2 Electricité Bobine et voltmètre (Vumètre) 1 Présentation La maquette proposée est constituée de deux dipôles indépendants (la bobine et le voltmètre à zéro central) montés dans un même boîtier. Ils peuvent si c est nécessaire être associés par deux cavaliers (réf : ) ou des fils de connexion. Cet ensemble permettra d illustrer la production d une tension alternative et sa nature. Dans un premier temps, l aimant sera déplacé manuellement. Par la suite, l utilisation conjointe d un moteur électrique entraînant un aimant devant la bobine (réf : ) conduira à analyser les caractéristiques de la tension produite. Composition : Une bobine de fil de cuivre émaillée de résistance 1200 Ω, Un voltmètre à zéro central de résistance interne 15 kω, Un aimant en ticonal de 5 x 8 mm, pôle sud coloré en rouge, Un barreau de fer doux de 6 x 8 mm. 2 Démarches Trois approches expérimentales sont proposées pour appréhender la nature de la tension. La première consiste à utiliser le système bobine aimant dans un circuit avec des D.E.L. Le déplacement manuel de l'aimant engendre un courant qui change de sens. De là, on infère la nature de la tension. La deuxième utilise le voltmètre connecté aux bornes de la bobine. Le déplacement de l'aiguille à droite puis à gauche du zéro indique le changement de signe des bornes de cette dernière. Donc la tension est tour à tour positive puis négative. Une fois ces observations faîtes, on pourra, dans une troisième étape, produire une tension alternative de moyenne fréquence grâce à un aimant tournant entraîné par un moteur électrique. D'autres choix et d autres utilisations sont possibles. 3 Expériences Trois fiches expérimentales sont fournies ainsi qu'un corrigé succinct. Les deux premières proposent un mode d'exécution directif, la troisième laisse la place à l'initiative de l'élève pour qu'il développe son autonomie. 3 Electricité Bobine et voltmètre (Vumètre) Mise en évidence d'une tension alternative Objectifs : vérifier que le déplacement d'un aimant devant une bobine crée une tension. Étudier la nature de cette tension. 1 Création d'un courant 1.1) Réaliser le circuit ci-contre. 1.2) Introduire le pôle sud (rouge) de l'aimant dans la bobine puis le retirer. Qu'observe-t-on? 1.3) Recopier la phrase correcte "La D.E.L émet / n émet pas un flash. Donc un courant ne circule pas / circule quand l'aimant se déplace." 2 Sens du courant 2.1) Réaliser le circuit ci-contre. Les D.E.L seront montées en dérivation et en inverse l'une par rapport à l'autre. 2.2) Déplacer l'aimant. Qu'observe-t-on? 2.3) Faire le schéma du circuit en utilisant le symbole du générateur aimant bobine fourni ci-dessous. 2.4) Porter sur le schéma avec deux couleurs différentes, le sens du courant pour un aller et retour de l'aimant dans la bobine. 2.5) Recopier la phrase correcte : "Les D.E.L s'allument simultanément /tour à tour. Donc le courant, change / ne change pas de sens au cours du temps. Les bornes du générateur n ont pas / ont une nature positive ou négative fixe. On dit qu'elles alternent." FRANÇAIS 2

4 Electricité Bobine et voltmètre (Vumètre) 3 Etude de la tension avec le voltmètre a zéro central 3.1) Relier les bornes de la bobine aux bornes du voltmètre avec des cavaliers ou des fils de connexion. 3.2) Introduire le pôle sud de I'aimant dans la bobine puis le retirer. Qu'observez-vous? 3.3) Recopier et compléter la phrase avec les mots appropriés : (sortir, pénétrer, gauche, droite, changer, augmenter, continue, alternative) "Quand le pôle sud.....dans la bobine, l'aiguille du voltmètre dévie à... Quand le pôle sud est retiré de La bobine, l'aiguille dévie à...c'est donc que le signe des bornes du générateur..... La tension est dite...". 3.4) Ordre de grandeur : La graduation 30 portée sur le cadran du voltmètre correspond a une tension 3 V. Estimer entre quelles valeurs positive et négative varie la tension produite par déplacement de l'aimant à la main. FRANÇAIS 3

