1 (Français plus bas) June 21, 2017 Hello Everyone! We hope you are all enjoying a very nice summer break. Below you will find an overview of the back-to-school days. Key dates for the beginning of the year : Tuesday, August 22 nd Meet & Greet The day before school starts, you will have the opportunity to meet your child s teachers and visit his/her classroom. Parents of Preschool, Pre-K, and K students must bring: (1) an extra set of clothes (with your child s name written on each piece of clothing) in a large Ziploc type bag that will stay in the classroom; (2) a picture of the parents and/or the authorized people who will be picking up your child in the afternoons is encouraged. If you do not have a picture, one can be taken by our staff. All parents: Parents should bring their child s EpiPen, inhalers, etc. with their name and dosage indication, if applicable. 10:30am 11:30am - Los Feliz Main Campus - Pre-K and K (MS & GS) NB: Early Learning Center (ELC) Pre-K students will meet at the ELC at 4:00PM (see below) 12:30pm 1:30 PM - 1 st, 2 nd, & 3 rd grade (CP, CE1 & CE2) 2:30pm 3:30pm - 4 th, and 5 th grade (CM1, & CM2) 4:00pm 5:00pm - Early Learning Center Preschool and Pre-K (PS & MS)

2 Wednesday, August 23rd: First Day of School Note: The school will provide all school supplies, with the exception of backpacks and pencil boxes. Please also provide a water bottle with your child's name on it that he/she can refill on campus (NO GLASS!). 8:50am: class will start as usual for students entering 1 st to 5 th grade. Arrive early, as traffic gets busy on campus in the morning! Do not forget to allow for a 10-minute recess for your child before class begins. 10:30am: the first day will start a little later than usual for students entering Preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten The teacher assistants will be in their classrooms as early as 8:50am and can welcome your child. If you have special recommendations for your child (health, food allergies, etc.), take some time to meet the teacher and our First Aid supervisor. School ends at 3:10pm. Every afternoon, all children must be signed out by someone on their authorized list. Daycare starts at 7:30am and ends at 6:00pm if your child is enrolled (5:30pm at the ELC). Thursday, August 24th: Second Day of School and beyond 8:00am 9:30am - ELC Afterschool Activity Fair 8:50am: School begins for K - 5 th grade. Please arrive early to make sure your children are in the yard by 8:40am so they will not be late for class. All students from K to 5 th grade must be signed out daily. 9:00am: School begins for Pre-K at main campus 9:05am: School begins for Preschool and Pre-K at ELC Preschool and Pre-K parents must plan on arriving early to park and walk their children to the class area. Signing in and out is a State Licensing requirement and is a vital safety precaution in Preschool and Pre-K. The sign-in/out sheet will be in front at each classroom s door at pick up and drop off. 3:10pm: End of school day & main campus Afterschool Activity Fair 2 of 7

3 Week of September 11th - 15th: Back-to-School Nights All back-to-school nights will begin with a short assembly in the library. Please mark your calendar to come meet your child s educators. These meetings should be considered mandatory, as this is the time you learn what to expect in terms of discipline, homework policy, classroom management, and more. The schedule is as follows: Friday, September 8 th : ELC Preschool and Pre-k at 4:00pm Monday, September 11th: Pre-K at 4:00pm Tuesday, September 12th: K at 4:00pm Wednesday, September 13th: 1 st grade at 4:00pm Thursday, September 14th: 2 nd grade at 4:00pm and 5 th grade at 5pm Friday, September 15th: 3 rd grade at 4:00pm and 4 th grade at 5pm Daycare will be offered (for free) during the meetings for LILA students only. *** 3 of 7

4 21 Juin 2017 La rentrée des classes approche! J espère que vous profitez tous des vacances. En attendant de vous revoir, voici les dates à retenir pour cette nouvelle année scolaire. Dates importantes du début d année Mardi 22 août : rencontre des enseignants La veille de la rentrée est la parfaite occasion de venir saluer les enseignants, de découvrir la classe. Pour les parents de maternelle - Petite Section (PS), Moyenne Section (MS) et Grande Section (GS) : (1) nous vous invitons à apporter un set de vêtements de rechange dans un sac de type Ziploc ; (2) profitez-en pour donner une photo des parents et autres personnes autorisées à récupérer votre enfant. Si besoin, nous pouvons prendre cette photo. Tous les parents: Les parents devront amener et confier à l école les dispositifs médicaux de leurs enfants tel que Epipen, inhalateurs, etc. étiqueté avec le nom de l enfant ainsi que la posologie si nécessaire. 10h30 à 11h30 : pour les classes de Moyenne Section (MS) et Grande Section (GS) (Pre-K and K) du campus principal de Los Feliz NB: Ce rdv est seulement pour les élèves de moyenne et grande section du campus de Los Feliz (voir ci-dessous pour les élèves inscrits au Early Learning Center - ELC) 12h30 à 13h30 : pour les classes de CP, CE1, et CE2 (1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd grade) 14h30 à 15h30 : pour les classes de CM1 et CM2 (4 th & 5 th grade) 16h00 à 17h00 : pour les classes de PS et MS à l ELC (Preschool & Pre-K) 4 of 7

5 Mercredi 23 août : rentrée des classes Rappel : nous fournissons tout le matériel scolaire aux élèves sauf les trousses et cartables. Pensez à fournir une gourde en plastique avec le nom de votre enfant. 8h50 : début des cours aux horaires normaux pour les élèves du CP au CM2 Prévoyez une marge de sécurité pour pouvoir vous garer en toute tranquillité. 10h30 : horaires modifiés et accueil prévu pour les élèves de Maternelle (PS, MS et GS) La garderie sera ouverte le matin. 3h10 : fin des cours N oubliez pas de signer le registre de récupération des enfants. La garderie fonctionnera dès le premier jour de 7h30 à 18h00 (17h30 pour l ELC). A partir du jeudi 24 août : 8h00 à 9h30 : forum des activités péri-scolaires à l ELC. 8h50 : début des cours pour les classes de GS à CM2 Les enfants devront être présent dans la cours de l école à 8h40 afin de ne pas manquer le début des cours. N oubliez pas de signer le registre de récupération des enfants. 9h00 : début des cours pour les classes de MS au campus principal de Los Feliz 9h05 : début des cours pour les classes de PS et MS à l ELC Prévoyez une marge de sécurité pour pouvoir vous garer en toute tranquillité car les parents de PS et MS doivent accompagner leurs enfants en classe et venir les récupérer en classe. 3h10 : fin des cours et forum des activités péri-scolaires au campus principal Il y a une obligation légale de signer un registre de dépôt/reprise de votre enfant de PS et MS. Ce registre sera placé devant chaque classe le matin et à la sortie. 5 of 7

6 Du 11 au 15 septembre : réunions de rentrée par classe Ces réunions sont incontournables dans la mesure où vous aurez toutes les informations relatives à la vie de la classe depuis les règles relatives aux devoirs jusqu aux projets de classe Vendredi 8 septembre : PS et MS de l ELC à 16h00 Lundi 11 septembre : MS à 16h00 Mardi 12 septembre : GS à 16h00 Mercredi 13 septembre : CP à 16h00 Jeudi 14 septembre : CE1 à 16h00 & CM2 à 17h00 Vendredi 16 septembre : CE2 à 16h00 & CM1 à 17h00 Un service de garderie sera offert pour les enfants des classes concernées par les réunions. *** 6 of 7
