Monday, January 18th Les deux présents et le preterit 1) Deux règles incoutournables/réflexes en anglais : - Le NOT doit être collé à un auxiliaire - Dans les questions, l auxiliaire passe avant le sujet Deux possibilités : - Soit l auxiliaire est déjà dans la phrase : - BE (am/are/is)(was/were) - HAVE - CAN / COULD - MUST - SHOULD - MAY / MIGHT - WILL / WOULD - Soit il n y a pas d auxiliaire dans la phrase et j utilise DO qui, en échange de son aide, vole la conjugaison au verbe (et du coup, le verbe revient à l infinitif) 2) On a déjà vu: - le Présent simple : les habitudes, les vérités générales - le Présent BE + V-ing : ce qui est en train de se dérouler 3) Aujourd hui nous voyons le Preterit : le passé coupé du présent a- Forme affirmative Pour mettre un verbe au prétérit, je rajoute ED à toutes les personnes. I/you/she/he/it/we/they lov ed carrots in 2002. Sauf si c est un verbe irrégulier : je prends l avant-dernière colonne de la liste I ate carrots in 2002.
b- Forme négative Je prends NOT donc j ai besoin d un auxiliaire. Comme je n en ai pas à la base dans la phrase, j utilise DO qui en échange, vole au verbe sa conjugaison et devient ainsi DID. Le verbe revient donc à l infinitif. I didn t love carrots in 2002. What did you love in 2002? What did you eat in 2002? Homework 1 a- passé coupé du présent I m tall but in 2010, I was very small/short (passé coupé du présent) b- habitude => present simple She often buys purple pens. c- en train de => present BE+V-ing Why is she buying a new sofa/couch/settee? d- passé coupé du présent => preterit on laisse souvent think au présent simple I bought a new car. What do you think? e- habitude => présent simple I visit my grandparents every day. f- en train de se dérouler => present BE + V -ing She is visiting her brother at the hospital. May I take a message? g- passé coupé du présent => preterit I visited my grandma this weekend / last weekend.
h- habitude => présent simple I always finish my tests late. i- devoirs fini = passé coupé du présent => preterit I finished my homework. Can I watch TV? j- en train de => present BE + V -ing I am finishing my exercise, just a minute Miss! k- habitude => present simple They never go to school. l- passé coupé du présent => preterit We didn t go to school today. m- futur très très proche et très très certain => present BE + ing Tomorrow she is going to Paris for a concert. n- habitude => présent simple They eat chocolate every day. o- passé coupé du présent => preterit I ate soup only when I was sick. p- en train de se dérouler => présent BE+ing I am eating honey because I have a sore throat.
