3 MICROSOFT ET SALESFORCE.COM UNISSENT LEURS FORCES NTIC, 30 MAI 2014 Le partenariat porte sur l'intégration de la solution CRM cloud de Salesforce.com dans Microsoft Azure et Office et sur l'intégration de la suite bureautique Office 365 dans le CRM de l'éditeur californien. Bien que Microsoft Dynamics CRM concurrence directement Salesforce, l'accord vient répondre à une demande des clients utilisant les solutions de Microsoft et de Salesforce pour mieux fonctionner ensemble. «Ce partenariat doit permettre aux clients d'extraire plus de valeur de notre technologie. Il leur procure un accès aux services dont ils ont besoin pour être productifs, collaborer et vendre n'importe où», a indiqué Satya Nadella, le CEO de Microsoft. «Les clients qui désirent que l'on travaille ensemble voulaient ardemment ce partenariat. Ils veulent être capables de travailler avec Office 365, Excel, Outlook et toutes les apps Microsoft et aussi avec Salesforce.com et nous de travailler ensemble pour avantager nos clients», a indiqué quant à lui Marc Benioff le CEO de Salesforce. Un partenariat qui renforce les offres de Microsoft et de Salesforce.com L'accord prévoit également la disponibilité de l'app Salesforce1 pour Windows 8.1 et Windows Phone 8.1 pour permettre aux utilisateurs de terminaux Windows d'accéder à la dernière offre de Salesforce.com. Une preview est prévue dans le courant de l'année pour une disponibilité générale l'année prochaine. En outre, une version de Salesforce pour Office 365 est aussi prévue permettant aux utilisateurs d'accéder, partager et éditer des documents Office directement dans Salesforce et Salesforce1 via Office Mobile, Office ipad et Office 365. Interrogés sur les conséquences de cet accord sur Dynamics CRM qui rivalise frontalement avec l'offre CRM cloud de Salesforce, les CEO de Microsoft et de Salesforce.com ont botté en touche. Le premier en évitant de répondre à la question, le second par des propos sibyllins en faisant savoir que ce partenariat allait renforcer les offres génératrices de chiffre d'affaires, à savoir la solution CRM pour Salesforce.com et les produits Windows et Office pour Microsoft. De là à dire que Microsoft Dynamics CRM ne serait pas considéré comme une offre rapportant beaucoup à la firme de Redmond, il n'y a qu'un pas... 1

4 APPLICATIONS CONCRETES DU BIG DATA EN TOURISME NTIC, 03 JUILLET 2014 L analyse des données numériques des voyageurs permet de mieux comprendre et anticiper leurs comportements, de connaître leur profil et de leur offrir des expériences qui correspondent à leurs intérêts. Avant de se lancer dans l analyse de données à grande échelle, le Big Data, une entreprise doit avoir conscience des difficultés à relever pour atteindre des résultats pertinents. Elle doit préalablement se doter d un plan stratégique et surtout se fixer un objectif, c est-à-dire déterminer l utilisation qu elle fera de cette mer de données, pour éviter littéralement de se noyer À présent, le Big Data n est plus seulement réservé aux grandes entreprises. Les avancées technologiques ouvrent les portes à toutes celles qui sont prêtes à y consacrer beaucoup de temps. Voici quelques exemples de projets dans l industrie touristique. MESURER LES FLUX TOURISTIQUES Orange, un exploitant français de téléphonie mobile, a rendu accessible les données provenant de son réseau sous la forme d un dispositif appelé Flux Vision. Le Comité départemental du tourisme des Bouches-du-Rhône fut le premier à le tester durant l été Isabelle Brémond, directrice générale du CDT, détaille l utilisation qui a été faite de cet outil dans la revue Espace. Ce test a permis de connaître, sur une échelle de temps, les flux de déplacements sur un ou plusieurs territoires et la fréquentation touristique d un lieu ou d un événement. De plus, les données extraites distinguent les résidents des touristes, des excursionnistes et des personnes en transit (voir le schéma 1). Le profil de chaque segment est détaillé: nationalité, durée du séjour, lieu d hébergement, etc. Grâce à un partenariat avec le Réseau national des destinations départementales, cet outil est à présent proposé à tous les départements français. 2

