôme et en demander l équivalence auprès de la Commission des équivalences; Une photocopie du relevé de notes des trois dernières années secondaires certifiée conforme par l'établissement scolaire; L'attestation des études universitaires déjà accomplies, s'il y a lieu; Les documents précités doivent être en français ou en anglais ; sinon ils doivent être accompagnés d une traduction certifiée française ou anglaise, faite à l université, à l exception de l extrait d Etat civil familial et l attestation de la CNSS. REQUIRED ADMISSION DOCUMENTS recent passport-size photos; A photocopy of the National Identity Card or a recent Personal Civil Status Record (or a photocopy of the passport for foreign applicants); A certified photocopy of a recent Family Civil Status Record (for Lebanese nationals only); An attestation from the National Social Security Fund or its equivalent, if applicable; A certified copy of the Lebanese Baccalaureate or its equivalent issued by the Ministry of Higher Education; Holders of the Technical Baccalaureate (BT) must have their degree certified and then receive the equivalent rating of their degree by the Commission of equivalences; A copy of the official transcripts, certified by the school of origin, for the last three years of secondary school; A certified copy of the official transcripts of any prior university study, if applicable; Documents must be prepared in French or in English; if not, they must be accompanied with certified French or English translations made at the university, except for the Family Civil Status Record and the attestation from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
