Jeroen EROSIE GRAPHIC SURGERY TOMEK PRESENTENT C R O I S E M E N T Chercheurs de l art urbain Quatre artistes «chercheurs» qui loin de se satisfaire d une esthétique figée ont cela en commun de remettre sans arrêt en question les résultats de leur travail et de traquer de nouveaux territoires. Tous ont un passé et un présent sur les murs de la ville, mais, c est pour mieux s en nourrir puis s en détacher dans leur travail d atelier. Cette exposition est l occasion de croiser ces différentes démarches esthétiques, nées d une posture de recherche et d expérimentation, dont la règle est la remise en jeu permanentes entre concepts et liberté du geste. URBAN ART S RESEARCHERS Four artistic researchers who are far from being satisfied with a motionless aesthetic. They share the idea that it is important to push the result of the work to the background, looking for new and other territories. Each of them have a past and a present on the walls of the cities they encounter. This triggers them simultaneously to grow away from that in their studio works. This exhibition is the opportunity to cross those different aesthetical creations, results from research and experiments, in which the main rule is to re- explore the concepts linked to a certain idea of freestyle.
GRAPHIC SURGERY, NL Ce duo d artistes formé d ERRIS HUIGENS et de GYSBERT ZIJLSTRA est né il y a plus de dix ans, lorsqu ils se sont rendus compte qu ils photographiaient la ville de manière analogue. Leur travail est directement issu de l esthétique que constitue les éléments de construction et déconstruction du paysage urbain. Ils font de l observation des grues, des échafaudages et de toutes architectures métalliques qui bouillonnent dans les zones portuaires et industrielles du pays, un système ornemental sophistiqué, en dignes descendants du mouvement De Stijl, utilisant majoritairement le noir et le blanc, sur des supports très variés. Entre réflexion architecturale, graphisme et constructivisme leurs œuvres agissent comme autant de caléidoscopes urbains. AUTO REPEAT POCHOIR SUR BOIS DE RECUPERATION 79 X86 CM, 2014 This artist duo was formed over 10 years ago when both artists (Erris Huigens and Gysbert Zijlstra) realised they were photographing the city in a similar way. Their work derives directly from the aesthetic of elements relating to constructing and deconstructing the urban landscape. From these observations of cranes, scaffolds and various architectural details, which are present in places like harbors and industrial areas, they subtracted a decorative motive signature. Deserving descendents of De Stijl movement working in mostly black and white applied to various media. Operating between architectural concepts, graphic art and constructivism, each work turns out to be an urban kaleidoscope.

JEROEN EROSIE, NL Né en 76 Vit et travaille à Eindhoven, Pays- Bas Il commence le graffiti en 1993 parallèlement à une carrière d illustrateur. Référence pour beaucoup d artistes et exemplaire dans la recherche et la remise en question de son travail, il est capable de toutes les formes esthétiques, il remet toutes les techniques en question après en avoir assimilé les règles pour mieux jouer avec elles. Il fait le lien entre culture classique et modernité. Lorsque dans la rue, il dessine des silhouettes de vélos, le résultat tient à la fois de la calligraphie, du lettrage, du logo, et de la bd et du graffiti. Dans certaines de ses toiles, notamment, la série intitulée «Thought Circle», il peint, puis efface, certaines parties du support, en laissant d autres émergées, comme s il s agissait de faire le lien avec toutes les formes graphiques et d en extraire la quintessence, sans en omettre aucune. L on perçoit chacune des pièces comme une étape de sa réflexion artistique et l on attend avec impatience la phase suivante. He is a reference for a lot of artists and a model in the way he is searching and questioning his own work. He is able to follow various aesthetic forms, questioning all the techniques after having assimilated their rules to be able to play a better game with them. He is creating a link between tradition and modernity. When he was drawing bikes in the streets, the result was at the same time a sign coming from calligraphy, lettering, design, comics and graffiti. In some of his works, called the «Thought Circle» series, he was painting, then erasing certain parts of the surface, as if the subject was to keep the quintessence of each graphical form without forgetting any one of them. We perceive each work as a step of his artistical process and we are looking forward to the next phase.

TOMEK, FR Tomek axe son travail sur l usage de la couleur, et la dynamique du geste, qu il traque dans la rue et en atelier. Pour cette toute nouvelle série de travaux, Tomek joue sur la diversité des techniques et la distance entre le papier et la vitre de l encadrement du dessin. L œuvre naît alors par confrontation. Le résultat est donné à voir comme au travers d essuies glace. Le lettrage toujours présent, en filigrane, sert de trame à l ensemble et l empreinte du graffiti est bien présente. Effacer, recouvrir, révéler, gratter partiellement jusqu à l équilibre. Palimpseste maitrisé de la gestuelle. Arrêts sur image née de la juxtaposition de différentes réalités physiques, ses œuvres illustrent son attraction pour le mouvement, la vitesse, la mutation. Une créativité qui est bien en phase avec son temps. His work is supervised by the use of colors and the gestural dynamic he is pursuing in the streets and in his studio. For this brand new series, Tomek is playing with the diversity of techniques and the distance between the paper and the glass of the frame. The pieces are emerging through confrontation. The result is seen as through windscreen wipers. The calligraphy is always present, only just beneath the surface, organizing the depth of the work. The track of the graffiti is obviously present. Erasing, covering, revealing, scratching parts of the surface until finding balance. Controlled palimpsest of gesture. The result is like a stop (a print) coming from the juxtaposition of different physical realities, an illustration of his attraction for movement, speed, changes. A creativity close to his time.
