2 HAMAC Jean-Philippe Nuel JEAN-PHILIPPE NUEL FR Jean-Philippe Nuel s inspire principalement de sa propre expérience, d avoir grandi dans une famille d architectes, et son mode d expression favori est le design d hôtels. Pour chaque projet, il développe sa ligne personnelle, qui évite tant les décors étouffants que le design anonyme. Comme le ferait un metteur en scène, il anime les lieux qu il imagine: «J aime dessiner des endroits qui font rêver, miroirs de nos vies. Cela me plait que, tout en étant proches de nous, ils transcendent notre quotidien». Il transmet aussi cette démarche créative enthousiaste dans le design de mobilier: une alchimie entre la personnalité du créateur et son interlocuteur. Sa signature esthétique: simplicité, sans le moindre artifice. Per ogni progetto, sviluppa la sua linea personale, che evita insieme i decori soffocanti ed il design anonimo. Come uno scenografo, anima i luoghi che immagina: amo disegnare posti da sognare e in cui vivere, specchi delle nostre vite, dei nostri desideri; allo stesso tempo a noi vicini, ma anche che trascendono la nostra quotidianità. Questa posizione creativa si traduce anche nel suo design di arredi: un alchimia tra la personalità del creatore e il suo interlocutore. Una cifra estetica che si rivela in tutti i suoi lavori: semplicità, scevra da ogni artifizio. EN Jean-Philippe Nuel finds his main inspiration in his own story, from his upbringing in a family of architects, and his main creative outlet in the design of hotels. For each project, he develops his personal line, which avoids both stifling and ostentatious decoration and anonymous, uninspiring design. As a stage director would, he animates the places he imagines: I like to design places to live and dream in, mirrors of our lives. I like it when they are close to us, but also when they transcend our everyday life. This enthusiastic and creative stance, also translates into his furniture design: a perfect alchemy between the creator s personality and his interlocutor. Jean-Philippe Nuel s own signature is thus unveiled in his entire opus: simplicity, deprived of any artifice. 1. HAMAC FR La collection Hamac, conçue par Studio Nuel, s inscrit tel un manifeste du savoir-faire de Saintluc. En effet, séduit par l opportunité de contribuer à l avènement de la fibre de lin dans le domaine de l ameublement, ils ont mis la matière au centre du processus de conception, avec l idée de valoriser l essence du composite : le lin sous forme de tissu. Pour ce faire, la coque est conçue sur la base d un drapé qu on aurait jeté sur un piétement bois, le mouvement fluide pétrifié par la résine. La volupté du tissu visible dans la résine, comme si le temps avait suspendu leur élan. En contrepartie, une structure bois épurée accueille la coque et dialogue avec ses courbes. Par l évocation de l étoffe, l objet abandonne son état inerte, et montre une alliance de résistance, de force et d élégance à l image de sa matière première, le lin. IT La collezione Hamac, disegnata dallo studio Nuel, è quasi un manifesto del savoir-faire di Saintluc.Infatti, sedotti dal opportunità di contribuire all inserimento della fibra di lino nel mondo del mobile, allo studio Nuel hanno messo il materiale al centro del processo di ideazione, l ;essenza del composit: il lino come tessuto. Per fare questo, la scocca è concepita come un drappeggio, adagiato su una struttura il legno, il movimento fluido quasi pietrificato dalla resina. La morbidezza del tessuto rimane sotto la resina, come se il tempo avesse sospeso il suo moto: dall altra parte, una pura struttura in legno accoglie la scocca e dialoga con le sue curve. Evocando il tessuto, l oggetto abbandona il suo stato inerte, mostrando un insieme di resistenza, forza ed eleganza. L immagine della materia prima, il lino. EN The collection Hamac, designed by the Nuel studio, is almost a manifesto of Saintluc s savoir-faire. Actually, seduced by the chance of helping the introduction of the linen fibre in the furniture world, at Nuel s studio the material has been placed right at the heart of the concept, with the idea of enhancing the essence of the composit: the linen as a fabric. To reach that, the shell is conceived as a draping, just nestling on a wooden frame, its movement petrified by the resin. The voluptuousness of the cloth is still visible under the resin, as if time had suspended its motion. On the other hand, a pure wood frame welcomes the shell and interacts with its curves.
