2 KITOKO philosophie * Toute architecture peut devenir belle tant qu elle a du sens Every piece of architecture has to be «beautiful» and unique. Beautiful, not just from an aesthetic point of view, but because it is integrated harmoniously to its urban, social and economic context ; beautiful as well because of the solutions it brings and finally, beautiful by the quality of its details. Although beauty is a very subjective concept and architecture is a field unknown of certain, each one of us can still experiment and, therefore, appreciate a well-thought architecture. Thus, the search of a meaning is a one of the main factor that leads to beauty. Every piece of architecture can become beautiful since it has a meaning. It is this search for meaning and solutions which directs our vision of architecture. means «beauty» in lingala (Congo s dialect). KitoKo *... 在 林 格 拉 语 ( 刚 果 的 一 种 方 言 ) 中 是 美 丽 的 意 思 signifie «la beauté» en lingala (dialecte du Congo). 每 一 个 建 筑 作 品 都 必 须 是 美 丽 而 独 特 的 建 筑 之 所 以 美, 不 仅 仅 是 从 美 学 的 角 度 而 言 的, 而 且 因 为 它 和 谐 地 融 入 了 城 市 社 会 以 及 经 济 的 大 环 境 之 中 建 筑 之 所 以 美, 还 因 为 它 能 给 人 们 带 来 某 种 解 决 方 案, 美 还 决 定 于 建 筑 细 节 的 品 质 尽 管 美 是 一 种 很 主 观 的 概 念, 建 筑 也 是 一 个 充 满 了 不 确 定 性 的 领 域, 但 是 我 们 每 个 人 仍 然 能 够 去 体 验, 进 而 欣 赏 一 个 经 过 了 认 真 思 考 的 建 筑 作 品 于 是, 对 某 种 意 义 的 探 索 就 成 了 走 向 美 的 主 要 途 径 之 一 当 有 了 一 定 的 意 义 之 后, 每 个 建 筑 作 品 都 可 以 是 美 的 正 是 对 这 种 意 义 的 探 索 和 解 答 在 引 导 着 我 们 的 建 筑 设 计 梦 想 Toute architecture se doit d être «belle» et unique. Belle, pas seulement d un point de vue esthétique, mais car elle s intègre avec harmonie à son contexte urbain, social et économique ; belle également par les solutions qu elle apporte et enfin, belle par la qualité de ses détails. Bien que la beauté soit une notion très subjective et que l architecture soit un domaine mal connu de certains, chacun d entre nous peut tout de même expérimenter et, de ce fait, apprécier une architecture correctement pensée. La recherche de sens est donc un des principaux facteurs qui amène à la beauté. Toute architecture peut devenir belle tant qu elle a du sens. C est cette recherche de sens et de solutions qui dirige notre vision de l architecture.

The studio is also involved in furniture design projects. Our work, even at these different scales, is always done by paying attention to the context, to the budget and above all, to the respect our client s wishes. We focus on communicating and sharing ideas among our partners in order to create projects that go beyond our clients expectations. From the urban planning to the furniture design, every project comes from a strong concept which is developed until its last detail. After working in France and England for different architectural firms, including RTKL (London), STUDIO MILOU (Paris), ATELIER UNZA (Paris), and collaborated in China with ZEIDLER Partnership Architects (Shanghai) and HWCD Associates (Shanghai), KITOKO STUDIO s founders decided to set up their first office in Shanghai to explore the immense potential offered by a new China. With a young and dynamic team, KITOKO STUDIO can bring new solutions to any project. L agence est également amenée à réaliser des projets de design mobilier. Notre travail, même à ces différentes échelles, se fait toujours avec une prise en compte du contexte, du budget et surtout du respect des volontés de nos clients. Nous privilégions la communication et le partage des idées entre nos partenaires afin de concevoir des projets qui vont audelà des attentes de nos clients. De l urbanisme au design mobilier, chaque projet nait d un concept fort qui se développe jusqu au détail. Après avoir travaillé en France et en Angleterre pour différentes agences d architecture, notamment RTKL (Londres), STUDIO MILOU (Paris), ATELIER UNZA (Paris), et collaboré en Chine avec ZEIDLER Partnership Architects (Shanghai) et HWCD Associates (Shanghai), les fondateurs de KITOKO STUDIO ont décidé d installer leurs premiers bureaux à Shanghai pour explorer l immense potentiel qu offre la Chine nouvelle. 8 BINZHOU centre COMMERCIAL * Les contraintes urbaines, LE fort ratio et LA grande densité ont poussé à maximiser l occupation au sol, tout en créant des espaces publics traversants au-dessus d une dalle commerciale. This shopping mall is part of a residential housing complex within a new developing area in the city of Binzhou. The program includes a hotel - service apartment, a shopping mall and some public spaces. The urban regulation, a high ratio and density, led to maximize the ground floor area by creating continuous public spaces (in relation to the street) on top of a commercial slab. Le programme comprend une tour d hôtel et d appartements, des commerces et des espaces publics. Les contraintes urbaines, un fort ratio et une grande densité, ont poussé à maximiser l occupation au sol, tout en créant des espaces publics traversants en relation avec la rue au-dessus d une dalle commerciale. 9 ecole ALGECO * GRâCE AUX jeux de superpositions en décalé des Algeco LES classes bénéficient d un espace extérieur What will be the classroom of the future? How education should evolve to meet new concerns? The school of tomorrow should be green, open, lively and class could be done partly in nature. The project seeks to meet these new objectives. The project is located in a large urban district in a really narrow site. The narrowness of the site has not been seen as a constraint but rather as an opportunity to create an intimate school, protected from the street. Each class is a combination of several Algeco modules. They are grouped in pairs, one above the other. The game of superposition and offsets of the Algeco allows classes to enjoy an outdoor area which is the continuity of the class (outdoor spaces which can be use according to season). Each block of classes is covered with a composite material reminding the shape of Lego or with a colorful metal mesh overgrown by vegetation. Comment l enseignement doit-il évoluer pour répondre aux nouvelles préoccupations? L école de demain sera verte, ouverte, vivante et l enseignement pourra se faire en partie dans la nature. Le projet tente de répondre à ces nouveaux objectifs. C est dans un quartier à forte urbanité dans un site aux dimensions étroites que le projet s implante. L étroitesse du site n a pas été vue comme une contrainte mais plutôt comme une opportunité de créer une école intimiste, protégée de la rue. Chaque classe est la combinaison de plusieurs modules Algeco. Elles sont regroupées deux par deux, l une au-dessus de l autre. Les jeux de superpositions en décalé des Algeco permettent aux classes de bénéficier d un espace extérieur qui est la continuité de la classe (classe de plein air, espace appropriable en fonction des saisons). Chaque plot de classes est habillé soit par une enveloppe composite rappelant la forme des «Lego», soit par une résille colorée envahie par la végétation. 