Methodology An exposition range is defined (Material Factor - MF): Proportional to the hazards of transported product (UN code) Amount of product transported, type of container, transport specifications Itinerary Calculation FRC (functional road class) hierarchy & shortest distance model used by default Possibility to force passage through intermediary points (address or map selection)
Methodology Calculation of itinerary intersection with : City : Tele Atlas polygons with uniform population density (polygons containing 90% of population) Rivers and ecological zones : predefined distance f(product) For each city impacted on the itinerary, system will calculate : Total number of persons potentially exposed (buffer around route) Maximum exposure for a single accident (circle with MF radius)
Methodology Accident probability calculation : Generic probability by type of road, for the rail and the inland waterway Loss of containment probability Reliability of the transporters Number of shipments by year Corrective factors taking into account the number of tunnels, bridges, marshalling yards present in the itinerary