5 Schéma 1: Population résidente et additionnelle à Marseille du 2 juin au 31 août 2012 PRÉVOIR LA FRÉQUENTATION D UN TERRITOIRE Ce système permet de suivre l évolution des réservations vers la destination, en temps réel et par marché émetteur En 2013, le Comité régional du tourisme (CRT) Côte d Azur et son observatoire ont testé le système de prévision de fréquentation Forwardkeys. Comme l explique Patrick Vece, directeur de l Observatoire, dans la revue Espace, cet outil extrait les données des vols vers l aéroport de Nice à partir des principaux GDS. Ce système permet de suivre l évolution des réservations vers la destination, en temps réel et par marché émetteur, mais aussi de comparer ces données avec celles d autres régions. En plus d estimer le nombre d arrivées de touristes sur une période donnée, il est possible de connaître les périodes de réservation et donc d appliquer les stratégies marketing au moment opportun. L objectif du CRT est d établir un baromètre de tendance des réservations aériennes sur six mois afin d informer les professionnels. En septembre 2013, l agence de développement touristique Atout France a signé un contrat avec la firme à l origine de cet outil pour rendre disponibles les prévisions de 12 aéroports du pays aux CRT. MIEUX GÉRER LA RELATION CLIENT La compagnie aérienne JetBlue travaille à mettre en place une plateforme interne, le customer hub, regroupant l information de ses clients provenant de tous les canaux. Une telle plateforme lui permettra d avoir une meilleure connaissance de chacun et d interagir avec eux de manière individuelle. Grâce à cet outil, JetBlue souhaite par exemple augmenter les revenus complémentaires générés à bord de ses avions. Pour chaque vol, la quantité de produits à vendre (nourriture, produits hors taxe, etc.) sera calculée à l avance selon les historiques d achat des passagers. Une compagnie à bas prix (low cost), a récemment développé une nouvelle application qui fournit aux membres d équipage de l information complète sur les passagers 3

6 D autres compagnies aériennes ont muni leurs agents de bord de tablettes électroniques afin qu ils puissent consulter le profil et les préférences de chaque client, comme c est le cas de Delta Air Lines, de British Airways et d Allegiant Air. Cette dernière, une compagnie à bas prix (low cost), a récemment développé une nouvelle application qui fournit aux membres d équipage de l information complète sur les passagers: assignation de sièges, demandes spéciales, préférences de repas, statuts du programme de fidélité, historique des achats à bord et informations en temps réel permettant, par exemple, de prévenir les clients des changements d horaires de leurs vols de correspondance (voir l image ci-dessous). AMÉLIORER L EXPÉRIENCE CLIENT EN LIGNE Grâce à l analyse des comportements d achat et de voyage de sa clientèle, Expedia a ajouté de nouvelles fonctionnalités à son application mobile en janvier dernier. Flight Recommendations simplifie le processus de recherche en fournissant à l internaute d autres itinéraires pouvant lui plaire. Il peut comparer ses résultats de recherche à ceux des personnes ayant sélectionné un ou deux paramètres différents. Scratchpad permet d enregistrer les résultats de recherche afin d y revenir plus tard ou de les envoyer à une adresse courriel. Itinerary Sharing offre la possibilité de partager un itinéraire par courriel, message texte, AirDrop (système de partage de fichiers sur Apple) ou Facebook. Lorsque le vol du voyageur est en retard, les personnes de son entourage utilisant l application d Expedia reçoivent une alerte. 4

7 Zaptravel, une jeune entreprise lancée en 2012, propose un moteur de recherche de voyages basé sur la sémantique. L utilisateur fournit une phrase (en anglais), telle que «J aimerais surfer sur les meilleures vagues», «Je cherche une petite ville pittoresque pour une belle escapade» ou «Je rêve de l Europe». Des résultats pertinents s affichent sur une carte du monde avec les meilleurs tarifs offerts par des agences de voyages en ligne (OTA). Pour parvenir à ce résultat, le moteur analyse des milliers de destinations et d événements, puis y agrège les vols et forfaits des OTA. PRÉVOIR LES PRIX Le métamoteur Kayak analyse les données de recherches effectuées sur ses différents sites et applications mobiles afin de fournir une prévision des prix des vols pour les sept prochains jours. Un pourcentage de confiance s affiche (voir l image ci-dessous), proportionnel à la probabilité que les tarifs augmentent ou baissent dans les jours à venir. Un avis est émis, soit «achetez» ou «attendez». 5

