Combining trail running and Savoi traditions Ls Contamins is on of th last-rmaining traditional villags in th Mont Blanc Rang, a prfct blnd of alpin traditions, pastoralism and trroir. This airy but tchnically straightforward circuit follows th ridg from to and th Aiguill Croch, a suprb blvdr from which to admir th famous Dôms d Miag and th prcipitous wst fac of Mont Blanc. Looking away from th roof of Europ, th viws xtnd far and wid across th Baufortain, th Aravis, Mgèv, Ls Fiz and th Uppr Arv Vally. Travrsr l villag d Saint Nicolas d Véroc (bll églis) t continur ctt rout ncor 1 km jusqu au liu-dit L Plany. Stationnr sur un ptit parking situé sur la gauch (2 bancs vrts, trminus d la rout, ). S garz corrctmnt car pu d plac. Si complt, stationnr au villag d Saint Nicolas t parcourir à pid la rout mnant au départ du circuit. From Sallanchs, follow signs to Saint-Grvaisls-Bains (D909) and thn to Saint Nicolas d Véroc (D43). Go through Saint Nicolas d Véroc (prtty church) and continu along th road for 1 km to L Plany. Park in a small parking ara on th lft (2 grn bnchs, nd of th road, ). Plas park considratly, as thr is not much spac. If th parking ara is full, park in Saint Nicolas and run/walk up th road to th start of th circuit. Itinérair/Itinrary Attaqur par la ptit rout qui mont dans l hamau du Plany. Après la duxièm épingl, prndr l larg chmin sur la gauch n dirction d Porchry/mont Joly (pannau sur l mur d la frm). 0h05. Passr dvant la frm t prndr la pist raid t assz soutnu (laissr tous ls chmins partant à droit, forêt ombragé). La pist s transform n chmin, l suivr jusqu à l alpag d Porchry (1720 m, rstauration, au) B. 1h00. D l alpag d Porchry, prndr la pist qui mont n lacts jusqu à l épaul au liu-dit l Motty (1937 m) C. 0h20. Go up th tiny road through L Plany. Aftr th scond hairpin, turn lft onto th wid track to L Porchry and (sign on th wall of th farm). 5 min. Go past th farm and had up th stp and sustaind track (do not tak any of th trails on th right, shady forst). Th track narrows to a path, which is followd to th Porchry madows (1720 m, rfrshmnts, watr) B. 1 hr. Zigzag up th track abov th Porchry madows to th spur at L Motty (1937 m) C. 20 min. C Brgri

Eau à la prmièr brgri sur la gauch du chmin, drnir point d au avant l aiguill Croch. En amont du télésièg d l épaul d Joly, par un raidillon, attindr l mont Géroux (2288 m, pannau). 0h40. Continur n rstant sur la croup (snt un pu rochus) jusqu au sommt du mont Joly (2525 m, antnn, tabl d orintation) D. 0h30. Du sommt du mont Joly, vu sur tout l arêt qui mèn à l aiguill Croch, E 3,5 km! Whr th path on th spur forks C, continu straight up th crst. Th first shphrd s hut is th last sourc of drinking watr bfor th Aiguill Croch. Go past th top of th Épaul d Joly chairlift and up stpr ground to th summit of (2288 m, sign). 40 min. Continu along th rocky path on th ridg to th summit of (2525 m, antnna, viwpoint indicator) D. 30 min. From thr is a wondrful viw of th ntir ridg to th Aiguill Croch, E 3.5 km away. Col d la Têt d Combaz D Aiguill Croch Col du Joly Lac d la Girott Poursuivr sur l arêt t par un suit d montés t dscnts, passr par la Têt d la Combaz (2445 m) F, l col (2354 m) puis la Têt du Vélray (2452 m) pour attindr par un drnir raidillon l aiguill Croch (2487 m, antnn). 