5 Electricité Bobine et voltmètre (Vumètre) Caractéristiques d'une tension alternative Objectif : savoir produire une tension alternative grâce à un aimant déplacé par un moteur. Analyser les caractéristiques de la tension produite à l'oscilloscope, au fréquencemètre. 1 Production 1.1) Relier la bobine au voltmètre grâce à des cavaliers ou des fils. 1.2) Déplacer manuellement le barreau de fer doux dans la bobine. Quel constat faîtes-vous? 1.3) Fixer le barreau de fer doux dans la bobine par derrière avec une pince à linge. Approcher ou éloigner rapidement un aimant de I'extrémité du barreau. Recopier la phrase correcte : «Le barreau de fer fixe / mobile, associé à un aimant mobile / immobile crée une tension». 1.4) Utilisation d'un moteur. Réaliser le circuit (A) (voir dessin ci-contre). 1.5) Faire tourner un aimant rapidement à proximité de la barre de fer doux. Observer le phénomène. Recopier les phrases après les avoir complétées. (Irrégulier permanent, alternatif, continu, constant, briller, éteindre, près, loin) "Quand l'aimant est.....du fer doux, les deux diodes montées en inverse l'une par rapport à l'autre... d'un éclat qui parait... 6 Electricité Bobine et voltmètre (Vumètre) 2 Mesure des caractéristiques de la tension a l'oscilloscope 2.1) Oscilloscope sans balayage : effectuer le réglage de l'appareil. Amener le spot au centre de l'écran de l'oscilloscope. Approcher l'aimant tournant entraîné par le moteur prés du barreau de fer. Qu'observez-vous sur l'écran? 2.2) Tracer sur votre feuille I'axe des ordonnées, indiquer la grandeur qu'il porte. Puis dessiner la trace correspondante du spot sur I'axe. 2.3) Calculer la valeur maximale de la tension u, sachant que le gain est réglé sur 1 \r i div. 2.4) Oscilloscope avec balayage : effectuer le réglage de l'appareil. Tracer l'axe des abscisses et I'axe des ordonnées sur votre feuille. Indiquer les grandeurs qu'ils portent. 2.5) Calculer la période sachant que le balayage est réglé sur 5 ms i div. 3 Mesure directe de la fréquence 3.1) Brancher directement aux bornes Com et HZ du multimètre réglé en fréquencemètre les bornes de la bobine. Entraîner l'aimant avec le moteur. Mesurer la fréquence. 3.2) En utilisant la formule liant la fréquence f et la période T, calculer T. 3.3) Recopier la phrase correcte " Quand l'aimant s'éloigne ou se rapproche du barreau de quelques centimètres, la fréquence varie / ne varie pas sensiblement". 7 Electricité Bobine et voltmètre (Vumètre) Tension alternative Objectif : initier à la démarche scientifique et développer l'autonomie. 1 Fabrication d'une tension 1.1) En vous inspirant du livre, indiquer le matériel nécessaire pour créer une tension alternative? 1.2) Quel appareil autre qu'un oscilloscope vous permettra de vérifier que vous avez une tension alternative? 1.3) Faîtes un schéma de I'expérience que vous envisagez de faire pour mettre en évidence la tension. 1.4) Combien vous faut-il de dipôles? 1.5) Venir avec votre feuille soumettre votre idée au professeur.puis après accord, prendre le matériel. 1.6) Réaliser votre expérience et remplir la phrase suivante : (Signe, valeur, continu, alternatif, changer, ampèremètre, rester, extérieur, voltmètre, O V, 3 V, intérieur, multimètre) «Si on déplace en translation, l'aimant à... de la bobine, on constate que pendant ce déplacement, il apparaît une... variable sur l'écran du...par ailleurs, si on retire et on enfonce successivement l'aimant, le... placé devant la valeur change. II doit arriver à trouver par lui-même une partie des expériences proposées dans les fiches précédentes. Cela suppose qu'on ne les lui ait pas fait déjà effectuer. L'élève a tendance à reproduire les solutions du livre, on peut lui demander de trouver la solution la plus simple...c-a-d déplacer un aimant à la main devant une bobine. 