8 Pour conclure, afin de rendre la gestion des données numériques plus efficace, il peut être pertinent de mener des initiatives conjointes entre différents secteurs d activités. E-COMMERCE COULD CHALLENGE BRICKS AND MORTAR RETAIL IN AFRICA NTIC, 03 JUILLET 2014 E-commerce has a bright future in Africa, according to Sascha Breuss, managing director at South African online fashion retailer Zando. Speaking at Source Africa a pan-african textile and clothing trade event recently held in Cape Town Breuss said e-commerce will make up for the lack of modern bricks and mortar retailers in many African countries. 6 people. Lagos today has a population probably between 20m to 25m people and they have two malls, he said, making a comparison with Cape Town that has around 10 larger shopping malls that serve a population of under four million

9 Furthermore, traffic congestion in cities like Lagos, Cairo and Nairobi can make shopping a hassle. Breuss said he is not exaggerating by saying that it takes around four hours to travel the short distance from the airport to the city centre in Lagos. Two of the top online retailers in Nigeria are Jumia and Konga. Both companies sell a variety of products from mobile phones to fashion. According to Breuss, Jumia is currently Nigeria s biggest retailer, a status it achieved after being in the market for just two years. So e-commerce is already dominating this country. Zando and Jumia are part of Africa Internet Holding. The group also owns a number of other online properties in Africa, including real estate portal Lamudi, hotel booking site Jovago and vehicle marketplace Carmudi. Jumia has also expanded to Egypt, Morocco, Côte d Ivoire and most recently Kenya. Both Jumia and Zando want to sell more locally-made products to reduce the challenges and costs associated with importing goods into countries like Nigeria. In South Africa, Zando has introduced its own private fashion label, and only around 25% of its products are international brands. Jumia and Zando s free returns policy allows customers to try on garments in the comfort of their homes. According to Breuss, the number of returns the companies receive are relatively low. In terms of our return rate, I cannot share that number, but I can tell you that using the international benchmark if you look at our sister companies in Europe and Asia and elsewhere it is tiny significantly lower than what we expected when we came here specifically in South Africa but that applies to all African countries. The rise of e-commerce in Africa According to a report by McKinsey & Company released in November last year, e- commerce will open up a new shopping experience for Africa s growing middle class. By 2025, it could account for 10% of retail sales in the continent s largest economies, which will translate into some US$75bn in annual revenue. While McKinsey estimates that just 16% of the continent s one billion people are currently online, this number is expected to grow considerably over the next few years. Despite a slow start, Africa s digital development is now accelerating, states the report. As the continent grows more connected, it is already producing innovative webbased applications and dynamic new business models. For now, the internet in Africa remains a wide-open space where companies can capture large opportunities if they move rapidly and decisively. 7

10 McKinsey s research also indicates that more than half of urban African consumers already have internet-capable devices. Africa s smartphone penetration could reach 50% in leading countries and 30% overall in the next decade, spurred by the introduction of low cost devices. Breuss said growing smartphone penetration will play an important role in e-commerce on the continent, and leapfrog fixed-line internet infrastructure that is vastly lacking. HAS AFRICA LOST ITS PLACE AT THE HEAD OF THE MOBILE PAYMENTS INNOVATION RACE? NTIC, 03 JUILLET 2014 From the moment M-Pesa launched in Kenya in 2007, Africa was heralded as the undisputed leader in the innovation and adoption of mobile payment services. Today, more than 17m Kenyans use M-Pesa, and in 2013 a full quarter of the country s GDP passed through the service. But is Africa still leading the global MOBILE PAYMENTS innovation race? According to Howard Moodycliffe, Africa has lost some ground. The economic powerhouses of the US and China have quickly caught up. US coffee chain Starbucks launched a MOBILE PAYMENTS app in 2013 that saw more than US$1bn in transactions processed in a single year, while the total value of China s mobile transactions came to a staggering $1.6tr. Despite M-Pesa processing $10bn in mobile transfers in 2013, and MTN Mobile Money showing strong growth, we haven t seen mass adoption of other mobile transacting solutions. Africa is due some rapid and game-changing innovation in the mobile payments space, and I think we re nearing this in South Africa as the large banks and retailers start INVESTING time and money in mobile transacting. Moodycliffe is the head of marketing and international at wigroup, developers of an interoperable platform that enables retailers to accept any type of mobile transaction at the point-of-sale, through a single integration. He says that South Africa s mobile payments usage is mostly centered around MONEY transfer among the lower end of the market. In the US, we re seeing much more interest in value-added mobile payment and transaction services such as discount vouchers and coupons. In the latest MasterCard MOBILE PAYMENTS Readiness Index, only one African country Kenya at number 4 ranks among the top 20 countries in terms of readiness for MOBILE PAYMENT adoption. South Africa is just behind Egypt and Vietnam on the overall list at number 26, while Nigeria comes in at number 22. 8

