Des millions d enfants sont orphelins et grandissent sans pouvoir se construire à travers une image paternelle valorisante. En 2003, Amy Stokes s est rendue en Afrique du Sud où elle a adopté un enfant. Afin d aider ces orphelins du SIDA, elle a créé «infinitefamily». Cet organisme met en relation un enfant orphelin avec un mentor. Transcript Presenter: Well on this second week of the new year, we introduce you to the first CNN hero of 2011, every day people changing the world. We take you to South Africa where nearly two million children have been orphaned by AIDS. Meet a, meet a woman who is redefining family for hundreds of children left without role models. Amy Stokes uses the Internet to build meaningful relationships between teens and adults all over the world. Amy Stokes: Connor are you gonna help me do this other one? In 2003, my husband and I went to Johannesburg and we adopted our son. Here you go HIV AIDS has really decimated some of these communities. We ve seen all of the children and so few adults to help them grow up. If none of the adults you care about has ever lived past thirty-five, then why would you think you can? Why would you stay in school? Why would you invest in yourself? I had to find a way to bring the caring nurturing effect of other adults for that child to invest in themselves. I m Amy Stokes, I use the Internet to create a global village where the mentors and the kids can interact face to face on a regular basis. Child: Hi June, how are you? Amy Stokes: When that mentor shows up every week, a relation starts between one person here and one person there and then that relationship expands. Teacher: My mentor is so good, I like him very much. Amy Stokes: Because they want to connect with that special someone, they are going to learn keyboard skills, the skills they will need to have jobs and to be able to do whatever they need in the future. Faire émettre des hypothèses sur les liens entre le garçon et l adulte. II. Visionner l ensemble du reportage et faire restituer l essentiel de ce qui a été compris. III. Compréhension détaillée 1. a) Niveau 5e : Faire écouter le présentateur et cocher la bonne réponse. Arrêter après «on this second week of the new year» afin que les élèves puissent déduire que le reportage a été diffusé en janvier. b) Faire compléter la dernière phrase de ce que dit le présentateur. c) et d) Niveau 6e : Ces deux activités permettront de revoir les nombres de onze à vingt et d inférer les sens de teens et AIDS. Faire constater en observation réfléchie de la langue que la position du < s > dans les deux acronymes SIDA et AIDS provient de la syntaxe de la détermination : en anglais le mot le plus important est à la fin. 2. a) Écoute fractionnée jusqu à «face to face on a regular basis» et faire compléter le tableau qui pourra être utilisé en prise de parole en continu. Attirer l attention des élèves sur ce qui apparaît en haut de l écran Yonkers.
