2 L ESPRIT DU LUXE FRANÇAIS Collectif & Prospectif Le Comité Colbert est né en 1954 du désir d un groupe de 15 entrepreneurs de participer à la reconstruction de la France en transformant l art de vivre français, sa créativité, ses savoirfaire en une force économique et de rayonnement. Pour fêter ses 60 ans, les 78 membres et 14 institutions culturelles aujourd hui associées au sein du Comité Colbert ont souhaité s inscrire dans cette démarche visionnaire. Les membres du Comité Colbert rêvent l avenir dans 60 ans et insufflent aujourd hui une vision optimiste pour que demain le rêve devienne réalité. THE SPIRIT OF FRENCHLUXURY Collective & Prospective The Comité Colbert was started in 1954 by a group of fifteen entrepreneurs seeking to help rebuild France by parlaying her art de vivre, creativity and craftsmanship into economic strength and influence in the world. In honor of the 60th anniversary of the Comité Colbert, its 78 members and 14 associate members (cultural associations) are perpetuating this visionary approach. Une invitation à modeler un avenir optimiste. All over the world, Colbert luxury houses are inspiring dreams. For the 60th anniversary of their association, they will collectively publish a digital work of literature and music. Alain Rey THE INDUSTRY OF RÊVER-VRAI RÊVER 2074 Les maisons du Comité Colbert ont ensemble dessiné les contours d une utopie collective et l ont partagée avec six auteurs réputés de science-fiction et un compositeur. Samantha Bailly, Jean-Claude Dunyach, Anne Fakhouri, Xavier Mauméjean, Olivier Paquet et Joëlle Wintrebert se sont plongés dans l utopie du luxe français, l ont enrichie de leur imaginaire et ont donné naissance à six nouvelles inédites. La composition musicale de Roque Rivas, développée en collaboration avec l IRCAM-Centre Pompidou a retranscrit par le son les émotions de cette utopie. Pour dire le luxe dans 60 ans, le linguiste Alain Rey a de son côté imaginé les nouveaux mots du luxe de Noventique, imagique ou rêver-vrai deviendront des classiques enrichissant en français toutes les langues étrangères. L ensemble des contributions de ces 100 auteurs constitue une œuvre collective, un rêve offert par le Comité Colbert au public afin de propager son optimisme dans la société. Exclusivement numérique, l ouvrage est disponible gratuitement en français et en anglais à partir du 3 novembre sur toutes les grandes plateformes de téléchargement et le site internet du Comité Colbert. DREAMING 2074 The members of the Comité Colbert have sketched out together the contours of a collective utopia and entrusted it to six French well-known science fiction writers and one composer. Samantha Bailly, Jean-Claude Dunyach, Anne Fakhouri, Xavier Mauméjean, Olivier Paquet and Joëlle Wintrebert have followed the collective process at the Comité Colbert and enriched the utopia with their imagination and written six new short stories. In collaboration with IRCAM- Centre Pompidou, Roque Rivas has developed a musical composition that communicates the emotions suggested by this utopia through sound. The French linguist Alain Rey has even coined a new luxury vocabulary for In sixty years, these terms e.g. noventique, imagique and rêver-vrai may well be classics that will have migrated to other languages! Input from about a hundred creative minds went into this collective work. Today, the Comité Colbert is pleased to present its dream and share its optimism with the public at large. Starting on November 3, this free digitalonly work may be downloaded in English and in French from the main ebookplatforms or the Comité Colbert website. 5

D avril à septembre 2013, chaque maison a imaginé son propre rêve pour 2074 et l a ensuite partagé avec l ensemble des membres. De cette première phase a émergé une matière riche et diverse à l image des 12 métiers représentés au sein du Comité Colbert et des identités fortes et distinctes des 78 maisons et 14 institutions qui le composent. L ensemble des propositions a constitué la base d ateliers de travail dans les instances du Comité Colbert afin de faire émerger une utopie collective, finalement adoptée lors d une Assemblée générale en novembre THE UTOPIA FACTORY The Comité Colbert relied on its trademark collaborative method during the first stage of the Dreaming 2074 project: The Utopia Factory. From April to September 2013, each member worked on its own dream for The output was as rich and varied as the 12 sectors of luxury represented within the organization and reflected the strong, distinctive identities of its 78 members (luxury houses) and 14 associate members (cultural institutions). At workshops, the governing bodies and Commissions of the Comité Colbert used this "raw material" to develop a utopia that, in November 2013, was submitted to and approved by its General Assembly. 7

This is what enables each house to remain in step with the tastes of the day while preserving the various components of its individual style. Based on the premise that creation is crucial, Dreaming 2074 weds luxury and science-fiction to explore new imaginary worlds.

Le Comité Colbert a ainsi souhaité mettre en ligne Rêver 2074 depuis le Château de Versailles, emblème du rayonnement de la France dans le monde depuis le XVII e siècle et membre associé du Comité Colbert. C est aussi un hommage à Jean-Baptiste Colbert dont le Comité créé en 1954 à l initiative de Jean-Jacques Guerlain a choisi de porter le nom. Ministre de Louis XIV, Jean-Baptiste Colbert développa une vision durable de l économie et de la culture en créant manufactures et institutions toujours vivantes au XXI e siècle. FRENCH LUXURY IS AUTHENTIC Rooted deep in the national craft heritage, French luxury is the ambassador of national style, not to mention its perpetual reinventor. That s why the Comité Colbert decided to e-launch Dreaming 2074 from the Chateau of Versailles, the symbol of France s influence in the world since the 17th century and an associate member of the Comité Colbert. At the same time, the launch will also pay tribute to Jean-Baptiste Colbert, minister under Louis XIV. When Jean-Jacques Guerlain took the initiative to start the Comité Colbert in 1954, he recommended naming it from the minister, whose long-sighted vision for France s economy and culture has endured. Many of the manufactures and institutions that he set up are still alive and well in the 21st century.

Depuis 2006, 32 artisans ont été distingués par le ministère de la Culture et de la Communication au titre de Maître d Art ou dans l ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Le 3 novembre, Mains demain honore 8 artisans nouvellement distingués pour leur savoir-faire d exception. En présence de l ensemble des présidents du Comité Colbert, Jeffrey Brett Leatham, directeur artistique - styliste floral du George V ; Christophe Michalak, chef pâtissier de l Hôtel Plaza Athénée ; Josefa Maria Pedralva Signes, modéliste chez Jeanne Lanvin ; Eric Leroux ; maroquinier-malletier chez Louis Vuitton ; Colette Petremant, chef pâtissierconfiseur, directrice d exploitation de la Manufacture Macarons et Chocolats Pierre Hermé Paris ; Pierrette Trichet, maître de Chais chez Cognac Rémy Martin ; Xavier Zimmermann, maître verrier au chalumeau chez Saint-Louis et Vincent Garnichey responsable atelier maroquinerie chez S.T.Dupont, reçoivent les insignes des Arts et des Lettres. INNOVATION AND KNOW-HOW: HANDS FOR TOMORROW The Comité Colbert is laying the groundwork for While its members are training the artisans of the future, the association works to gain recognition for the master craftsmen at Colbert companies, which perpetuate traditional crafts and the French taste for excellence. Since 2006, the French Ministry of Culture and Communication has presented 32 artisans with the honorary title of Maître d Art or insignia of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. On November 3, a special event (Hands for tomorrow) will honor 8 artisans newly recognized as masters of their craft.
