Organised in collaboration with PwC Luxembourg, the theme of this year s conference will be: #RéinventerLuxembourg During two half-days, political decision-makers, public officials, entrepreneurs and economists will all come together to analyse the economic program of the new government and discuss new development opportunities to build the future of Luxembourg. 10 Les Journées de l Economie 2014 Docteur en économie appliquée de l Université de Liège, Serge Allegrezza est directeur de l Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg (STATEC) depuis avril 2003 et de l Observatoire de la compétitivité depuis 2005. Il est membre du Conseil économique et social (CES) depuis 1992. In addition to his duties, Serge Allegrezza has also been a scientific adviser of the Centre de Recherche Public Henri Tudor since 2005. He has also been serving as Chairman of the board of LuxTrust since 2005 and Chairman of the board of directors of Entreprise des Postes et Télécommunications in Luxembourg since 2013. Tania Berchem was born on 19 September 1969 in Esch-sur-Alzette. Activité professionnelle Professional activities Après plus de 15 années d expérience acquises auprès du Service information et presse du gouvernement luxembourgeois, Tania Berchem rejoint la Direction des relations économiques internationales et des affaires européennes auprès du ministère des Affaires étrangères et européennes début janvier 2014, où elle assume la fonction de coordinateur général pour la promotion de l image de marque. Having acquired more than 15 years of experience with the Information and Press Service of the Luxembourg Government, Tania Berchem joined the Directorate of International Economic Relations and European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in early January 2014, where she assumed the role of general coordinator for the promotion of the brand image. Her sphere of competence also included organising the media coverage of state visits and trade promotion missions as well as other events on a national and international scale. Dr. David Brown a occupé des fonctions au sein de 4 des 10 premières sociétés pharmaceutiques du monde, à savoir Zeneca, Pfizer, GlaxoWellcome et Hoffmann-La Roche. Dr. David Brown a également été président directeur général de Cellzome AG, une société de biotechnologie ayant son siège à Heidelberg en Allemagne. Lors de son passage chez Pfizer, Dr. David Brown a été nommé co-inventeur pour le brevet de Viagra, un traitement contre l impuissance masculine et a dirigé l équipe qui a démontré l efficacité clinique du médicament par l intermédiaire d essais cliniques menés sur des sujets humains. Ce médicament est également commercialisé en traitement de l hypertension pulmonaire sous le nom commercial de Revatio. Dr. David Brown a également joué un rôle clé dans la découverte de Relpax, un traitement contre la migraine. L ensemble de ces médicaments ont enregistré des ventes supérieures à 30 milliards de dollars. Dr. David Brown a également occupé le poste de directeur au sein de Roche en Suisse et était responsable de la productivité de plus de 2 000 salariés travaillant sur la découverte de médicaments sur l ensemble des sites de recherche de Roche aux États-Unis, en Europe et en Asie. Dr. David Brown a siégé au sein de hauts-comités sur le développement clinique et le développement des activités. Economy Days 2014 Dr David Brown has nearly 40 years experience in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry both in research and in senior executive roles. He served with 4 of the top 10 pharmaceutical companies: Zeneca, Pfizer, GlaxoWellcome, and Hoffman La-Roche; and also as President and Chief Executive of Cellzome AG, a biotechnology company with headquarters in Heidelberg, Germany. Whilst at Pfizer he was named co-inventor on the patent for Viagra, a treatment for male impotence, and he led the team that developed Viagra through to proof of clinical efficacy in human clinical trials. The drug is also marketed for treatment of pulmonary hypertension under the trade name Revatio. He also had a pivotal role in the discovery of Relpax, a treatment for migraine. Together these drugs have achieved sales of over $30 billion. While at Roche in Switzerland, he was a Director of the company with responsibility for productivity of over 2000 staff focused on drug discovery at all five of Roche s research sites in the USA, Europe and Asia. He served on Clinical Development and Business Development senior committees. Since 2005 Dr David Brown has pursued a portfolio of roles dedicated to bringing new medical treatments to both the developed and developing world. In the Western world, his main focus is on developing new approaches to the growing problem of antibiotic resistance, which he pursues via entrepreneurial small biotechnology companies. Dr David Brown has a strong interest in entrepreneurialism. He has founded or co-founded several biotechnology and consultancy companies. He is Chair