10 bibliotheque de Daegu Gosan * La promenade végétale et la promenade minérale s oppose par leur matérialité, créé différents parcours et différentes approches. The new Daegu Gosan public library claims the notion of route. It emphasizes on the spatial continuity of the adjacent urban park through a landscaped path along the park. It leads the future users gently at the heart of the central vegetal atrium of the library, which creates a small public square. This whole route is the vegetal promenade. The city also leaves its mark on the library through an urban mineral promenade. It starts with the axis of the walkway facing the building which then enters the volume by a much more direct access taking visitors to the reading rooms of the second level, and to the more independent functions of the third level (such as the multipurpose room, cafeteria and classrooms). On the third level, the urban promenade takes the visitors to a mineral terrace-foyer which serves as an outdoor reception space before a conference, an exhibition or an important event in the multipurpose room. The vegetal promenade and the urban mineral promenade are opposite by their materials, and by the creation of different paths and different approaches, but eventually meet each other in the heart of the library. The Internal programming of the project is simple and intuitive. The more we go up, the more the spaces become independent and private. Users circulate mainly around the central vegetal atrium through a series of stairs. While the exterior skin glass of the building is open towards the city and invites people to culture, its vegetal interior skin is much more intimate and protective, giving visitors the feeling of being in a green cocoon. The architecture of the library does not conflict with the park, the neighborhood and the city. Elle poursuit la continuité spatiale du parc urbain qui lui est adjacent, grâce à un cheminement paysager qui traverse le parc et emmène doucement les futurs lecteurs au cœur de l atrium central végétal de la bibliothèque, créant une petite place public traversante. C est la promenade végétale. La ville marque aussi de son empreinte la bibliothèque par le biais d une promenade urbaine minérale. Celle ci commence par le biais de l axe du passage piéton faisant face au bâtiment et s introduit dans le volume par un accès beaucoup plus direct, qui emmène les visiteurs aux salles de lecture du second niveau, et aux fonctions plus indépendantes du projet du troisième niveau tel que la salle multifonction, la cafeteria et les salles de classe. A ce même troisième niveau, la promenade urbaine minérale amène les visiteurs sur la terrasse foyer, qui fait office de lieu de réception extérieur avant la tenu d une conférence, d une exposition ou d un événement important dans la salle multifonction. La promenade végétale et la promenade urbaine minérale s oppose par leur matérialité, créé différents parcours et différentes approches, mais finalement se rejoignent au cœur de la librairie. La programmation intérieure du projet est simple et intuitive. Plus on monte dans les niveaux, plus les espaces deviennent indépendant et privatif. Les usagers circulent principalement autour de l atrium central végétal grâce à une série d escaliers. Alors que la peau extérieur en verre du bâtiment est ouverte sur la ville et invite les habitants à la culture, sa peau intérieure vegetale est beaucoup plus intimiste et protectrice donnant le sentiment aux visiteurs d être dans un cocon végétal. 10/58 Daegu Metropolitan City Suseong-gu Office Daegu, Gosan, Korea 韩 国 m² 2012 Concours 竞 争 L architecture de la bibliothèque ne vient pas en opposition avec le parc, le quartier et la ville, elle les complète et affirme le caractère du lieu, faisant de cet équipement un nouveau lieu de culture et de sociabilisassions au quotidien.

11 BUREAU DE VENTE SANMEN * Le toit du bâtiment fait office d observatoire public en continuité avec le parc et offre une vue à 360 sur le site The building is dedicated to promote the sale of English style house and apartment in a new development. The project is located on the edge of a public park. Later, it will become the clubhouse of the residential development and a public building with different activities. Rather than reproducing a copy of English architecture, the project seeks to fit in its vegetal context, by using natural materials such as wood and stone. The interior space is totally flexible because of a beam-column system. So, all levels are free and can be transformed depending of the events. The shape of the building is in response to the smoothness of the surrounding. Il vient s inscrire à la limite d un parc public. Par la suite, il deviendra en partie le club house et un bâtiment public à multiple usages. Plutôt que de reproduire une architecture pastiche anglaise, le projet tente de s inscrire et de se fondre au mieux dans son contexte végétal, par l utilisation de matériau naturel comme le bois et la pierre. Il offre une liberté fonctionnelle intérieure grâce à un système poteau poutre. Tous les plateaux sont donc libres et aménageables en fonction des évènements. La forme du bâtiment vient en réponse à la douceur du site. Le toit du bâtiment fait également office d observatoire public en continuité avec le parc et offre une vue à 360 sur le site. 12 extension/rénovation maison eelit is for their old days that the owners of this house located in the suburbs of Caen decided to * depuis la rue, La toiture se lit d un seul trait, et depuis le jardin elle révèle la complexité du volume et qui se plisse au gré des fonctions tel un origami japonais build an extension to match their new way of life. Their current house has 119sqm on 3 floors (a basement used as a garage, the ground floor as living spaces and the first floor is dedicated to bedrooms) on a land of 873sqm. The extension should be easy to access and allow a disabled person to move easily inside the space in case one day that one of the two owners uses a wheelchair. The project was therefore to create an extension on the north-western part of the existing home. The new volume was positioned in this part of the property in order to keep up the integrity of the garden that develops around the house. Moreover, this portion of the garden suffers less from the shadow of the existing house during the day. The extension includes a bedroom, a dressing room, a bathroom and an extra office space. It is located between the existing house and the western property boundary. It is recessed compared to the existing house along the retaining wall of the garden and turns around to be attached to the house. This position gives it some mystery. It faces the garage access and gives the feeling of an observatory perched on its base. View from the street, the extension reveals a part of the geometry of its volume without totally revealing it. The random position of the windows breaks the monotony of this black massive shape and makes it look less heavy. From the garden the new volume has a small private mineral outdoor patio on which the bedroom and bathroom can be totally opened. The patio plays with transparency of the louvers and the density of the materials. The extension can be read as the composition of two small huts around this new private outdoor space. From the street, the roof looks like one simple element but it reveals the complex geometry of its shape from the garden, like the folding of a Japanese origami. The extension is an intimate volume open on its garden. C est en prévision de leurs vieux jours que les propriétaires de ce pavillon situé dans un lotissement en périphérie de Caen ont décidé de construire une extension qui répondra à leurs nouvelles exigences de vie. La maison actuelle a une surface habitable de 119m² et se développe sur 3 niveaux (le sous-sol faisant office de garage, le rez-de-chaussée servant d espace de vie et le 1er étage est dédié aux chambres) sur un terrain de 873m². L extension devra être facile d accès et permettre le déplacement d une personne à mobilité réduite dans l éventualité où l un des deux propriétaires serait amené à se déplacer en fauteuil roulant. Le projet a donc consisté à créer une extension sur la partie nord-ouest de la maison existante. Le nouveau volume a été positionné dans cette partie de la parcelle afin de conserver au maximum l intégrité du jardin qui se développe autour de la maison. De plus, cette partie du terrain subit au minimum l ombrage de la maison existante tout au long de la journée. L extension comprend une chambre, un dressing, une salle de bain et un bureau d appoint. Elle est située entre la maison existante et la limite de propriété ouest. Elle se positionne en recul par rapport à la maison existante le long du mur de soutènement et se retourne le long de celui-ci pour venir s accrocher à la maison. Cette position lui attribue un certain mystère. Elle fait face à la descente du garage et donne le sentiment d un observatoire perché sur son socle. Vue depuis la rue, l extension révèle une partie de la géométrie de son volume sans pour autant se dévoiler totalement. Les fenêtres aléatoirement placées viennent rompre et alléger la monotonie de cette masse noire. Depuis le jardin, le nouveau volume laisse transparaitre un petit patio extérieur minéral privatif sur lequel peuvent s ouvrir la chambre et la salle de bain. Le patio joue sur la transparence des brises vue et le changement de densité des matériaux. 