Innovation and Collaboration: Pathways to the Heart Innovation et collaboration : cheminement au cœur Preliminary Programme préliminaire HOSTED BY ORGANISATIONS D ACCUEIL

Welcome FROM THE ANNUAL MEETING CHAIR Dear Delegates, On behalf of the Canadian Cardiovascular Society (CCS), I am delighted to invite you to the 2015 Canadian Cardiovascular Congress (CCC) to be held in Toronto from October 24 27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. In 2000, 10 organizations came together to focus on cardiovascular care in our community, making the CCC a unique Canadian opportunity. Since then, the CCC has continued to build on its successes and remains the highlight of the year for Canadian health professionals and organizations interested in cardiovascular medicine. CCC 2015 will bring together 20 national cardiovascular health affiliate associations and societies for its 16 th Annual meeting. I hope the CCC 2015 theme Innovation and Collaboration: Pathways to the Heart inspires you to join over 3,500 delegates to discuss new clinical, scientific, and policy research in the exciting field of cardiology. The Community Forum offers you The Commons, a place to meet with your colleagues daily at CCC. Here, you can view poster presentations featuring the latest research from 13 different learning tracks and discuss the findings with the authors while enjoying a glass of wine. The Scientific Program Committee (SPC), Chaired by Dr. Howard Leong-Poi, has been working hard to create the following dynamic sessions: SPC Symposium: Hot Topics in Resuscitation CCS/ACC Symposium: The Intersection Between the Heart and Cancer Public Policy: Can we Afford the Rising Costs of Cardiovascular Care in Canada? The Canadian Journal of Cardiology: Managing Cardiovascular Disease in the Elderly Handling a Twenty-first Century Epidemic The Debate on Salt: Too Much of a Good Thing or Much Ado About Nothing (PRO: Dr. Norman Campbell, CON: Dr. Salim Yusuf) The Great TAVI Debate The 2015 debates will offer you education in an entertaining style that is not to be missed! I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the organizing committees who work tirelessly to put together programs in each area of specialization. Also, thank you to our colleagues in Toronto who will host us in their lively city for the third time in 16 years. I hereby warmly invite you all to share your research and policy work with us at a meeting that will undoubtedly bring us together in collaboration and innovation. See you in The Commons. Todd Anderson Annual Meeting Chair