of the board at Babraham Commercialisation Services at Babraham Research Campus, a biotech incubator site at Cambridge, UK. He is an Angel investor in high-technology start-up companies. He coaches CEOs and entrepreneurs at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at Cambridge University Business School. Dr David Brown has extensive experience of leadership at both Chief Executive and Board level. He currently serves on the boards of Indigix Ltd (Chair), Amura Ltd (Chair), ProFactor Pharma Ltd (Chair) and Babraham Commercialisation Services Ltd (Chair). He is also Chair of the Scientific Advisory Boards of Heptares Ltd. He serves on the Technology Transfer Strategy Panel of the Wellcome Trust, London, which provides governance oversight and guidance on strategic direction for the Trust s grantawarding bodies. He has previously served on the boards of Cellzome AG in Germany (as CEO) and the Institute for One World Health (now part of PATH) in San Francisco (as interim CEO then interim Chair of the Board), and currently he is Chair of the External Advisory Board. Xavier Buck also co-founded and invested in several other Internet companies, like: DomainInvest, DomainTools, LuxCloud, and more recently Mega. Economy Days 2014 Robert Dennewald est né à Luxembourg en 1953. Après ses études secondaires à Luxembourg il poursuit son cursus à l Université de Liège (B) et sort en 1978 avec le grade d ingénieur civil des constructions. Robert Dennewald Président, Fedil - Business Federation Luxembourg Chairman, Fedil Business Federation Luxembourg Son parcours professionnel débute en 1978 au Service de la Grande Voirie de l Administration des Ponts et Chaussées de Luxembourg. En 1979, il rejoint l ARBED comme ingénieur du Service Assistance Technique. De 1983 à 1986 il est muté à TradeARBED Inc. New York pour la création d un service d assistance technique spécialisé dans le secteur des bâtiments multi-étages, notamment dans les zones sismiques. De 1986 à 1993, il occupe les fonctions d attaché à la direction de TradeARBED puis de directeur d Europrofil, responsable de la grande exportation produits longs d ARBED. En 1993, il rejoint en tant que directeur de Matériaux S.A. le groupe Ciments Luxembourgeois, et prend la responsabilité du secteur des produits préfabriqués en béton. En 1996, il est nommé président directeur général d Eurobéton S.A., qui connaît jusqu en 2004 un développement important, notamment dans le nord-est de la France. En 2006, il réalise une opération de MBO/ LBO du groupe Eurobéton avec 4 partenaires financiers luxembourgeois. En 2010 il prend le contrôle du groupe. Robert Dennewald est président de la Fedil - Business Federation Luxembourg depuis 2006, vice-président de la Chambre de Commerce Luxembourg et administrateur d ING Luxembourg. Il est aussi curateur de la Fondation Jean-Pierre Pescatore. Il est marié et père de quatre enfants. 15 Robert Dennewald was born in Luxembourg in 1953. After secondary school in Luxembourg he obtained a degree in civil engineering at the University of Liège (B). He started his professional career at the Luxembourg Highway Department in 1978. In 1979 he joined ARBED as a civil engineer in the Technical Assistance Department. From 1983 until 1986 he implemented at TradeARBED Inc. in New York a Technical Assistance Department, specialised in highrise buildings located in seismic zones. From 1986 until 1993 he took over the export sales of long products of ARBED, first as a member of the management of TradeARBED S.A., then as a director of Europrofil S.A.. In 1993 he joined the cement group Ciments Luxembourgeois as a director of Matériaux S.A. and took the responsibility of the prefabricated concrete business unit. In 1996 he was appointed President and CEO of Eurobeton S.A., which substantially developed its activities in the North-East of France until 2004. In 2006 he accomplished together with 4 financial partners a MBO/LBO takeover of the Eurobeton Group. Beginning of 2010 he took a controlling interest in Eurobeton, which is a main supplier of building materials in Luxembourg with its subsidiary Chaux de Contern. Robert Dennewald is Chairman of Fedil Business Federation Luxembourg since 2006 and a Vice-President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Jean-Pierre Pescatore Foundation. He is married and the father of four children.

Depuis 1993, Gary Kneip est chef d entreprise et se consacre à la gestion de plusieurs sociétés spécialisées en logiciels et systèmes informatiques. Depuis 2004, il occupe les fonctions de PDG de DATA4 Luxembourg, un important centre de colocalisation et prestataire de services informatiques dématérialisés offrant des solutions d hébergement à de grandes sociétés internet internationales. Outre ses activités professionnelles, Gary Kneip est le président du Conseil économique et social et il est à la tête de la Confédération luxembourgeoise du commerce représentant les secteurs du commerce, des services et du transport.