13 PROJET MIXTE CHANGSHA * Les pixels grimpent le long de la façade jouant sur les différentes couleurs et retraits The program for this new development in Changsha combines a shopping street, a 200m high tower (office, hotel, luxury apartments) and 2 residential towers. The site is located near 2 main roads but doesn t have a direct access. It is a difficult location because we don t see this site from these streets. To be different from the surroundings that are a bit old and be seen from far away, we must show that this development is at the cutting edge of modernity. The idea of pixel has come from this conclusion. Thanks to this element we can play on volumes, facades and landscape... and create unusual shapes that will attract visitors. The main tower will be the landmark of the project and, with its special language and its height, will also become a landmark in the city. The pixels climb up along the facade with different colors and set backs. The more they go up, the more flat and pure is the facade. The twin towers of apartments take up the language of the main tower with variations on the facade created by the balconies. The landscape serves as signage to lead people from the main street to the site. Le site est situé près de 2 rues principales mais n a pas d accès direct. Il s agit d un emplacement difficile car le site n est pas visible depuis les rues. Les environs sont peu attractifs et assez vieux, donc pour se démarquer le projet devait montrer qu il est à la pointe de la modernité. L idée des «pixels» vient donc de cette conclusion. Grace à ces éléments, nous pouvons jouer sur les volumes, les façades et le traitement paysager et créer des formes particulières qui attireront les visiteurs. Privé 个 人 Changsha, China 长 沙, 中 国 m² La tour principale sera l élément phare du projet et, avec son langage particulier et sa hauteur, elle deviendra aussi l élément phare dans la ville. Les pixels grimpent le long de la façade jouant avec différentes couleurs et retraits. Les tours jumelles d appartements reprennent le langage de la tour principale avec des variations sur la façade créées par les balcons. Le traitement paysager joue le rôle de signalétique qui amène les visiteurs depuis la rue 2010 principale jusqu au site. 14 CENTRE COMMUNAUTAIRE CHENJIA * Le grand toit unificateur donne l impression d un espace plus grand englobant à la fois le bâtiment et une partie du jardin This project is a small program (comprising meeting rooms, restaurant, a small exhibition room ) on a quite big land on Chongming island (Shanghai). The concept was to create a large unifying roof under which all the functions required by the program have been installed. Each function is represented by a simple box spread on the site. According to the size of the function, the volume of the box extends more or less from the roof. Between each box, the facade encompassing all these functions is completely glazed to give the impression of being outside. The landscape and the building are treated with the same language with irregular stripes in different directions. Each stripe of land is going up or down creating angles which makes a hilly aspect. The roof becomes an elevated part of the landscape using the same angled shape. The voids created in the middle part of the roof allow extending the garden inside the building. The roof and the boxes are opposed by their volume. The angled roof has a complicated shape and seems to float above the site whereas the boxes are very pure and simple. The use of different materials emphasizes this opposition. The roof is in Corten steel whereas the boxes use stone to give them a strong and solid aspect. This big unifying roof gives the impression of a more spacious building encompassing the building and the garden. Le concept a été de créer un grand toit unificateur abritant toutes les fonctions demandées dans le programme. Chacune d elles est représentée par de simples «boites» reparties sur le site. Selon la taille de la fonction, le volume de chaque boite s étend plus ou moins en dehors de la toiture. La façade englobant toutes ces «boites», est complétement vitrée pour donner l impression d être à l extérieur. Le paysagisme et le bâtiment ont été traités de la même manière avec des bandes irrégulières de différentes directions. Chaque bande monte ou descend ce qui créé des angles donnant du relief au site. Le toit devient une partie surélevée du paysage utilisant les mêmes formes anguleuses. Le retrait de la partie centrale de la toiture a permis d étendre le jardin à l intérieur du bâtiment. La toiture et les boites s opposent par leur volumétrie. La toiture anguleuse a une forme complexe qui semble flotter sur le site, alors que les boites sont des volumes purs et simples. L utilisation de différents matériaux renforce cette opposition. 15 AIRE POUR GENS DU VOYAGE *Le projet vise à une meilleure intégration des gens du voyage par la création d un projet adapté à leurs besoins et intégré à l environnement The operation aims to create 14 family houses for traverlers families (gypsies). They always have lived in a caravan but are quite seduced by the idea of having their own room and bathroom in addition to their caravan. Indeed, even if they are now settled, travelers do not want to get rid of their caravan, which is a fundamental element of their identity. The idea of this project is to provide each family with a specific habitat that suits to their lifestyle. It will consist of the basic elements of comfort and will integrate the caravan. Each family lot will be composed of a suitable habitat but also sufficient space to enable life on the outside. The development of the whole area has to allow families privacy and in the same time allowing them to meet each others when they want to. In this sense, a common building will be created to allow residents of the area to gather together. Ils ont toujours vécu dans leurs caravanes mais sont tout à fait séduit par l idée de posséder leur «propre» salle de bain et une chambre en complément de leur caravane. En effet, mêmes sédentaires, les gens du voyage ne veulent pas s en séparer car elle est un élément fondamental de leur identité. L idée de ce projet est de fournir à chaque famille avec un habitat spécifique adapté à leur mode de vie. Chaque habitat disposera du confort de base et permettra d intégrer une caravane. Chacune des parcelles sera composée d un habitat convenable, mais aussi d un espace suffisant pour permettre la vie à l extérieur. Le développement du terrain permettra de maintenir la vie privée des familles tout en leur laissant la liberté de se rencontrer quand ils le veulent. En ce sens, un bâtiment commun sera créé pour permettre aux résidents de se réunir. 