2 ANA MONTIEL En se décrivant elle-même comme une «enthousiaste professionnelle», Ana est par certains aspects une femme de la Renaissance. Ses multiples passions et intérêts ne cessent de s accumuler avec les années. Certaines de ses influences sont l architecture utopique, la philosophie orientale, l illustration botanique antique, l astronomie, la physique quantique, le mouvement Bauhaus, les films expérimentaux de Maya Deren, et le Livre Rouge de Jung. Avec une éducation en arts appliqués (Logroño Arts School et Université de Barcelone), elle ne cesse d étudier de nouvelles techniques, jusqu à monter son studio de design à Barcelone, une marque de papiers peints dont le premier produit «Topo Azul» a été cité dans le New York Times, une solide carrière de directrice artistique et d illustratrice pour des clients tels que Anthropologie, Nina Ricci ou Clinique, des expositions de son travail à l international, l écriture de quatre livre de conseils artistiques (The Paintbrush Playbook, The Pencil Playbook, The Marker Playbook et The Pen & Ink Playbook), et sa dose quotidienne d expérimentations qui se transforment souvent en beaux projets. Après avoir passé une grande partie de sa vie en Europe (Logroño, Barcelone et Londres), elle décide d embarquer pour une quête spirituelle et artistique à Mexico. Aujourd hui elle répartit son temps entre Tepoztlán, charmant village dans les montagnes de Mexico, et ses expéditions à l autre bout du monde. Describing herself as a professional enthusiast, Ana Montiel is rather a Renaissance woman with many passions and interests. Her influences include utopian architecture, eastern philosophy, and antique botanical illustration, astronomy, quantum physics, the Bauhaus movement, Maya Deren s experimental films and Jung s Red Book. With an education in fine arts Logroño Arts School and a BFA Hons at Universidad de Barcelona Ana has learnt many new traits, enough to set up a design studio in Barcelona; a wallpaper brand whose first product, Topo Azul, was featured in the New York Times; a solid art direction and illustration career working on commissions for the likes of Anthropologie, Nina Ricci or Clinique; exhibitions of her work in many countries; writing four art guidebooks, The Paintbrush Playbook, The Pencil Playbook, The Marker Playbook and The Pen & Ink Playbook. After spending most of her life in Europe Logroño, Barcelona and London she decided to embark on a spiritual and artistic quest, moving to Mexico. At the moment she divides her time between Tepoztlán-a UFO-friendly village in the mountains of Mexico-and her expeditions around the world.
