Tapisseries anciennes, modernes et contemporaines dans des collections riches et variées. Sans oublier les artisans lissiers qui œuvrent avec passion à la préservation de ce savoir-faire inscrit au patrimoine immatériel de l UNESCO. Aubusson est une ville à découvrir par son histoire et son patrimoine architectural. En flânant sur les hauteurs, on comprend pourquoi elle a inspiré des générations d artistes.

4 Le Musée de la Tapisserie 16, avenue des Lissiers - Face à la Gare routière La Cité internationale de la tapisserie et de l art tissé a été lancée en 2010 en résonance avec l inscription par l UNESCO des savoir-faire de la tapisserie d Aubusson au Patrimoine culturel immatériel de l humanité. Pour accueillir un musée étendu et ses différentes fonctions, elle s installera dans le bâtiment de l ancienne École Nationale d Art Décoratif d Aubusson, réhabilité à cet effet. Début des travaux : été Ouverture : À voir en 2015 : «Aubusson XVI-XXI» «Aubusson XVI-XXI», préfiguration au Musée de la tapisserie du parcours permanent de la future Cité, offre un panorama de cinq siècles de production en Aubusson. Découvrez les savoir-faire de la tapisserie et la diversité de la production : verdures du XVIe siècle, épopées mythologiques du XVIIe siècle, tapis du XIXe siècle et oeuvres de grands maîtres du XXe siècle, des peintres cartonniers (Lurçat, Dom Robert, ) aux tapisseries de peintres (Braque, Vasarely, ). Le renouveau contemporain est aussi présenté, avec les oeuvres primées lors des appels à création annuels de la Cité de la tapisserie. The building that was the former National School of Decorative Arts has been completely renovated in order to house a large museum. In 2015 zal het museum verhuizen naar het voormalige gebouw van de nationale school voor decoratieve kunsten in Aubusson zodat een grotere collectie kan worden getoond aan het publiek. Inversée et agrandie à l échelle de la tapisserie, cette oeuvre servira de modèle au lissier. C est le «Carton de Tapisserie», qui peut être une huile sur toile, une gouache sur papier, un calque, un dessin numéroté ou encore un agrandissement photographique. Gespiegeld en vergroot tot de uiteindelijke grootte van het te knopen tapijt, dient dit ontwerp als model voor de wever. Dit is wat men noemt het «carton» van het wandtapijt. Dit kan gemaakt zijn met olieverf op doek, een gouache op papier, een krijttekening, een genummerde tekening of een vergroting van een foto.
