Une performance significative, alors que près de la moitié des aéroports européens a subi une baisse d activité. Cette croissance ne doit rien au hasard. Confrontée à un contexte économique peu porteur et à une concurrence exacerbée, notre société aéroportuaire recueille aujourd hui les fruits de sa politique à la fois pragmatique et audacieuse. Une stratégie tournée vers l innovation, que ce soit en termes de services aux passagers ou de développement durable, mais aussi une stratégie ouvrant de nouveaux horizons, à l instar du lancement de la ligne Lyon-Dubaï par Emirates, de la progression des compagnies low cost ou de la relance très prometteuse du trafic lié aux sports d hiver. La conjonction de tous ces éléments, associée à l implication quotidienne des collaborateurs de la plateforme, au soutien actif de nos actionnaires et à une gestion rigoureuse, permet d aborder l avenir avec une sérénité teintée d ambition. Grâce à des résultats financiers probants, en constante augmentation, Aéroports de Lyon va ainsi se doter d une nouvelle infrastructure en phase avec son potentiel de croissance. In 2013, Aéroports de Lyon recorded a 1.3% increase in passenger traffic. That is an impressive performance especially while more than half of Europe s airports saw their passenger traffic fall over the same period. This increase is no coincidence. With a less than buoyant economic situation and faced with tougher competition, Aéroports de Lyon is currently reaping the benefits of its business strategy, which is both pragmatic and audacious. It focuses on innovation both in terms of passenger services and sustainable development. But, it also looks to exploring new horizons, like Emirates Lyon-Dubai route, developing the low-cost sector, and revitalizing the very promising winter sports tourism segment. All of this combined with the daily commitment of our entire staff, the active support of our shareholders, and the meticulous management of the plateform mean that we can look to the future confidently and with ambition. Aéroports de Lyon s convincing - and consistently increasing - financial results have cleared the way for expansion into a new terminal that is very much in sync with our growth potential. The new Terminal T1, for which the financing was secured and the architectural project was presented in 2013, is the largest construction project the airport has ever undertaken. It is set to serve 9 million passengers. This is truly an investment worthy of an airport that will, with time, become the second largest port of entry to France. 4 Le message du Président du directoire Message from the CEO LYON-SAINT EXUPÉRY A FRANCHI EN 2013 LE CAP DES 8,5 MILLIONS DE PASSAGERS (+1,3%). COMMENT EXPLIQUEZ- VOUS CETTE PERFORMANCE DANS UN CONTEXTE ÉCONOMIQUE DIFFICILE? La santé du transport aérien est très liée à la conjoncture économique. La conjonction de ces deux facteurs a permis à Lyon-Saint Exupéry de franchir le cap historique des 8,5 millions de passagers en 2013, soit une progression de 30% en sept ans. Une croissance maîtrisée et régulière, à la différence d autres aéroports. Enfin, l autre motif de satisfaction provient de l activité fret, dopée par l arrivée d Emirates, qui a progressé de 26% avec plus de tonnes avionnées. QUELS SONT VOS PRINCIPAUX LEVIERS DE CROISSANCE À MOYEN TERME? Ils sont nombreux, justifiés par plusieurs signaux extrêmement positifs. En premier lieu, le trafic low cost, voué à poursuivre sa croissance. Les commandes d avions sont reparties à la hausse et, compte tenu de notre marge de progression, on peut imaginer que les compagnies à bas coûts représenteront plus du tiers du trafic d ici à cinq ans. Par ailleurs, le succès de la ligne Lyon-Dubaï, lancée fin 2012, est aussi très encourageant. Le taux de remplissage ne cesse de s améliorer, ce qui a incité les dirigeants d Emirates à changer d appareil pour augmenter la capacité et le confort des passagers. Cette réussite commerciale ouvre la voie à d autres liaisons long-courrier, en particulier vers l Amérique du Nord et l Asie, stratégie ambitieuse associée à une densification de notre réseau moyencourrier. Nous souhaitons également conforter notre statut de porte naturelle des Alpes françaises, le trafic ski ayant été multiplié par quatre sur la saison 2013/2014. Enfin, le dynamisme économique de Rhône-Alpes, région à la balance commerciale positive, demeure évidemment un atout majeur aussi bien pour le développement du fret que du trafic passagers. QUELS SONT LES DÉFIS QUE VOUS DEVREZ RELEVER POUR EXPLOITER TOUT VOTRE POTENTIEL DE DÉVELOPPEMENT? Nous devons encore renforcer notre partenariat avec la Région. C est un deal gagnant-gagnant. L ANNÉE 2013 AURA ÉTÉ MARQUÉE PAR LE LANCEMENT DE GRANDS PROJETS D INFRASTRUCTURES À L INSTAR DU FUTUR TERMINAL 1. DANS UN CONTEXTE ÉCONOMIQUE DIFFICILE, EST-CE LE MEILLEUR MOMENT POUR INVESTIR? C est une stratégie managériale responsable et réfléchie compte tenu du caractère cyclique de notre activité. Il faut cinq ans entre le lancement d un projet et sa réalisation. C est en anticipant les besoins de 2018 que l on saisira les futures opportunités de croissance, sachant que l on prévoit un doublement du trafic aérien en Europe à l horizon Cette politique d investissement ambitieuse est d autant plus possible que les aéroports de Lyon ont consenti, ces dernières années, d énormes efforts de désendettement. Durant cette période, nous avons fait la preuve de la pertinence de notre business model, ce qui a incité de grandes banques dont la BEI (Banque Européenne d Investissement) à nous accompagner dans ce projet avec des taux très attractifs. Nous sommes confiants en