16 EXTENSION DE MAISON * L extension est perçue comme un volume MASSIF à multiples facettes contrastant avec la légereté du BARDage en bois The owners of this house wished to build an extension that can fit to their new expectation. This is a family house in which they lived for several years. After few years these occupants have changed their way of living and the way they were using the different rooms of the house. One of the important points of this project is the accessibility of elderly people who may need to use a wheelchair one day. A lot of attention has been paid to this point to allow easy access and circulation in the house. The extension includes a new living space that extends the current living room (overlooking the garden and terrace), and a bedroom with a bathroom suitable for disabled people. The facades and the upper parts (roof) are in the same material to read the building as one homogenous volume and each diagonal facade shatters the perception of the entire volume. C est une demeure familiale dans laquelle ils résident depuis plusieurs années. Avec le temps ses occupants ont modifié leur rythme de vies et les usages des différentes pièces. L un des points important de ce projet est l accessibilité des personnes âgées qui peuvent être amenés à circuler un jour en fauteuil roulant. Une grande attention a donc été portée sur ce point afin de permettre une facilité d accès et de circulation dans la maison. L extension comporte un nouvel espace de séjour qui prolonge le salon actuel (donnant sur le jardin et la terrasse), et une chambre avec une salle d eau encore une fois adaptée à une personne a mobilité réduite. Les façades et les parties hautes (le toit) sont dans le même matériau afin de lire l ensemble comme un volume continu et chaque diagonale des façades vient briser la perception que l on a de l ensemble du volume. 17 RUE PIETONNE DE HONGMEI * faciliter l accès aux piétons, redéfinir l entrée des voitures et marquer clairement la nouvelle entrée Hongmei Pedestrian Street is located in Shanghai; the street is a lively popular social and commercial area where friends and families can enjoy the abundant food and beverage stores. Despite the popularity of the area its entrance is not clearly defined it is heavily obstructed from the main street. In addition to the problem regarding the entrance; pedestrians and cars (which have to drive to the designated parking spaces) intersect each other without any order - thereby creating numerous circulation and safety problems. For both proposed options the aim was to redefine an access for pedestrians, a separate access for cars, and to have the new entrance unobstructed and clearly visible. In both proposals, a tower will be erected displaying advertisements for the restaurants and bars in the area and will serve to create a landmark that can be seen from far. At the ground level a banner forms a gate to mark the limit between the Main Street and Hongmei Pedestrian Street. Finally, to make the area more welcoming and dynamic, special functions and features have been added such as a waiting area, a performing stage, and a large LED screen. The first option is a modern organic design which uses strong materials (such as metal mesh) to attract visitors onto the site. This proposal splits with the existing site. The second option is inspired by the existing elements on the site such as wood and vegetation. This proposal is the continuity of the existing site. Malgré la renommée du lieu, son entrée n est pas clairement définie. Les piétons et les automobiles (qui doivent accéder aux parkings) se croisent sans hiérarchie créant divers problèmes de circulation et de sécurité pour les usagers. De plus, l entrée actuelle du site est presque invisible depuis la rue principale, ce qui la rend moins attractive. Pour les deux options proposées, le but a été de redéfinir un accès pour les piétons, un accès pour les voitures et de marquer clairement la nouvelle entrée. Dans les deux propositions, une tour présentant les publicités des restaurants et des bars créé une icône qui peut être perçue de loin. Au niveau piéton, une bannière forme une «arche» pour marquer la limite entre la rue principale et la rue piétonne de Hongmei. Enfin, pour rendre la zone plus dynamique et accueillante, des éléments et des fonctions supplémentaires ont été ajoutés comme un espace d attente, un podium pour les évènements, un écran LED La première option est un design organique moderne qui utilise un matériau fort (résille métallique) pour attirer les visiteurs sur le site. The project is characterized by an approach and a significant response of the building architecture according to its site. Located in the same time in the middle of the downtown area and in limit of commune, the site is also near a protected green zone and is on the site of former industrials warehouses. The context of these three elements will be reflected in the architectural image of the cultural centre. 19 JIANDE HOLIDAY INN HOTEL * La redéfinition des façades, associée à l emploi de matériaux naturels permettent de retrouver une volumétrie plus simple en adéquation avec le site Kitoko Studio was commissioned to redesign the facade of a hotel near the site of One Thousand Islands close to Hangzhou. The office was contacted after the approval of the planning permission. The work was redefine an architecture appropriate to its site and surrounding through the use of natural materials such as wood shutters for rooms and stone for the base buildings. The east building already existed, it was necessary to give the same architectural language to the new one. In addition to the facade design, a redefinition of the main entrance was necessary with the addition of a canopy. The canopy entrance has also helped to link the existing building with the new construction. With the re-alignment of the new building podium, we were able to create a terrace along the facade. This terrace offers a panoramic view to the river. Le travail a donc consisté à redéfinir une architecture en adéquation avec son site par l utilisation de matériaux naturels tel le bois pour les volets des chambres et la pierre pour la base des bâtiments. Le bâtiment Est existant déjà, il a fallu accorder l architecture du nouveau bâtiment avec celle-ci. En plus du travail de façade, une redéfinition de l entrée principale a été nécessaire avec l ajout d une canopée. Celle-ci a également permis de relier le bâtiment existant à la nouvelle construction. Grâce à un réalignement du podium du nouveau bâtiment, nous avons pu créer une terrasse filante le long de la façade. La terrasse offre une vue panoramique sur la rivière. 20 RAINBOW CITY * Le bâtiment lui-même est complétement intégré au paysage et devient une partie de celui-ci This project is the development of the headquarters for a media company in Shanghai. The overall concept was based on the idea of the neuron to represent innovation, information, and interconnectivity. This building is located at the corner of the 2 important roads and represents the main node in the landscape and, so acts as an important point in the neural network. It is the center for the generation and spreading of new ideas and it acts as a gathering point for creative and business people to exchange their innovations. Because Shanghai is composed almost entirely of flat landscape, it was important to re-create an interesting outdoor experience. The neural landscape is inverted from the rest of the site, so the building becomes a vertical extension of the landscape. By extruding the shape and gradually pulling back the floor plates, terraces have been created to provide exterior spaces for the workers. As for the master plan, a focal point in the conception was the eco-friendly issues. This building is conceived to limit the energy expenses and uses natural materials. The building itself is completely integrated into the landscape and becomes a part of it. Il est le centre de la naissance et de la diffusion des nouvelles idées et agit comme un point de rencontre pour les créatifs et les commerciaux afin qu ils puissent partager leur innovations. Parce que Shanghai est presque uniquement composé de paysages plats, il paraissait important de recréer un espace extérieur intéressant. Ainsi, le paysage «neuronal» a été inversé par rapport au reste du site, pour que le bâtiment devienne une extension verticale du paysage. Et avec sa forme particulière, il peut devenir le bâtiment icone de la compagnie.

