Petites présentations: describe your best friend, how you met, what s/he does for you & vice versa 2. Talk about your favorite foods 3. Describe the different meals of the day 4. Prepare a shopping list and do grocery shopping 5. Order a meal in the restaurant 6. Set the table 7. Ask for help SHOW IT: 1. Your notebook: Please reference your calendar for French assignments, and the Table de Matières for information posted each day. If you are absent, check in with Mlle s notebook and/or a fellow student. 2. A group project: Please see U8 Group Project handout for more information. 3. Petite Présentation talk about a good friend 4. Petite Présentation talk about your favorite restaurant, what type of cuisine it is, and what your favorite meal is. 5. Foodie Journal 5 entries 6. A test made up of the following parts: a. Listening Comprehension b. Language and communication c. Cultural awareness d. Reading comprehension e. Writing performance f. Individual speaking test

2 You as an individual are responsible for: Vocabulary Builders: You will be required to create vocabulary builder notes for the vocabulary in Unit 8. All vocabulary from pages will need to be included in the vocabulary builders. At the minimum, you will need to write all vocabulary words and provide either the definition or a picture. You may create double column notes or flashcards. Word Definition OR Picture Notes Culturelles: You are responsible for copying all Culture Notes out of the textbook. The Culture notes listed below will be graded for completion at the end of the unit. Make sure to label each Culture note as labelled below. CN 1: p. 371 CN 2: p. 375 CN 3: p. 387 CN 4: p. 397 CN 5: p. 415 CN 6: p Corrections: You will be responsible for correcting all compositions [paragraphs, débuts, and quizzes] in GREEN PEN. Additionally, you will be responsible for correcting all homework in GREEN PEN. DVD and Listening Comprehension packets do not need to be corrected. Take home quizzes may not be corrected, as they are open notes to begin with! As a class, we will complete Grammar Notes [check your Table de Matières in your GN/Début journal and make sure all foldables and notes are included as necessary and labelled correctly!

3 A group skit project. Directions: You have a choice of skits. You will write and act out a skit with either of the following as a theme: A French cooking show, where you will cook something, or a dinner skit [at home or at a restaurant]. You will not have time in class to work on this, so you will need to use your ROAR blocks and weekends accordingly. You are required to include the following in your skit, at a minimum. 1. Props if you are doing a cooking show have cooking utensils. If you are at a restaurant, make me feel like you are seated in a restaurant. If you are dining in at home, then decorate the table accordingly. 2. Appropriate verbs, verb tenses, and vocabulary that you have drawn from this unit and past units. 3. Each dialogue must be at least 5 minutes long. Use your imagination, and work with the vocabulary that you have learned in this unit & previous units. Be creative! Are you introducing your boy/girlfriend to you parents at a fancy dinner? Are you hosting a cooking show for Americans to learn simple French food? Are you about to go on a blind date and can t decide what to wear? Shake up the dialogue, make it 5 minutes at least, and knock Mlle s socks off! You are to turn in your dialogue before presenting the skit [One dialogue per group].

4 Mon Journal de ce que j ai mangé: Directions: Throughout this unit you will keep a journal of what you ate the day before. You will begin your journal le 12 décembre and the journal will be due le 6 janvier. You must have at least 10 entries. You will keep this journal in your début journal. For each day that you choose to record in the journal, you will need to include at least the following details: [see attached for an example] 1. The date you write the journal [can just be in header] 2. What you did yesterday [at least 3 things you did yesterday] 3. What you ate & drank for breakfast, lunch & dinner & what time you ate. 4. If you stayed at home or went out for dinner. [If you went out, where] 5. One thing you will do tomorrow Each journal entry needs to be a healthy 15 sentence paragraph! Each sentence needs to be French II level! 5 lundi, le 12 décembre Hier, il faisait froid. Hier matin, j ai pris le petit déjeuner à 10 heures. J ai mangé des œufs, du pain et de la confiture. J ai bu une tasse de café et une verre de jus d orange. Après le petit déjeuner, j ai nettoyé mon appartement et j ai rangé ma chambre. Ensuite, je suis allée en ville. J ai fait des achats pour Noël. J ai cherché un cadeau pour ma sœur, et j ai trouvé des cadeaux pour mes parents. Je suis allée au café pour le déjeuner. J ai pris un sandwich au jambon et une bouteille d eau. J ai déjeuné à 13 heures et demi. Hier soir, je ne suis pas restée chez moi. Je n ai rien préparé pour le dîner. J ai dîné avec mon copain au restaurant italien. On a rencontré mes parents à 19 heures pour le dîner. Le resto s appelle Mama Zu s. On a mangé des spaghetti, de la salade et du pain. J ai bu de l eau minérale. Nous sommes rentrés à 21h. J ai fini mes devoirs, et puis j ai écouté la musique. Demain, je vais aller à Louisa. Je vais enseigner les petits à l école. Did I write French II level sentences? Did I write a healthy 15 sentence paragraph? Make sure your journal includes all of the above. Make sure to double check that you are using the right tenses!