notre potentiel tout en restant lucide sur nos capacités. How do you explain that performance despite the difficult economic context? The health of the air traffic sector is closely linked to the health of the economy as a whole. This explains why nearly half of airports in Europe saw a decrease in traffic in Under these circumstances, our 1.3% increase is modest, but it demonstrates Aéroports de Lyon s ability to hold its own. This result was achieved thanks to several growth drivers. On the one hand, there is international traffic, which is up by 2.6% and accounts for 63% of passenger traffic. On the other, there is the low-cost sector, which now holds 24% of the market. These two elements together enabled Lyon-Saint Exupéry to surpass for the historic 8.5 million passengers mark in 2013 for the first time. That represents a 30% increase in seven years. We have experienced sustained and consistent growth, which sets us apart from other airports. Then, there is the major contribution of cargo, boosted by the arrival of Emirates: a 26% increase and more than 42,000 tons transported. What are your main vectors of growth for the medium term? There are many and they are all justified by several very positive signals. First, the low-cost sector is set to continue its growth. Aircraft orders are up again and considering our capacity for growth, low-cost airlines could conceivably account for more than a third of traffic within five years. Moreover, the success of the Lyon-Dubai, which began at the end of 2012, is also very promising. The seat load factor is continually improving such that Emirates decided to change aircraft to increase capacity and comfort for passengers. This commercial success opens the door to other long-haul flights, specifically to North America and Asia, which is an ambitious strategy that will be coupled with boosted density of our medium-haul network. We would also like to bolster our status as the natural gateway to the French Alps: ski traffic increased four-fold during the season. Finally, the economic strength of the Rhône-Alpes region, with its positive balance of trade, obviously remains a major asset in developing cargo and passenger traffic. Aéroports de Lyon has many assets supporting its development: available real estate, excellent interconnectivity, and a very dynamic region. What are the main challenges that you will have to overcome in order to capitalize on your full development potential? We still need to strengthen our partnership with the Rhône- Alpes region. It s a win-win situation. The airport is a major economic force. It creates jobs and generates wealth, reinvests the bulk of its profits. By doing so, it contributes to the reputation and attractiveness of the Rhône-Alpes region. In exchange, the various local communities and the corporate world should support our efforts to become the second largest port of entry to France. Strength in numbers The other major challenge consists in making Lyon-Saint Exupéry a veritable platform for exchange, by capitalizing on its multimodal approach, its logistics and tertiary park, its potential for opening up routes and optimizing connections. All of that is combined with a strong policy in favor of the environment; sustainable development remains a constant concern for the airport was a year marked by initiating major infrastructure work, including the New Terminal 1. LOW-COST AIRLINES: STRENGHTHENED SERVICE OFFERING Low-Cost airlines have been consistently increasing service offered at Lyon-Saint Exupéry (24% of total traffic in 2013 compared to 22% in 2012). Set on 150 hectares at the heart of the 2 nd most important economic region in France, the multimodal platform offers quick connections with the main cargo hubs in Europe and the Middle East. This number has been steadily increasing since As the network expands so to do the number of travelers who use it: Rhônexpress, airport shuttles, TGV and ski shuttles more and more passengers are becoming converts. 385,000 passengers (+7.6% compared to 2012) used the shuttles that run between the airport and the 7 main cities of the region and to the surrounding ski slopes in the Alps. 1,170,000 passengers (+5% compared to 2012) boarded the Rhônexpress tram service between Lyon city center and the airport (in less than 30 minutes). 620,000 passengers (+8.1% increase compared to 2012) travelled by TGV high-speed train to one of the 24 cities that are served by the Lyon- Saint Exupéry TGV station. ADLMS has been an accredited Training Provider, offering training in various airport professions including but not limited to air-bridge driving, operating a vehicle on the airport movement area, improved customer service. Les moyens de nos ambitions Nouvelle étape majeure dans son développement, Aéroports de Lyon a présenté officiellement en 2013 son projet de futur Terminal 1. A terme, le plus grand chantier de l histoire de la plateforme permettra de doubler sa surface d accueil. Un équipement high-tech destiné à accompagner la progression du trafic et accueillir 15 millions de voyageurs à l horizon Ce souci d optimiser le service à la clientèle s est également traduit par le lancement des travaux de l espace Welcome. PIONEERING SYNERGY Lyon Saint Exupéry is one one of the few airports in Europe that has established a Welcome area of this type. It is shared by tourist industry professionals and is designed to serve customers. This is the result of the exemplary partnership of Rhône-Alpes Tourisme, ONLYLYON Tourisme et Congrès, Public Transportation Association of Lyon-Saint Exupéry and Rhônexpress. 