1) 1.1) Un multimètre en très basse fréquence, réglé en voltmètre, le signe moins se mettra à apparaître et à disparaître si on est réglé en C.C. 12 Electricity Coil and voltmeter (Vu meter) 1 Presentation The proposed model consists of two independent dipoles (the coil and the zero-centre voltmeter) installed in the same box. If necessary, they can be fitted with two jumpers (part no.: ) or connecting wires. This assembly will help illustrate the production of an AC voltage and its nature. Initially, the magnet will be moved manually. Later, the use of an electric motor driving a magnet in front of the coil (part no.: ) will lead to the analysis of the characteristics of the voltage generated. Composition: One enamelled copper wire coil with a resistance of 1200 Ω One zero-centre voltmeter with an internal resistance of 15 kω One 5x8 mm ticonal magnet, South Pole coloured red One 6x8 mm soft iron rod. 2 Approach Three experimental approaches are suggested to understand the nature of the voltage. The first one consists in using the coil magnet system in a LED circuit. The manual displacement of the magnet generates a current that changes direction; it is from this that we infer the nature of the voltage. The second one uses a voltmeter connected to the terminals of the coil. The displacement of the needle to the right then to the left of the zero indicates the change in sign of the terminals of the latter. Thus, the voltage varies from positive to negative alternately. Once these observations are made, in the third stage we can generate an AC voltage of medium frequency using a rotating magnet driven by an electric motor. Other choices and uses are possible depending on the teaching methods of every teacher. 3 Experiments Three experimental sheets and a brief answer book are provided. The first two suggest a directive procedure; the third one offers the initiative to the student so that he becomes independent. To study the nature of this voltage 1 Generating a current. LED 1.1) Set-up the circuit as shown hereof. 1.2) Insert the south pole (red) of the magnet into the coil and remove it. What do you observe? 1.3) Rewrite the correct sentence "The LED emits/ does not emit a flash. Thus a current does not circulate / circulates when the magnet is displaced." 2 Direction of the current LED in reverse position LED 2 2.1) Set-up the circuit as shown hereof. The LEDs will be connected in parallel and reversed, one with respect to the other. 2.2) Displace the magnet. Centre the spot on the oscilloscope screen. Fix the rotating magnet driven by the motor near the metal rod. What do you observe on the screen? 2.2) Draw the y-axis on the paper, indicate its magnitude. Then draw the corresponding trace of the spot on the axis. 2.3) Calculate the maximum voltage Um knowing that the gain is adjusted to 1 V /div. 2.4) Oscilloscope with sweep: adjust the device. Draw the x and y-axes on the sheet. Indicate their magnitudes. 2.5) Calculate the period knowing that the sweep is set to 5 ms / div. 3 Direct measurement of the frequency Rotating Magnet 3.1) Connect the terminals of the coil directly to the Com and Hz terminals of the multimeter set as frequency meter. Drive the magnet with the motor. Measure the frequency. 3.2) Using the formula linking the frequency f and the period T, calculate T. 3.3) Rewrite the correct sentence «When the magnet is taken away from or closer to the rod by a few centimetres, the frequency varies / does not vary appreciably". He must be able to find a part of the experiments suggested in the previous sheets all by himself. This supposes that he has not already done the experiments. The students have a tendency to reproduce the solutions from the book, they can be asked to find the simplest solution that is to say, move a magnet by hand in front of a coil. 1.1) A very low frequency multimeter set as a voltmeter will be used. The minus sign will flash if it is set to DC.