The project of the villa is the total renovation of the building. The house was inhabited by many successive owners and suffered the damages and effects of time. The walls are crumbling in some places the painting is peeling and the interior elements are no longer following the current standards. The villa doesn t match the taste of its new owner and therefore needed a renovation. The project consists of the inner spatial reorganization of the villa and of the elevation of the existing single sloped roof to replace it with a double pitched roof. This new form of roofing was needed and more convenient because of the heavy rain during the rainy season. It will also allow an easier collection of rainwater for its reuse. In addition to this big change, all the facades have been modified with the creation of large windows to bring more light into the reception areas and give a contemporary touch to the villa. The living room has a direct view towards the garden and continues on the outside by a covered terrace which extends over a wooden pergola. The pergola geometry reminds the new pitched roof. The reception rooms (living room and dining room) are built around a central core that houses the children s playroom and toilets around which the circulation is organized. To maintain the privacy of the parents, their room was positioned in the opposite side of the children and guests rooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and the master bedroom also has a large dressing room. La demeure a été habitée par de nombreux propriétaires successifs et a subi les dommages et les effets du temps. Les murs s effritent à certains endroits, la peinture s écaille et les installations intérieures ne sont plus aux normes actuelles. La villa n est pas au gout de son nouveau propriétaire et nécessitait donc un remaniement. Le projet a consisté à la réorganisation spatiale intérieure de la villa ainsi qu à la surélévation de la toiture monopente existante afin de la remplacer par une toiture double pente. Cette nouvelle forme de toiture s avère nécessaire et plus pratique à cause des fortes averses durant la saison des pluies. Elle permettra également la récupération plus facile des eaux pour leur réutilisation ultérieure. En plus de ce grand changement, l ensemble des façades a été modifié grâce à la création de grandes ouvertures afin d apporter plus de lumière aux espaces de réception et donner une touche contemporaine à la villa. Le salon a une vue directe sur le jardin et se poursuit à l extérieure par une terrasse couverte qui se prolonge sur une pergola en bois. La géométrie de celle-ci rappelle celle de la nouvelle toiture. Les espaces de réception (salon et salle à manger) s articulent autour d un noyau central qui abrite l espace de jeux des enfants et des toilettes autour duquel toute la circulation s organise. The new volume, set next to the house, is located at the property limit and has a private entrance from the street. The entire extension is covered with wooden panels respecting the colors of the existing house. The pitched roof defines the office volume and also creates a protective pergola at the entrance of the house. The extension enjoys a double orientation, with its north facade opened to the street. The interior lower part, in the office space, is occupied with some shelves and, on the exterior, small bushes create a setback from the office to preserve from the pedestrian to see inside. The south side of the building is fully opened with glass panels to let the light in. Wooden louvers placed outside the glass stop the view and preserve the privacy of the garden and the office. These vertical elements make the extension looks slender and also give a rhythm to the facade. The workspace and meeting room are separated by an outdoor patio making the overall volume look lighter. L ensemble de l extension est revêtu d un bardage bois clair qui respecte les tons de la maison existante. Sa toiture double pente plissée définit à la fois le volume du bureau et créé également une pergola protectrice à l entrée de la maison. L extension est doublement orientée avec une façade nord ouverte sur la rue dont la partie intérieure, côté bureau, abrite des rangements tout le long. A l extérieur, de petits buissons permettent de garantir un recul nécessaire vis-à-vis des piétons. La face sud est entièrement ouverte avec des pans de verre qui laissent passer la lumière. The use of this kind of patterns in architecture can be very intricate, creating a unique effect as light comes through the paper to the interior, casting interesting shadows. Starting with a flat sheet of paper, the form folds to encase the basic massing of the planning hall and the convention center. The exterior surface is white while the interior is red. The exhibition halls are organized as a series of galleries rotating around a central atrium. Each hall steps up slightly to create a continuous experience. La façade du bâtiment est telle une feuille de papier dont la forme des plis vient envelopper les volumes du musée de l urbanisme et du centre des congrès. La surface extérieure est blanche tandis que l intérieur est rouge. Les salles d exposition sont organisées comme une série de galeries tournant autour d un atrium central. Chaque salle est légèrement surélevée par rapport à la précédente afin de créer une ascension continue. Une série de rampes et d escaliers connectent les salles les unes aux autres et permettent des pauses visuelles entre les expositions sur l atrium. 26 RAINBOW CITY * une promenade verte coule et relie les îlots entre eux, faisant office de trait d union entre les vides et les masses bâties. The project is located in Shanghai and spread on 5 lots where there must be offices dedicated to research, an hotel and the headquarter of a media company. As an interactive media company, the client s company relies on innovation, information, and interconnectivity. For a company to succeed it must be like a computer network or human brain rapidly sharing and spreading information. To facilitate the spreading of information, there must be a system of focal points or nodes, where information can gather and then be sent off to another node. That s where the concept of neurone came from. The landscape is composed of several nodes, one at the center of each plot. These are the gathering points between the buildings, places for interaction and communication. The landscape serves to link all of these nodes together, creating a continuous strip of green running through the entire site, giving the occupants a path to stroll on and linking the various buildings. The master plan seeks to be environmentally friendly by limiting all vehicle circulation to the underground, maximizing green space. En tant que société de médias interactifs, l entreprise du client repose sur l innovation, l information et l inter connectivité. Pour qu une entreprise réussisse, elle doit être comme un réseau informatique ou un cerveau humain partageant et diffusant rapidement l information. Afin de faciliter la diffusion de l information, il doit y avoir un système de points focaux ou de nœuds où les informations peuvent être réunies et ensuite envoyées vers un autre nœud. C est donc de là que vient le concept des neurones. Le paysage est donc composé de plusieurs nœuds, un au centre de chaque parcelle. Ce sont des points de rassemblement entre les bâtiments, les lieux d interaction et de communication. Le paysage sert à relier tous ces nœuds ensemble grâce à une bande verte continue qui traverse l ensemble du site, donnant aux occupants un chemin de promenade et reliant les différents bâtiments. 26/58 Privé 个 人 Shanghai, China 中 国, 上 海 m² 2010 Zeidler Concours 竞 争 Le plan urbain se veut respectueux de l environnement en limitant la circulation des véhicules en sous-sol, et en maximisant les espaces verts. Les bâtiments viennent remplir les espaces vides du paysage et non l inverse.

27 PROJET MIXTE BABAO * La création d une bande verte qui commence dans le parc et passe à travers le reste du site a permis de relier la station de métro au parc par un maillage végétal This project is located in the new district of Hangzhou called Babao. The intervention focuses on the planning of a mixed urban project including residential towers, a hotel, office towers, retail area and urban park, all these distributed over two lots cut by a road and near a future subway station. Half of one of the lot is not buildable due to the underground path for the subway. This area has been automatically used for the urban park which becomes an important and structuring element of the project. The creation of a green stripe that starts in the park and passes through the rest of the site allowed us to connect the metro station to the park with a vegetal mesh. The rest of the program was divided between the two lots, residential areas and hotels on the west site in connection with the garden, offices and shops in the east side which is more urban. L intervention porte sur la planification d un projet urbain mixte comprenant des tours de résidentiel, un hôtel, des tours de bureaux, du commerce et un parc urbain, le tout reparti sur deux sites coupés par une route et à proximité d une future station de métro. La moitié de l un des terrains n est pas constructible dû au passage souterrain de la ligne de métro. Cet espace a donc été automatiquement utilisé pour le parc urbain qui devient un élément important et structurant du projet. La création d une bande verte qui commence dans le parc et passe à travers le reste du site a permis de relier la station de métro au parc par un maillage végétal. Le reste du programme a été reparti entre les deux terrains, les zones d habitations et hôtelières sur le site ouest en relation avec le jardin, les bureaux et les commerces dans la partie est qui est plus urbaine. 28 marseille plan d aou * Les nouvelles interventions redonnent une identité au plateau du Plan D Aou. Elles insérent et en créent du lien entre les différents tissus urbain existants. Plan d Aou is one of the northern districts called «sensitive area» of Marseille to which it is connected by the Saint-Antoine train station and 3 bus lines. The district has been built in the 70 s on a 10ha land in the 15th district of Marseille. Plan d Aou is located on a site with a beautiful view on the rest of the city. Because of its location, the district is difficult to access. This is a somewhat eccentric area that deserves to be highlighted to take advantage of this location. The city of Marseille wants to continue the dynamic of the urban renewal started long time ago in order to enhance the quality of life in this district as part of a large urban renewal. The main goals of the interventions are to integrate activities and services inside the district, to create accommodations suitable for an aging population, to enhance public spaces and to create a sustainable and adaptable architecture. The different stages of constructions and demolitions created a juxtaposition of typologies that have not been thought as a whole. This has created a non-homogeneous neighborhood and lack of consistency. The new interventions will have the sensitive goal to give back an identity to Plan d Aou while being integrated in its environment and creating a link with the existing urban fabric. This new identity will be given by the creation of various housing typologies to meet the needs of residents. Another mission will consist in the opening of the district on its surroundings in order to connect it to the nearest districts and equipment. Le quartier a été bâti au début des années 1970 sur un plateau de 10 hectares dans le 15ème arrondissement de Marseille. Le plan d Aou est situé sur un site qui offre un point de vue remarquable, voire envié, sur la rade marseillaise. Grâce ou à cause de cela, il a été conçu comme une enclave, un espace résidentiel coupé du tissu urbain environnant. C est donc un quartier un peu excentré qui mérite d être mis en valeur pour pallier cette localisation. La ville de Marseille souhaite poursuivre la dynamique de renouvellement urbain entreprise depuis de nombreuses années afin d améliorer la qualité de vie de ce quartier dans le cadre d une grande opération urbaine. Les grandes lignes de l intervention sont d intégrer des activités et des services au sein du quartier, de créer des habitats adaptés au vieillissement de la population, de valoriser les espaces publiques et de proposer une architecture durable et adaptable. 28/58 Europan 个 人 Marseille, France 法 国 马 赛 10 ha 2013 Concours 竞 争 Les constructions et démolitions successives ont créé une juxtaposition de typologies qui n ont pas été réfléchies comme un ensemble. Ceci a donc créé un quartier non homogène et déséquilibré qui manque de cohérence urbaine. Les nouvelles interventions auront donc pour objectif délicat de redonner une identité au plateau du Plan D Aou tout en s insérant et en créant du lien entre les différents tissus urbain existants. Cette nouvelle identité sera déterminée par la création de diverses typologies de logement afin de répondre aux besoins des habitants.

