6 GTPEX & GTPEX-R uses & applications Domestic Water Supply Lines GTPEX pipes are the perfect plastic sanitary pipes for potable (hot and cold) water. They are produced with smooth inside walls to prevent corrosion and deposit accumulation, thus improving flow rates seen in metal pipes by 30 %. GTPEX is easy to bend and can be installed directly on girder or inside wall and concrete. Radiant Heat GTPEX-R is ideal for a comfortable environment and cost efficient use in heating compared to typical forced air heating systems. GTPEX-R pipes are specially designed to keep your environment at the desired temperature and comfort levels while remaining cost efficient in heating. GTPEX-R system loops can be installed directly, up to 92 m (300 ft) without any fittings. Our system keeps its efficiency in a wide range of temperatures, from 40 C (-40 F) to 93 C (200 F). Easy Replacement and Repair With GTPEX, there is no need to break tiles, walls and flooring. When replacing or installing the piping system, it is very easy to snake through tight areas without unnecessary destruction. Repairing the system is performed easily by pulling out the GTPEX pipe and reinserting the new one. This works very well when replacing galvanized or damaged polybutylene piping systems. Municipal Water Supply Pipes Municipal steel water supply lines are attacked by corrosion due to the following: Poor water quality due to increasing chlorine content; Corrosive environment; Unprofessional and faulty installations. The GTPEX system offers durable solutions to municipal water supply lines and is used in the following applications: main and secondary pipelines in building areas, inlet connections in buildings and fire extinguishing pipelines. GTPEX Pipes for Sewer Lines Testing performed over the past years has concluded that the physical and chemical properties of PEX remain intact over time. GTPEX provides several important benefits when used in sewer applications, such as: Elimination of inflow and infiltration, even in wet weather conditions on gravity flow systems; Corrosion resistance: GTPEX is highly effective against the hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas and low concentration acid found in sanitary sewers; Cost-effective installations: according to the Federal Highway Administration, Utility companies spend over $36 billion annually on corrosion protection of pipes. GTPEX does not corrode or tuberculate. Its long life cycle and its resistance to infiltration into the pipe or leakage into the environment reduces maintenance budgets considerably. Riser Mains for Wells One of the most recent GTPEX pipe applications is for pumping water from wells (at a depth of over 66 m (200 ft)) by means of a continuous GTPEX pipe coupled to a submersible pump and engine. Industrial Applications With an excellent resistance to abrasion and chemical agents, GTPEX is an ideal conduit for a wide range of industrial applications. Many conventional pipes are inappropriate in such conditions due to the abrasion caused by chemicals with solids and liquid mix or because of their inherent vulnerability to chemical aggression from solutions and acids. The industrial applications of GTPEX pipes include: Handling slurries (gypsum, sand, salt, phosphates, potash, etc.); Handling various chemicals; Handling industrial wastes. GTPEX Geothermal Systems GTPEX geothermal systems transfer heat from a house to the earth in the cooling mode, or from the earth to the house in the heating mode. Water is used as the heat transfer medium, either in a closed loop piping system, or by directly pumping well water in an open loop system. Closed loop systems consist of an underground heat exchange network of GTPEX pipes and a pumping module. When cooling, the loop fluid temperature rises, and rejected heat is dissipated into the cooler earth. Conversely, while heating, the loop fluid temperatures fall, and heat is absorbed from the earth. A pumping module then utilizes small wattage ing system. Open loop systems utilize ground water as a direct energy source when good quality water is available at a reasonable pumping depth. 6 [email protected] gtglobe

All manufacturers will attempt to convince you that their type is the best. But what are the facts? At GTGlobe, we are bringing you only the facts and we are providing you with information from trusted, independent sources and authorities. All information can be verified and validated as our goal is to help you make a clear decision. GTGlobe is producing PEXa, PEX b and PEX c; however, favor PEXb as it presents the best cost efficiency solution while not reducing quality. PEX TYPE Production method Approved by Minimum bending radius 3 Minimum recommended bending radius 4 Cost A B C Peroxide process also known as Engel PEX, due to the name of the inventor of PEX. This is a two stage hot cross-linking process occurring while the material is in its anamorphic or hot state. Peroxides are normally incorporated during the extrusion process and cross-linking is achieved by heating the High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) above the decomposition temperature of the peroxides to create the free radicals which initiate the cross-linking. Silane process is often referred to as moisture cure method because the materials cross-link or cure on exposure of the pipe to water. This process uses HDPE resin with additives that react when the pipe is exposed to heat and moisture after extrusion. Radiation process is produced in a two stage process using gamma/beta energy. First High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is extruded into pipe. After the extrusion process, cross-linking of the HDPE is achieved by bombarding the pipe with electromagnetic radiation (gamma) or high energy electrons (beta). These processes referred to as nuclear and electron beams respectively, occur from the outside in. All three processes produce tubing that exceed the minimum requirements of ASTM F876 and are acceptable for potable water distribution applications. All PEX that has been tested and certified for potable applications carries the mark(s) of nationally recognized third-party certification agencies such as NSF, IAPMO, [ ] 1 And CSA. 2 1 /2 diameter pipe = 3¾ radius EVEN IF PEX a is more flexible than PEX b and PEX c. 42 Technical Information Renseignements techniques CONCLUSION THE ONLY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PEX A, B AND C ARE: LES SEULES DIFFÉRENCES ENTRE LE PEX A, B ET C SONT : 1- Production method There is actually no plumbing application requiring a specific production method. 