11 According to Moodycliffe, this ranking is slightly misleading. South Africa may not be leading the pack but there is a swathe of hugely exciting mobile transacting applications and services being launched right now. While emerging MARKETS in Asia, as well as developed markets in Europe and North America may be ahead for now, you are likely to see some changes in the ranking over the next few years. Moodycliffe says that, despite Africa losing some of its lead in terms of pure innovation, the continent is still untouchable for its ability to localise MOBILE PAYMENT services to suit its specific population. North American and Scandinavian countries are constantly producing futuristic payment tech, such as the Nymi wristband which uses your heart rate as password, and Quixter which scans the veins in your hand. However, these technologies are impractical in the African milieu. We need solutions that take our population s unique and disparate needs into account, and here we are streets ahead of the rest of the world. The success of M-Pesa recently led Google to launch its own mobile payment solution, called BebaPay, into Kenya. BebaPay is an NFC-enabled alternative payment service that commuters can use to pay for bus fares. Asked whether the entry of the global giants into the MOBILE PAYMENTS space poses a threat to smaller African companies, Moodycliffe is optimistic. Google, Apple and Facebook s forays into payments are complementary to what we do and affirm our strategic focus on the mobile payments and transactions space. L OUGANDA ET LA TANZANIE PASSENT DEVANT LE KENYA DANS L USAGE DU MOBILE MONEY NTIC, 04 JUILLET 2014 (Agence Ecofin) - D après l Association mondiale des opérateurs télécoms (GSMA), la Tanzanie est passée devant le Kenya en matière d utilisation du service de transfert d argent par mobile. En termes d abonnement au service, 44% des adultes y sont inscrit dans le pays contre 38% au Kenya. En décembre 2013, les consommateurs tanzaniens ont généré une valeur de 99,9 millions de transactions par Mobile Money qui représente une somme de 1,8 milliard de dollars. Dans 9

12 un pays où 14% des adultes seulement utilisent les banques, c est une somme colossale, estime GSMA. Les raisons du succès du Mobile Money en Tanzanie, plusieurs acteurs nationaux du secteur l expliquent par sa pratique sur n importe quel type de téléphone. Ils pensent que le service va même générer davantage de revenus maintenant que les opérateurs ont rendu leur service interopérable, brisant les restrictions qui confinaient les transactions sur leur seul réseau. Devant la Tanzanie et le Kenya, se trouve maintenant l Ouganda, selon Bank of Ouganda. En 2013, le service a généré 18,6 millions de transactions pour une valeur de 7,2 milliards de dollars. Actuellement derrière, alors qu il était leader il y a peu, le Kenya ne semble pas trop s inquiéter de la croissance dans son segment du Mobile Money. En effet, rien n est encore joué. Avec l arrivée de trois nouveaux opérateurs de réseau mobile virtuel axé uniquement vers ce service, le secteur est appelé à exploser. LE SENEGAL LANCE L APPLICATION MRAMADAN POUR VEILLER SUR LES DIABETIQUES PENDANT LE JEUNE NTIC, 04 JUILLET 2014 (Agence Ecofin) - Le Sénégal est le premier d Afrique francophone à avoir lancé la plateforme mobile de santé baptisée mramadan. L application fait partie du programme Be He@lthy Be Mobile, initié en commun par l Organisation mondiale de la santé (Oms) et l Union internationale des télécommunications (Uit) dans le but d aider les pays à combattre les maladies non-transmissibles. 10 De manière pratique, à travers mramadan, les fidèles musulmans atteints de diabètes, reçoivent gratuitement tous les jours, des messages texte avec des recommandations pour le jeûne, avant, pendant et après le mois sacré. Ainsi, ils pourront mieux veiller à leur santé tout en accomplissant leur devoir religieux. Grâce à mramadan, les autorités sénégalaises espèrent réduire