29 ILOT BADEL ZAGREB * le projet vient casser l alignement urbain monotone par la création d artères piétonnes et de places publiques à l intérieur de l îlot The Badel Block is the only area in Zagreb which has not been fully developed and doesn t have a clear urban structure and purpose. The block is situated nearby the Kvaternikov Square, on the eastern edge of Zagreb histo rical center. The total block area is about 3 hectares, with the competition area encompassing about 2 hectares. The aim of the com petition was to examine the possibilities and capacities of this block according to the regulations concerning the historical heritage and existing volumes. Our urban proposal for this industrial block tries to give a new identity and to revitalize this area of the city through a more coherent mixed use program. Instead of building along the site boundary, the project breaks this continuous street alignment by creating some new pedestrian paths and plaza inside the block. These pedestrian paths invite people from Zagreb to discover the block in a different way and give more visibility and an easy access to the historical building in the center of the site. The project is organized around the historical building transformed as a cultural center which has a new modern extension. Each new building of our proposal tries to establish a relation with its close surrounding. The covered market (with its canopy) is facing the old one and they are both linked by a pedestrian bridge. The residential building takes up the volumes of the existing residential block of the site, and the hotel with its rooftop garden is standing along the main road. On the west part of the site a student residence is facing the new cultural building extension and a school on the other side of the street. With this new program, the block attempts to become a lively public space while keeping some privacy for its resident. Il ne possède de ce fait aucune structure urbaine. La surface de l ensemble de l îlot est de 3 hectares, dont 2 hectares pour le site de la nouvelle intervention. Le but de la compétition a été de faire ressortir le potentiel urbain de l ilot, tout en tenant compte des règles urbaines concernant le patrimoine historique et les gabarits existants. Notre proposition urbaine pour cet ancien îlot industriel tente de donner une nouvelle identité et de revitaliser cette partie de la ville par le biais d un programme mixte plus cohérent. Au lieu de construire en limite de parcelle, le projet vient casser cet alignement urbain monotone par la création d artères piétonnes et de places publiques à l intérieur de l îlot. Ces nouveaux accès ouvrent le site, invitent les passants à la découverte et donnent une meilleure visibilité à l ancienne distillerie au centre du terrain. Le projet s organise autour de cet édifice historique transformé en un espace culturel auquel est venu se greffer une nouvelle extension contemporaine. Chacun des nouveaux bâtiments du programme tentent de créer d étroites relations avec les ouvrages environnant. Le nouveau marché couvert (avec sa canopée) fait face à l ancien marché et ils sont tous les deux connectés par une passerelle piétonne. L immeuble de logement reprend le gabarit de ceux existants et l hôtel avec son jardin suspendu borde l une des rues principales. Dans la partie ouest du terrain, il y a également une résidence étudiante qui fait face à l espace culturel et à une école de l autre coté de la rue. Avec cette nouvelle programmation, l ilot Badel tend à devenir un espace public vivant tout en conservant une certaine intimité pour ces futurs résidents. 29/58

30 PORT D HELSINKI * donner au port une image dynamique, moderne, et aussi LE transformer en une attraction pour les touristes et les habitants afin de le rendre vivant et plus agréable The program of this competition was to propose a new urban plan for the Helsinki harbor which is currently only a place of transit and transportation. The traffic is limited to the closed area of the terminals which do not allow seeing the seafront view. So, the intentions were to give the harbor a dynamic and modern image and also to transform it into an attraction for tourists and inhabitants in order to make it lively and pleasant. Different atmospheres and new activities were added all along the harbor. In addition to the existing market, we can find floating restaurants, a sport area (including a floating pool, tennis, basketball and badminton fields and a skate park), a cultural area (including a museum and an art garden, and a floating theater), a family entertainment area (with a park for kids and areas for picnic) and a relaxation area (with spa, massage salon). All these new functions create a place that can be used by different categories of visitors. In order to reinforce this idea to give the most part of the harbor to visitors, pedestrians and bicycles have now their independent network allowing them to walk safely while enjoying the views on the surroundings. The missing vegetation has been treated with the addition of a grid of trees and green platforms from the harbor to the city center which generates a more pleasant space. The angular shapes of the new elements give a strong and new image to the harbor. The main material (corten steel) contrasts with the summer environment (green) and the winter environment (white) which give the impression that the harbor evolves according to the seasons. Les intentions ont donc été de donner au port une image dynamique et moderne et aussi de transformer le port en une attraction pour les touristes et les habitants afin de le rendre vivant et agréable. Des atmosphères différentes et de nouvelles activités ont été ajoutées tout le long du port. En plus du marché existant, on trouve par exemple des restaurants flottants, une zone sportive (incluant une piscine flottante, des terrains de tennis, basket, badmington et un skate parc), une zone culturelle (incluant un musée et son jardin d art et un théâtre flottant), une zone de loisirs familiale (avec un parc pour enfant et des aires de pique-nique) et enfin une zone de relaxation (avec spa, salons de massage). Toutes ces nouvelles fonctions génèrent un lieu pouvant être utilisé par différentes catégories de visiteurs. Pour renforcer cette idée de redonner la majeure partie du port aux visiteurs, les piétons et vélos ont leur réseau indépendant qui leur permet de se promener en sécurité tout en profitant des vues sur tous les alentours. Le manque de végétation a été traité grâce à l ajout d une grille végétale et de plateformes vertes allant du port au centre-ville générant des espaces plus agréables. Les formes anguleuses des nouveaux éléments donnent au port une image forte et nouvelle. Le matériau principal (acier corten) contraste avec l environnement été (vert) comme hiver (blanc) donnant l impression que le lieu évolue selon les saisons. Le projet vient ainsi marquer le lieu de l empreinte du présent par des interventions ponctuelles tout en conservant valeurs historico-culturelles de la ville.

