Pour que la eommande puisse avoir le eontrole du mecanisme, il [aut qu'elle soit capahle de calclller la position et l'orientation de chaque solide a. partir de eette information. Denotons l'information en provenance du meeanisme par un veetcur q et la description de la position et de l'orientation de chaquc solide par un veeteur 1/. Formellcment, une fonction polynomiale 1/J : nn ---+ nn deerit eomplctement le ehangerneut de coordonnecs de TJ vers q, c'est-a.-dire que l'on a 1/J (TJ) = (q,o). Le ehangement de eoordonnees invcrse, de q vers 1/, n'existe que localement, ear la fonction 1/J n'est gcneralement pas hijeetive : plllsieurs modes d'assemblage 1/i ont leur image 1/J (TJi) identiqtle. A un moment donne, la eomlllande ne doit connaltre que lc mode d'assemblage oeeupc rcellcment par le rnccanisme, les autrcs nc l'interessent pas. La seleetion du bon mode d'assemblage 1/ parilli les diffcrents modes TJi n 'est pas tln problcmc ~rivial: cn. toute gener~l~te, l~ hon. Dans eelte these, on propose un algorithme numerique de complexite polynomiale pour I'intcgration de cette equation qui sera utilise pour le calcul du bon TJ. II faut insister sur le fait qu'uu «algorithrne nurneriqlle» se distingue d'une «methode numerique» dans le sens qu'un algorithme fournit toujouts la honne solntion dans un temps fini (pour nne prccision hornee donnce). En d'autres mots, eontraircment aux Illcthodes numeriques, un algorithme numerique est d'une fiabilitc totale (pas de probleme de convergence ni de saut possible dans un mauvais bassin d'attraetion, mcme en arithmetique a virgule flottante). Pour convaincre de son utilite pratique, l'algorithme propose est applique sur un exemple reputc di/neile (prohlcme du rnoclcle geometrique direct d'une plate-forme de Gough Stewart gcncralisce).

For control purposes, only the assembly mode that describes the eurrent mechanism posture is of interest. The selection of the right a~sembly mode 1] among the different 1]. is not a trivial problern. In this thesis, wc proposcd a numerieal algarithm of polynomial eornplexity that ean be used to compute the right 7] hy integration of this differential equation. lt should be stressed that a "numerical algorithm" is distinguished from a "nurnerical method" sinee the cxpected solution is always (within a given error bound) cornputed in finite time. In other words, unlike numerical methods, a numerical algorithrn cannot fail (no convergenee problems and no possible jurnp onto a wrong attra.cting hassin, even with a f10ating point arithmetic). The efficiency of the proposed algorithm is tested on a reputed diffieult exarnple of a generalized Gough-Stcwart platform.