13 significativement le nombre d'hospitalisations d'urgence de diabétiques qui grimpe généralement pendant cette période. Interrogée par Voice of America, le docteur Maïmouna Ndour Mbaye, professeur de médecine interne et diabétologie en service au Centre national du diabète Marc Sankale à Dakar, explique que les diabétiques peuvent faire face à un certain nombre de complications pendant le jeûne. «Le premier risque est l'hypoglycémie, qui peut être très nocif pour le cerveau, en particulier ( ) Il y a aussi un risque d'hyperglycémie, parce que quand ils jeûnent, leur diabète est moins contrôlé. Ils ne peuvent pas prendre leurs médicaments sur une base régulière comme ils le font sur une journée normale. Et c'est un risque qui les expose aux complications», insiste le docteur. Pour Maïmouna Ndour Mbaye, les diabétiques sont également exposées à un risque accru de déshydratation. Certains qui ont des conditions particulières telles que des problèmes rénaux chroniques ne sont généralement pas autorisés à jeûner parce que ces conditions peuvent s'aggraver. En somme, elle conseille aux diabétiques de consulter leur médecin avant de jeûner. JUMIA NIGERIA REVEALS ONLINE MARKETPLACE FOR SMES NTIC, 10 JUILLET 2014 Jumia Nigeria celebrates its 2nd year anniversary with massive growth and impact on the Nigerian economy. Over the past 2 years Jumia has been building an online platform that attempts to bridge the gap between consumers and access to products. As part of their approach towards transforming the Nigerian retail space, Jumia introduced the marketplace, which started since their inception and has grown to become a veritable model that will shape retail in Nigeria. According to the company, the Jumia marketplace offers Small and Medium scale businesses an opportunity to showcase their products online thereby reaching a larger & more targeted audience. It is not limited to businesses; it also brings on board individuals who run small businesses on the side and are looking to increase visibility. 11

14 I run a home-based business and I must say joining the Jumia marketplace has really been helpful especially with increasing my sales. Jumia has offered my business more visibility, said Kenneth Ubogu, Jumia Marketplace seller. In the next few years, Online retail with marketplace will be a major success story that will contribute largely to the Nation s GDP. 5 POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN ASSESSING A RECOVERY SITE FOR YOUR CONTACT CENTRE NTIC, 10 JUILLET 2014 Contact or Call centres have become vital sales and support hubs for many companies, which means that a recovery plan forms a vital component of their business continuity strategies. But an effective disaster recovery site for a contact centre must meet certain criteria, and it s vital not to underestimate their importance. Contact centres are complex institutions and many dimensions need to be considered when deciding on a recovery site, says Steven King, Business Development Manager, at ContinuitySA, Africa s leading supplier of business continuity management services. Based on our years of experience in providing this service to blue-chip clients across the continent, we believe that the following issues need to be considered when making a decision. 1. Does the recovery site operate on the infrastructure-as-a-service model? The contact centre recovery site needs to have the same level of technology as the production site, and it needs to be highly flexible in how it provides that infrastructure. Companies that are taking care of their own recovery site may find this a challenge, particularly as they would typically use production staff to maintain it thus spreading scarce resources even thinner. If the recovery centre is operated by a third party, it should be on infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) model. Not only does this remove the expenses from the capital to the operational expenses budget, it also effectively shifts the responsibility to the service provider. 12