34 PARC 9-3 YANGPU * La création d un chemin continu, en forme de «8», a permis de relier le parc et la zone commerciale de manière naturelle et continue The project is located on the north of Shanghai in a commercial area. The local government worried about the lack of green land in the district has decided to emphasis on this point by the creation of a green belt along the river. They also allowed some developers to use the basement for different kind of new activities. The project occupies a part of this green belt. The aim was to create an urban park on the street level as well as a commercial area and some parking spaces in the basement. By creating a continuous path like an 8 shape, the connection between the park and the commercial zone becomes natural, and it gives the visitors an easy access and a vision of a maximum of shops. The path turns around itself to come back to its start point. Le gouvernement local, préoccupé par le manque d espaces verts dans le district, a décidé de mettre l accent sur sa re-végétalisation avec la création d une ceinture verte le long du fleuve. Ils ont également permis à certains développeurs d utiliser les sous-sols pour différentes activités. Le projet occupe une partie de cette ceinture verte. L objectif a donc été de créer un parc urbain au niveau de la rue ainsi qu une zone commerciale et des places de parking en sous-sol. La création d un chemin continu, en forme de «8», a permis de relier le parc et la zone commerciale naturellement. Ce chemin facilite l accès des visiteurs entre les deux niveaux et permet d avoir une vision globale de l ensemble des magasins. Il tourne sur lui-même et revient à son point de départ. 35 PARC 9-3 YANGPU PARTIE 2 * Le parc se déploie comme un poumon vert au milieu de cette zone commerciale, les espaces de détente en demi-lune sont recouverts d un doux manteau végétal Due to a major change to the basement s design, the landscaping for the park needed to be completely revised and redesigned. The landscape revision was inspired by an oval shaped building which had previously already been designed. These same shapes were imputed randomly on the site and extruded. Each volume was sculpted and transformed into shapes resembling Half-Moons and then covered with vegetation. The Half-Moons host new functions such as Ping-Pong, Lovers, Entertainment, and Resting areas. The green Half-Moons can be seen from the street and create intriguing rolling hills which aid in attracting visitors. The main curved pathways were created in the center and on the edge of the site creating a more fluid circulation, as well as to make the site more accessible; secondary pathways were added so that visitors can explore the park from different routes. Le nouveau concept s inspire de la forme du bâtiment ovale déjà dessiné. Des formes similaires ont été placées sur le site et ont été ensuite extrudées. Ensuite, chaque volume a été sculpté et transformé en «demi-lune» couverte de plantes et de végétation. Ces «demi-lunes» accueillent de nouvelles fonctions telles que : zone de ping-pong, zone des amoureux, zone de divertissement et zone de repos. Ces «demi-lunes» vertes peuvent être vues depuis la rue et créent un paysage en relief, qui attire les visiteurs. Les chemins principaux en courbe ont été créés au centre et sur les bords du terrain pour rendre la circulation fluide et facile dans cette petite parcelle. Once it was a fishing town, but now the city wants to project itself into the future. The project focuses on the existing environment trying to keep up traces of local heritage when it was needed. 37 JARDIN SANMEN ROAD * Le jardin vient poursuivre la maison, on découvre pas à pas les différents secrets qu il recèle The garden of this existing English-styled villa is divided in several sections, namely the entrance pathway and plaza, the pond, the wooden plaza, and the seating hill on the island. The basement of the house is reflected in the garden by the voids of the three patios. Each void has a specific material (wood, pebble or water) corresponding to the patio below. The entrance to the property is designed with linear lines to match the very strong style of the house. It is more a part of the house than a part of the garden. On the other hand, the garden has been designed with organic shapes to bring about a more natural feel to the house. The pond of the garden and the pond of the basement are also linked by a waterfall. It is a very natural and relaxing connection thanks to the flow of water. When you are in the basement you have the impression of still being in the garden. The wooden plaza has two accesses on each end of its oval shape. It is surrounded by bushes so you don t discover the plaza before arriving to it. A seating hill is located on the island, a little bit apart from the garden, where it enjoys an overall view of the garden as well as the park on the opposite side of the river. Although this garden is not very large, the different curved paths give an impression of a more spacious area. 38 ABRI DE JARDIN * Cette pergola contemporaine est comme une extension ouverte de la maison, elle procure intimité et protège des regards tout en profitant du jardin This exterior project plays with the complex relationship between architecture and furniture design. Indeed, although it is just an addition, it becomes a space in its own, acting as a new space of the house. The client s wish was to create an intimate space where people can meet without being seen, while enjoying the view of the garden. So the inspiration of the wooden hut came naturally. The simple volumes have been designed like an unfinished structure that creates a pure space integrated to the existing construction. The wooden elements were placed in a random way which forms the main structure as well as the envelope of the space. The spaces between the wooden elements allow the interaction with the garden while giving the impression of being in an interior and private space. Nature invites itself in this project with the addition of vegetation on the facades and also inside of the structure. En effet, bien que cela ne soit qu un ajout, il devient un espace à part entière, tel une nouvelle pièce de la maison. Le désir du client était de créer un espace intime où l on peut se réunir à l abri des regards et profiter en même temps du jardin. L idée de la cabane en bois est donc venue naturellement. La volumétrie très simple a été travaillée comme une structure inachevée donnant un espace pur et intégré à l existant. Les éléments en bois placés de façon aléatoire constituent aussi bien la structure principale que l enveloppe de l espace. Les vides entre les éléments en bois permettent d interagir avec le jardin tout en ayant l impression d être dans un espace intérieur et privé. La nature s invite dans le projet grâce à l ajout de végétation sur les façades et à l intérieur même de l espace. Bien plus qu un espace de transition c est un lieu d exposition, un cabinet de curiosité vivant wall, old-fashioned wall paper, unstructured furniture, peeling paint... This is a Parisian apartment victim of time that opens to us, or is it the time that has stopped in these walls? Discovering the place, the new owners are caught between rejection and envy. But despite that, this apartment is full of potential: spacious, very expressive molded ceilings, generously sized rooms and plenty of natural light. Between our desire to restructure everything, to increase the potential of the volumes and to define spaces with contemporary lines and the desire of the clients to keep up the character of the premises in an old style and save time for renovation demolishing the least, this is a tough compromise that had to be implemented. But it appears from both sides that the wish to achieve a beautiful project is stronger than that. It will therefore be a project combining the Haussmann chic with contemporary touches and decorative elements and furniture collected by the owners. The entrance of the apartment is a beautiful reception volume which gives access to the family room and dining room. Much more than a transitional space, it is an exhibition space, a curiosity cabinet that will evolve with the objects and art books of the family. The volume of the dining room has an exceptional theatricality partly due to the existing ceiling moldings which have been kept. This is in the same time a reception room, a workspace