Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Alive 2015 MLFAlive15 - PDST Maynooth University, samedi 7 novembre 2015 «In conversation with... the French Embassy» The French Embassy has a number of actions aiming at supporting teachers of French in Ireland : A new 5 years CPD training plan especially aimed at secondary school teachers, elaborated with the DES and the FTA: -4 Training sessions a year by an didactic expert from France, taking place in 3 different location each time -a monthly 2 hours pedagogical evening workshop at the Alliance-Française-de- Dublin -15 scholarships for a 2 weeks in-service training in France -15 scholarships for a 4 days in-service training at the Alliance-Française-de- Dublin Financial help to associations (FTA, AFA, ADEFFI) The French language assistants scheme (see p3) Cinema : -Financial and technical support to the IFI to elaborate the yearly movie studyguide : http://www.ifi.ie/girlhood -An online movie platform, IFCinema, providing more than 500 movies (see p4) Several pedagogical and cultural actions promoting French language and culture, espacially during the month of the Francophonie. Foreign Language assistant's scheme. This programme has been going on since 1967 between France in Ireland. Each year 60 French language native speakers come to Ireland for 8 months to support the teaching of French language in Irish secondary schools. Schools interested to receive an assistant should apply between December and January by the DES. Un outil cinéma : L Institut Français Paris et le Service Culturel de l proposent aux enseignants de français d accéder à la plateforme IFcinéma et de profiter de plus de 500 films dont la moitié sont sous-titrés en français ou en anglais. Plus de70 dossiers pédagogiques sont également à votre disposition. Le but premier de la plateforme IFcinéma est de faire découvrir le cinéma français, c'est pourquoi les enseignants ne doivent pas se contenter de travailler en classe sur quelques extraits mais doivent organiser une vraie séance de cinéma et projeter le film dans son intégralité. Les enseignants peuvent organiser des projections dans un but pédagogique, proposer un ciné-club régulier dans leur établissement ou tout autre projet, à la condition de respecter les règles suivantes : - Les projections sont publiques et non commerciales c est-à-dire gratuites ou sans bénéfices, de type ciné-club, effectuées hors festival. - Elles ont lieu dans des salles dédiées, de petite ou moyenne capacité, et équipées en matériel vidéo. - Les films doivent être projetés dans leur intégralité, dans le respect des droits d auteur. - Les films ne peuvent pas être projetés pendant le cours, mais doivent faire l objet d une vraie séance de projection. - Le travail pédagogique doit se faire en dehors des projections.