15 Using IaaS also means that the infrastructure can be scaled up and down, something that can be vital during a recovery. When an organisation invokes a disruption it will typically move around one-third of their contact centre workforce onto the recovery site, and may only provide for a corresponding proportion of normal voice and data traffic. However, it is usually the case that for the first few days after a disaster there is a significant spike in calls, says King. Under an IaaS model, the provider could scale up capacity, such as the bandwidth required, for that period. 2. Is the technology at the right level? When assessing the merits of a site s technology infrastructure, the following four areas need detailed scrutiny: PBX, switches, routers and phone/ data lines. Is the PBX supported, and can it handle the call volumes? Are the routers and switches able to be configured for the desired call flow absolutely vital in a contact centre? A related question is whether the building is serviced by multiple telecommunications providers. A contact centre is only as good as its links to the outside world, and being restricted to one supplier is not acceptable, from the cost and redundancy points of view. 3. Is the building itself adequate? Here one should consider not only the question of whether the space on offer is sufficient but also security. If the contact centre is a 24/7 operation, for example, does the security accommodate shifts? Does the building have enough generators and fuel reserves, as well as uninterruptable power supply units? Is the building on key transport routes? 4. Have the seats been purchased under the right model? Seats in a recovery centre offered by a third party can be purchased either on a syndicated or dedicated basis. Syndicated seats are shared with other clients, reducing the cost considerably but are offered on a first-come-first-served basis in the event of both companies experiencing a disaster at the same time, in the same geographic location. Even when this happens, says King, if the service provider has done its capacity planning well, it should still have enough seats for both clients. 5. Can you test if your contact centre is ready for an incident or disaster? It s absolutely essential that every element of a business continuity plan can be tested, and that regular tests are undertaken contact centres are no exception. In practice, most companies find it hard to test an in-sourced recovery contact centre recovery site properly and regularly because of the impact on their current business operations. 13

16 5 POINTS TO CONSIDER WHEN ASSESSING A RECOVERY SITE FOR YOUR CONTACT CENTRE NTIC, 10 JUILLET 2014 The Samsung plant, located in Brazil, was hit hard in one of the largest tech heists to date. According to reports, more than 40,000 smartphones, tablet devices, laptops and electronic devices were stolen. According to reports, 20 criminals disguised as Samsung employees invaded the factory and took close to 200 employees hostage. The armed assailants loaded R380 Million worth of Samsung electronics into seven trucks. Some employees were held hostage by the criminals while the majority continued to work, but had the batteries of their mobile phones taken to prevent them from calling the police, ZDNet reports. According to businessinsider.com, the armed assailants carried submachine guns; however, no injuries have been reported and the criminals have been described by Samsung employees as not violent at any point. The robbers reportedly had ID cards and access cards, which essentially gave them entry into the plant. In a media statement a Samsung representative stated, We are very concerned about this incident. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. We are fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation, and we will do our best to avoid it happening again. A robbery this large will impact Samsung s ability to distribute devices to certain countries. A spokesperson from Samsung Electronics South Africa, stated that: It is regrettable that the incident took place. However, it is fortunate that there were no casualties. The authorities in Brazil are currently investigating the incident and the local Samsung subsidiary will fully cooperate with the police to resolve this issue. This incident does not have any bearing on the African market and Samsung South Africa is unable to comment or speculate on issues that could result from this case. 14

Someday, we will be healthier because our doctors will have access to all the data they need about our health. Our vehicles and appliances will monitor themselves and will let us know when it is time to service them. We will never have to make a decision without the data we need to make smart decisions. Thanks to the so-called Internet of Things, that day is coming sooner than you think. We all know there are more connected devices then people in the world today. By 2020, it is estimated there will be 50 billion connected devices globally. However, businesses and society will not benefit from connected devices if there are no systems in place to gather, analyse and gain insights from the massive volumes of data generated by these connected devices. Let s take a step back here. We spent last half of the 20th Century building what Geoffrey Moore calls Systems of Record the structured transactional data that is the core of every business. These Systems of Record capture every dimension of our lives, be it financial transactions, human resources, order processing, inventory management, customer relationship management, supply chain management, product lifecycle management or more. These Systems of Record have paved the way for enormous economic expansion over the last 50 years. With the explosion of the Internet in the last few years, Enterprise IT saw a shift towards Systems of Engagement, encompassing the edge of the business, leveraging social networks, and processing loosely structured data that is constantly changing. This shift towards Systems of Engagement resulted in more agile business processes, seizing new business opportunities at the edge of the business. These systems depend on gathering and analysing large volumes of data from various sources in real-time to generate actionable insights for fast decision-making. For instance, a clothing retailer can now offer highly personalised real-time discount offers to online shoppers after analysing their shopping behavior, social media sentiment, likes and dislikes. Today, we are witnessing another massive revolution where enterprises will need to build Systems of Things in parallel to Systems of Engagement to harness the Internet of Things. As the previously dumb devices on the edge become intelligent and get connected, Systems of Things will be needed to source, capture, analyse, predict and act on the data in real time. 15 A recent report by Morgan Stanley predicts that the Internet of Things could be an opportunity for several large industries, driving potential changes in business models and significant cost savings.