2- Flexibility Yes, PEXa is slightly more flexible, EVEN IF PEX a is more flexible than PEX b and PEX c, there is NO manufacturer recommending to bend it more than 6 times its outside diameter (1/2 SDR9 pipe outside diameter = 5/8, which means a maximum bending radius of 3 3/4 ), WHATEVER IF IT IS PEX A, B OR C. 3- Cost Pex b is the most cost efficient PEX type on the market. You or your customers should ask yourself if it is worth paying more money for the other types when all certifications and capabilities are the same. Whether the major manufacturers produce PEX a, PEX b, or PEX c, they all have the same certifications. All PEX cannot exceed 200 F constant temperature at 80psi. If all PEX manufactures have the same certifications, then why would you pay double the manufacturing costs for a little more flexibility when YOU DON T NEED THAT FLEXIBILITY ANYWAY? THEY WILL ALL MEET YOUR INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS. Quick reminders Whenever you are buying a plumbing product, always make sure of these points: Certifications When used in potable water applications, the PEX pipe should be NSF certified in the US ans CSA in Canada.Check with and to comply with minimum quality requirements, all PEX produced should have the ASTM 876/877 standards. The GTGlobe cross-linked polyethylene tubing (PEX) are warranted for a period of twenty-five () years from the date of purchase on the defects in material, under normal condition of use. 47 Politique de garantie POLITIQUE DE GARANTIE LIMITÉE ANS Sous réserve des modalités et conditions de cette Garantie Limitée, les Produits (ci-après et collectivement «les Produits») GTGlobe Industries et GTGlobe Inc. (ci-après et collectivement «GTGlobe») sont garantis seulement pour le propriétaire des biens immeubles lorsqu installé par un plombier titulaire d un permis, qui a acheté et installé les Produits en suivant le code de plomberie applicable du territoire où l achat a été effectué. Les tubes de polyéthylène réticulés (PEX) GTGlobe possèdent une garantie couvrant une période de vingt-cinq () ans à partir de la date d achat, sur les défectuosités de matériau, sous conditions normales d utilisation. Il est expressément compris qu une défectuosité résultant du gel du fluide caloriporteur circulant dans les tuyaux ne constitue pas un défaut matériel ou de fabrication et ne sera pas couverte par cette garantie. Pour que cette Garantie Limitée s applique, les Produits doivent être installés par un entrepreneur professionnel détenteur de permis, conformément aux instructions d installation GTGlobe telles que décrites dans le Manuel d installation technique GTGlobe, répondant à toutes les normes de code applicables et aux bonnes pratiques en matière de plomberie. Pour les produits suivants, commercialisés par GTGlobe, la garantie pour les manifolds expire après deux (2) ans et raccords expire après cinq (5) ans suivant la date de fabrication. Tous les autres produits GTGlobe, incluant les composantes électriques, ont une garantie d un an suivant la date d achat. UNE INSTALLATION DES PRODUITS QUI N EST PAS EFFECTUÉE EN SUIVANT LES INSTRUCTIONS DU FABRICANT ANNULERA TOUTE GARANTIE APPLICABLE ET POURRAIT ENTRAÎNER DE GRAVES DOMMAGES CAUSÉS PAR L EAU. Sous cette garantie, vous seul avez le droit au remboursement si la défectuosité ou la fuite est la conséquence directe d un défaut de fabrication des Produits couverte par cette garantie et survient pendant la période couverte par la garantie. Cette garantie ne s applique pas, et vous n avez pas droit au remboursement si la défectuosité ou les dommages indirects sont causés par : 1. gel pendant ou après l installation ou une protection contre le gel inadéquate; 2. dommages causés par un accroc, bris, ou autres dommages externes avant, pendant ou après l installation; 3. des composantes dont la fabrication ou la vente ne sont pas assurées par GTGlobe; 4. exposition à des températures ou pressions au-delà de l écart spécifié pour les Produits tel qu indiqué sur le Produit ou dans le Manuel 5. exposition à des substances ou produits chimiques nocifs, non autorisés, imprévus ou à une eau corrosive; 6. expositions aux rayons ultraviolets; 7. dommages ou usure pour cause de conditions d utilisation anormales, d accident, d abus, d usage impropre, ou de réparation ou altérations non autorisées. 8. des outils et accessoires : poignées brisées, manches tordus, marques de coup de marteau ou de pinces 9. des lames non couvertes par cette garantie, angles arrondis. 10. si installé dans des applications industrielles et marines ou sous des conditions anormales. À la réception de la réclamation écrite selon les termes de cette Garantie Limitée au cours des dix (10) années suivant la date de l achat et de la preuve/identification de la date de manufacture du Produit, et après inspection par un agent GTGlobe autorisé et détermination qu il y a bien défaut de fabrication, GTGlobe remboursera le propriétaire des biens immeubles pour des frais raisonnables de remplacement ou de réparation, y compris la cloison sèche et la peinture ainsi que les dommages encourus aux biens immeubles et aux établissements où le Produit est installé, conséquences de la défectuosité ou de la fuite. Tous les Produits considérés défectueux doivent être mis à la disposition de GTGlobe pour fins de tests et pour déterminer la cause. Cette garantie est limitée aux frais de réparation ou de remplacement du Produit dont la défectuosité a été confirmée, installation comprise. À notre faculté, et à notre seule discrétion, nous allons réparer ou remplacer le Produit par un Produit GTGlobe du même type, ou de taille et de quantité similaire. À l exception de cas susmentionnés, nous n assumerons aucun coût (en main d œuvre ou autre) relié à l enlèvement de Produit(s) préalablement installé(s), à l installation de Produit(s) de remplacement, ni au transport ou au retour d un Produit.
