1 Module One 1. Bingo de la nourriture (Section One, Day Two) Find a partner or play individually. Pick nine pictures and place one in each square of your Bingo card. Place all of the words in a container. Pick a word from the container, read it. If you have the matching picture on your card, mark it with a penny. If you don t have the picture, do nothing and pick another card. If you are playing with a partner, the first person to match all their squares wins. If you are playing individually count how many words it took to match up your squares and try to beat your score next time you play. Play as often as you would like. 2. Classifions les aliments! (Section One, Day Three) Place the four heading cards in three columns on the floor: Produits céréaliers, Produits laitiers, Viandes et subsituts and Légumes et fruits. Shuffle the picture cards and place them face down in a pile Draw one card at a time and place it under the correct heading As you place the card, say the name of the item out loud in French. For example: If you draw the card with a picture of bananas, you would put it under the heading Légumes et fruits and say les bananes. Use the glossary to help you name the items correctly. Once you have placed all the cards, reshuffle and play again. 3. Le bonhomme pendu (Hangman) (Section One, Day Seven; Section Two, Day Five; Section Two, Day Nine) Player One secretly chooses a sentence. Example: Le patinage est difficile. Player One draws one line for each letter adding a space between each word. Example:. Player Two now chooses one letter at a time using correct French pronunciation. Pg 1

2 If Player Two chooses a correct letter, Player One places it on the correct line. If the letter appears more than once in the word, it is written in every place it occurs. For example if Player Two chooses e, Player One writes it four times. Example: _ e _ e e e. If Player Two chooses a letter that is not present, Player One places a mark on the page and Player Two chooses another letter. Lives: Player Two has eight lives. If he/she gets eight marks, Player Two loses. As the Player Two calls out letters, Player One writes them down to keep track of what has been asked. Letters picked: H B R E Player Two may guess the sentence at anytime. If the guess is correct, Player Two wins. If the guess is incorrect, Player One places a mark and play continues. When Player Two has eight marks or has guessed the word, the roles change and a new game begins. 4. Les roues de la fortune (Wheel of Fortune) (Section One, Day Eight) Spin the fruit and vegetable Spinner. On a piece of paper, write the noun where the arrow stops. Note whether the noun is singular or plural and masculine or feminine. Next, spin the adjective Spinner. Write a sentence using the correct adjective with the noun. Remember to use EST if the noun is singular and SONT if the noun is plural. Use the following examples as a model: La tomate est délicieuse. Les raisins sont verts. Check your answers below. The oldest person turns over two cards. If the word and the picture are a match the player keeps the pair. If they are not a match the player turns them over again. The second person turns over two cards and play continues until all the pairs are matched. The winner is the one with the most pairs. Pg 3

4 Individually: Mix up the cards. Place them face down on a table. Turn over two cards. If the word and the picture are a match keep the pair. If they are not a match turn them over again. Pick again and keep track of how many times it takes you to find all the pairs. Try again and beat your score. Remember as you play to name each picture or word you turn over using the model below. Model: C est le badminton. C est le volleyball. 6. Va à la pêche (Go Fish) (Section Two, Day Five and Section Three, Day Two) Pick a partner to play with. This could be a classmate or a family member. Mix up your playing cards. If you are playing with more than one person mix their decks of cards with yours. Pass five cards out to each player and place the rest in the center. Match up pairs of cards that you have in your hand before beginning. Place them face down in front of you. The player with the most cards starts. In the event of a tie, the shortest player will start. The first player asks his/her partner if he/she has a certain card. Examples: Est-ce que tu aimes le basketball? Est-ce que tu es triste? If the player asked has the card, he/she says Oui, j aime le basketball. or Oui, je suis triste. and gives the requested card. If the player doesn t have the card he/she says Non, va à la pêche! and the player asking must pick up a card from the center pile. Now the second player asks for a card. Play continues until all the cards are matched or until one player no longer has any cards. The player with the most pairs wins. Play again! Pg 4

Shuffle the picture cards and place them face down in a pile. Draw one card at a time and place it under the correct heading. As you place the card, create a sentence using the place and the sport or activity. For example: If you drew the card with a picture of the boy on a skateboard, you would put it under the heading le parc and say Au parc, je fais de la planche à roulettes. If you drew the card with a picture of the basketball player, you would put it under the heading le gymnase and say Au gymnase, je joue au basketball. Use the glossary to help you name the items correctly. Once you have placed all the cards, reshuffle and play again. 8. Les catégories (Categories) Sport Clothing (Section Two, Day Eight) Place all the sport names in a pile, face down. Pick a card. Name the sport in French. Next pick all the equipment needed to play this sport. Name the pieces of equipment in French as you pick them. Use the glossary to help you name the items correctly. Pick another sport name and continue. Play until you are able to name the equipment easily. Pg 5
