INTRODUCTION During the Dissemination Working Group (DWG) it was agreed that Eurostat would coordinate the exchange of commonly agreed indicators about the usage of the web sites of the Member States. The goal of this exchange is to supply information which enables the Member States and Eurostat to compare the usage of their respective sites and to learn from each other by exchanging best practices in this field. The results of this exchange will be presented at the DWG. Furthermore, all information exchanged will be uploaded into CIRCA by Eurostat. It can be consulted by following the link ksgroup/cooperation_ /monitoring_indicators&vm=detailed&sb=title. However, a Member State may opt for confidential treatment of their data. If a Member State does not apply the standard definition for a given indicator, the information can still be provided but the calculation method of the indicator has to be explained in the remarks and observations area. Indicators that cannot be supplied should be marked as N/A. 3 4. STANDARD DEFINITIONS - Number of visits: Definition of visit : all the actions that a visitor to a web site performs, from the first hit to the last hit. A visit is considered to have ended when the visitor has not performed any actions within a time interval of 30 minutes. Multiple visits per visitor have to be counted. - Number of Page Views: Definition of Page View : A request successfully served (http code 200) by the web server to view a page. Supporting graphics and other individual items that make up a page are not counted. Typically, only requests for html, htm, cgi or asp files are counted. - Number of publications consulted/downloaded: Definition of publication consulted/downloaded : A successful (http code 200) consultation/download of a publication in pdf, doc, xls, rtf or zip format. - 3 / 7 -