14 INFRASTRUCTURES Infrastructure for growth Objectif de capacité : m 2 de surfaces supplémentaires 70,000 m 2 of new surface area 26 Futur Terminal 1 À la conquête de l espace Bien déterminé à contribuer au rayonnement international de Lyon et de sa région en devenant la 2 ème porte d entrée aéroportuaire en France. Lyon-Saint Exupéry poursuit le développement de ses infrastructures avec la construction d un nouveau terminal vaste et accueillant. Ce projet d envergure, d une surface de m², doublera la superficie des terminaux actuels. Il est dimensionné pour absorber la croissance prévisible du trafic et améliorer la qualité de service en proposant les meilleurs standards internationaux à nos clients. Le futur Terminal 1 permettra également de développer la part des revenus extraaéronautiques grâce à la création d une vaste zone commerciale. LES MOYENS Pour mener à bien le chantier le plus important depuis la création de la plate-forme aéroportuaire en 1975, Aéroports de Lyon mène depuis plusieurs années une politique financière rigoureuse qui lui permet aujourd hui de réaliser de nouveaux investissements qui bénéficient du soutien de la Banque Européenne d Investissement et des banques régionales. Au total 180 millions d euros seront investis en deux phases : la première de 2014 à 2016 (133 millions d ) et la seconde de 2016 à 2018 (47 millions d ). LE PROJET Le projet comprend essentiellement la réalisation du bâtiment principal et des aménagements extérieurs, dont la création a été confiée à l architecte Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners et au groupement mené par GFC Construction. De forme circulaire, le futur Terminal 1 sera parfaitement intégré à l architecture du site dont il respectera l identité forte et unique. Conçu pour satisfaire aux nouvelles attentes des passagers, en laissant une large place aux espaces de commerces et aux services pour faire de l aéroport un véritable lieu de vie, le futur Terminal 1 livrera des espaces généreux, des équipements adaptés et innovants au service du passager. New Terminal 1: Conquering New Space Determined to contribute to the international excellence of Lyon and its surrounding region by becoming the second largest gateway to France, Lyon-Saint Exupéry is continuing to develop its infrastructure, with the construction of a vast and welcoming new terminal. This major development project covering 70,000m², will effectively double the current size of the terminal. The new terminal s dimensions were set to accommodate expected traffic growth and improve the quality of service by providing state-of-the art international standards to our customers. New Terminal 1 will also boost non-aviation revenue thanks to a large commercial area. FINANCING In order to finance the largest construction project since the airport platform was built in 1975, Aéroports de Lyon implemented over the course of the last few years a rigorous financial policy that means that today it can make new investments, which have received the support of the European Investment Bank and regional banks. A total of 180 million euros will be invested in two phases: the first from 2014 to 2016 ( 133 million) and the second from 2016 to 2018 ( 47 million). UN MODÈLE QUI FAIT RÉFÉRENCE La communauté de ses membres ne cesse de s étoffer et le principe fait des émules. Ce label plébiscité par les passagers a déjà séduit plusieurs plates-formes aéroportuaires, à l image de Munich, Paris-Orly, Toulouse et plus récemment Paris-Charles de Gaulle et Rome-Ciampino. Sigma 2016 : cap sur une performance opérationnelle optimale Soucieux de répondre aux exigences nouvelles de ses passagers et de ses partenaires, Aéroports de Lyon repense en profondeur son organisation opérationnelle. Le projet d entreprise SIGMA 2016, en redéfinissant les exigences et en conjuguant les compétences en gestion des opérations aéroportuaires, entend relever plusieurs défis : améliorer la ponctualité des vols, fluidifier le parcours du passager et anticiper l ouverture du futur Terminal 1. Aéroports de Lyon prévoit ainsi la création d un poste centralisé de commandement et de décision des opérations et fait évoluer son organisation «temps réel». L ensemble s appuiera sur un nouveau Système d Information (SI) qui permettra notamment aux équipes de visualiser les principaux indicateurs opérationnels. LE SLA, A GENTLEMAN AGREEMENT Aéroports de Lyon et 11 compagnies aériennes régulières, signataires d un Service Level Agreement, s engagent à améliorer la performance opérationnelle ainsi que la qualité de service aux passagers. Un partenariat concrétisé par un dialogue personnalisé et par l accompagnement des compagnies à travers un suivi régulier de leurs performances sur la plateforme. Sigma 2016: Focus on Optimal Operational Performance Constantly eager to meet the changing requirements of our passengers and partners, Aéroport de Lyon is currently overhauling its operational structure. The SIGMA 2016 business plan redefines the service standards and combines them with airport management and operations skills, it aims to achieve the following: improve flight timeliness, facilitate passenger transit, anticipate the opening of the new Terminal 1. SERVICE LEVEL AGREEMENT, A GENTLEMEN S AGREEMENT Aéroport de Lyon plans to create a new command and decision-making center and to revamp its real-time organization. All of this will be supported by a new IT system that will enable the teams to visualize the main operational indicators. Aéroports de Lyon and 11 airlines that offer service to the airport on a regular basis signed a Service Level Agreement, with all twelve parties undertaking to improve operational performance and passenger services.
