4 Monday, January 18th Les deux présents et le preterit 1) Deux règles incoutournables/réflexes en anglais : - Le NOT doit être collé à un auxiliaire - Dans les questions, l auxiliaire passe avant le sujet Deux possibilités : - Soit l auxiliaire est déjà dans la phrase : - BE (am/are/is)(was/were) - HAVE - CAN / COULD - MUST - SHOULD - MAY / MIGHT - WILL / WOULD - Soit il n y a pas d auxiliaire dans la phrase et j utilise DO qui, en échange de son aide, vole la conjugaison au verbe (et du coup, le verbe revient à l infinitif) 2) On a déjà vu: - le Présent simple : les habitudes, les vérités générales - le Présent BE + V-ing : ce qui est en train de se dérouler 3) Aujourd hui nous voyons le Preterit : le passé coupé du présent a- Forme affirmative Pour mettre un verbe au prétérit, je rajoute ED à toutes les personnes. I/you/she/he/it/we/they lov ed carrots in Sauf si c est un verbe irrégulier : je prends l avant-dernière colonne de la liste I ate carrots in 2002.

5 b- Forme négative Je prends NOT donc j ai besoin d un auxiliaire. Comme je n en ai pas à la base dans la phrase, j utilise DO qui en échange, vole au verbe sa conjugaison et devient ainsi DID. 7 Monday, January 25th Prononciation 1) La prononciation du ED : - d si le mot se termine avec la voix, comme: played, tidied, cleaned - t si le mot se termine sans la voix, comme : missed, washed, helped, looked, finished, watched, walked - id si prononcer le ED d ou t est impossible, comme : wanted, visited, invited