1h00. Dscndr du sommt d l aiguill Croch par un snt raid (dirction Sud-st), jusqu à un pist. Suivr ctt pist n lacts n rstant sous ls câbls du télésièg. À la jonction d arrivé avc l télésièg ds Tircs, prndr à droit la pist sur 100 m, puis tournr à gauch (pannau dirction Colombaz). L chmin zigzagu sous l télésièg. Arrivr à un frm (2030 m) t prndr à gauch la dirction Colombaz (pannau). 0h20. Aiguill Croch Travrs th undulating ridg, going ovr Têt d la Combaz (2445 m) F, Col du Vélray (2354 m) and Têt du Vélray (2452 m). Stpr ground lads to th summit of th Aiguill Croch (2487 m, antnna). 1 hr. Follow th path down th stp southast spur of th Aiguill Croch, thn zigzag down th track blow th draglift to th top of th Tircs chairlift. Turn right and follow th track for 100 m, thn turn lft (sign to Colombaz) and zigzag down blow th chairlift to a farm (2030 m). Turn lft at th farm towards Colombaz (sign). 20 min. Rstr prudnt sur l chmin d la crêt ralliant l mont Joly à l aiguill d Croch, accidnté suit à ds éboulmnts. Après ctt longu travrsé (ruissaux) via ls Mys (chalt,1989 m), l téléski du Vélray (1983 m), la Tirc (1972 m), la Borgia (1873 m) G, rjoindr l intrsction avc l chmin qui mèn au col d la Têt d la Combaz (1815 m, pannau, barrièr à vach, ruins). 0h40. Poursuivr la dscnt (fontain d au potabl) jusqu au hamau d Colombaz (1505 m). 0h15. Ravitaillmnt possibl au rstaurant du hamau H. Prndr la pist carrossabl sur la gauch jusqu au hamau L Baptiu (1179 m). 0h20. Raccourci possibl par un snt n aval d la pist. Follow th track, and thn a good path, across th madows towards Ls Contamins (northast). 25 min. This long travrs gos ovr svral strams and past Ls Mys (chalt, 1989 m), th Vélray draglift (1983 m), La Tirc (1972 m) and La Borgia (1873 m) bfor joining th path to th Col d la Têt d la Combaz (1815 m, sign, cattl gat, ruins). 40 min. Go down this path (drinking watr fountain) to th hamlt of Colombaz (1505 m). 15 min. Rfrshmnts can b bought at th aubrg in th hamlt. Turn lft and follow th drivabl track to L Baptiu (1179 m). 20 min. A shortcut can b mad by going down th path blow th track. Col du Joly Hamau d Colombaz Aiguill Croch Alpag ds Contamins Dôms d Miag Mont Blanc Si bsoin d un ravitaillmnt dpuis l aiguill Croch, il st possibl d dscndr dirctmnt jusqu au col du mont Joly (rstaurant). Rprndr nsuit la travrsé vrs ls Contamins n dirction ds Tircs puis la Colombaz. Attntion : très pu d points d ravitaillmnt d au sur l parcours. If you nd food or watr aftr th Aiguill Croch, go straight down to th Col du (rstaurant) and thn rgain th travrs towards Ls Contamins by following th path to Ls Tircs and La Colombaz. NB: Thr ar vry fw placs to gt drinking watr along th rout. À la chapll du hamau, tournr à gauch t suivr la rout jusqu au stop. 0h05. Passr dvant l chalt du CAF t suivr la rout du Plan du Moulin jusqu au grand virag au liu-dit La Chapll (1080 m, ptit pont, pannau St Nicolas d Véroc). 0h30. Avant l pont, prndr sur la gauch un chmin qui mont n lisièr d un pré puis n forêt, dirction l Cartyron (pannaux). Au liu-dit, l Cartyron, prndr l chmin d gauch à plat, qui ramèn au parking du Plany. 0h20. Turn lft at th chapl in L Baptiu and follow th road to th stop sign. 5 min. Go past th Frnch Alpin Club chalt and continu along th Plan du Moulin road to th larg bnd at La Chapll (1080 m, small bridg, sign to St Nicolas d Véroc). 30 min. Turn lft just bfor th bridg and go up th path alongsid and thn through th forst to L Cartyron (signs). From L Cartyron, follow th flat track on th lft to gt back to th parking ara at L Plany. 20 min.