or a reading area hidden behind two sliding panels. The living room is the family cocoon, a deliberately neutral and relaxing room, where the family will meet around the fireplace. Paintings will be displayed on most of the walls. The existing corridor has become a painting gallery running along the wall in the image of a timeline tracing the history of the place. It extends into the private areas of the apartment and dematerializes to make room for a glass wall with metal doors behind which is a contemporary kitchen. The rest of the apartment hosts the private spaces of the clients and their children. These rooms were almost all preserved in their original geometry except the master bedroom which is divided into two parts. En découvrant les lieux, les nouveaux propriétaires sont pris entre le rejet et l envie. Mais malgré cela, cet appartement regorge de potentiel : de beaux volumes, un plafond mouluré très expressif et présent, des pièces aux dimensions généreuses et une belle lumière naturelle. Entre notre envie de tout restructurer, d accentuer le potentiel des volumes et de définir des espaces aux lignes contemporaines et celle des maitres d ouvrages de conserver un maximum la nature des lieux dans un style ancien et de gagner du temps pour la rénovation en démolissant le moins possible, c est un dur compromis qu il a fallu mettre en place. Mais il ressort des deux côtés que l envie de réaliser un beau projet est plus forte que cela. Ce sera donc un projet mêlant de l haussmannien chic avec quelques touches contemporaines et des éléments de décors et de mobilier chinés par les maitres d ouvrage. L entrée dans l appartement se fait dans un beau volume de réception central qui donne accès au salon familial et à la salle manger. Bien plus qu un espace de transition c est un lieu d exposition, un cabinet de curiosité vivant qui évoluera au gré des objets et des livres d art de la famille. Le volume de la salle à manger possède une théâtralité exceptionnelle due en partie aux moulures existantes du plafond qui ont été conservées. C est à la fois une pièce de réception, un espace de travail ou un espace de lecture dissimulé derrière deux panneaux coulissants. Le salon est le cocon familial, une pièce volontairement neutre et reposante, où la famille se retrouvera autour du foyer de la cheminée. Les tableaux et les œuvres habilleront la majeure partie des murs. Le couloir existant est devenu une galerie habillée de tableaux filant le long du mur à l image d une frise chronologique retraçant l histoire du lieu. Il se prolonge dans les parties privées de l appartement et se dématérialise pour faire place à une paroi de verre avec des portes en métal forgé derrière laquelle se trouve une cuisine contemporaine. L ensemble du reste de l appartement accueille les espaces privés des maitres d ouvrages et de leurs enfants. Ces pièces ont été presque toutes conservées dans leur géométrie initiale excepté la chambre parentale qui se trouve divisée en 2 parties. Un dressing créé une zone tampon entre le couloir et la partie nuit de la chambre pour garder l intimité de cette chambre.

43 ESPACE DE LOISIRS * Un espace baigné de lumière, chaleureux et convivial, où les différentes fonctions s articulent autour de trois patios végétalisés For this project, the client wanted a private entertainment space with a dancing/events room, a bar and a fitness room that can be easily converted into a reading space. The main space had to be simple to adapt to the different activities, but the general atmosphere should reflect a luxurious and modern aspect. Emphasis has been placed on the details of the ceilings, interior woodwork and furniture, and on the choice of noble materials. L espace principal devait être simple afin de s adapter aux différents événements mais l atmosphère générale devait refléter un aspect luxueux et moderne. L accent a donc été mis sur les détails de faux plafonds, de menuiseries intérieures et mobilier fixe et sur le choix de matériaux nobles. Les feuilles d or utilisées au niveau des faux plafonds combinées avec des formes simples permettent de créer un espace lumineux et luxueux tout en restant contemporain. Ils donnent l impression d être à l extérieur bien qu étant sous le jardin The new extension of this existing house is completely buried. The new basement is occupied by a Ping-Pong room, a billiard room, and a lounge which is open on three patios. These patios were created to bring natural light and ventilation, as well as to connect the basement and the garden. They become an extension of the garden in the basement creates the feeling of being outdoors even if you are underground. The path from the garage to the villa entrance (in the basement) has been redesigned to match the new extension. It enjoys natural light and is open on one side to the sunken barbecue area. On the other side, a wall fully covered with green vegetation leads visitors towards the villa. The lounge is a large open space divided into different areas a reading, entertainment, and pantry area using custom-made furniture. The pantry is connected to a wooden patio so that it enjoys natural light and a clear view of the vegetation. The lounge also gives access to the Ping- Pong room and the billiard room. These rooms are linked to the water patio which spills down from the garden to the basement creating a waterfall. This patio also has access to the garden via a staircase hidden under the pond. Finally the lounge is linked to the pebble patio which visually connects the existing house with the new basement. Le nouveau sous-sol est occupé par une salle de ping-pong, une salle de billard et un lounge ouvert sur 3 patios. Ces patios ont été créés pour apporter de la lumière, de la ventilation naturelle et aussi pour connecter le sous-sol au jardin. Ils deviennent l extension du jardin dans le sous-sol. Ils donnent ainsi l impression d être à l extérieur bien qu étant sous le jardin. Le chemin allant du garage à l entrée de la maison (au sous-sol) a été redessinée pour correspondre au nouveau design de l extension. Il profite de lumière naturelle et est ouvert sur un côté sur l espace barbecue. De l autre côté, un mur végétal s étend sur toute la hauteur et montre la voie vers l entrée de la villa. Le lounge est un grand espace ouvert divisé en plusieurs zones (salle de lecture, salle de jeux vidéo, bar) grâce à un meuble sur-mesure qui ne ferme pas les espaces. Le bar est connecté au «patio bois» afin de profiter de la lumière naturelle et d avoir une vue sur la végétation. Le lounge donne aussi l accès à la salle de ping-pong et à la salle de billard. Ces pièces sont liées au «patio eau» qui coule depuis le jardin vers le sous-sol en créant une cascade. Ce patio a aussi un accès direct au jardin grâce à un escalier caché sous l étang. Enfin, le lounge est lié au «patio gravier» qui connecte visuellement la maison existante et le nouveau sous-sol. Toutes les différentes parties de cet intérieur ont été traitées pour donner l impression d être en extérieur par l utilisation de matériaux ou par l apport de lumière naturelle.

Built in , the residence never had improvement work on the ground floor since its opening. Paints and flooring are original. Tiles, wallpapers and carpets are very damaged and difficult to maintain and are potential causes of falls for residents. Our mission has been to renovate the interior public areas on the ground floor in order to make them match the current regulations on one hand, and on the other hand to beautify the space by changing the damaged floors, by defining new spaces with mid-height partitions and marking traffic areas. Another requirement of the building owner was to give access to all the ground floor areas to handicapped people (including wheelchair users), and the possibility of facilitating access to external terraces to all residents by creating ramps. Les carrelages, papiers peints et moquettes au sol sont très usés et difficiles d entretien et sont autant de causes potentielles de chutes pour les résidents. Notre mission de maitrise d œuvre a donc consisté à la réhabilitation intérieure des parties communes du rez-de-chaussée tant par sa mise en conformité avec la réglementation actuelle que par l embellissement des lieux avec le changement des sols abimés, la définition de nouveaux espaces avec des cloisons mi-hauteur et le marquage des espaces de circulation. Une autre exigence du maitre d ouvrage a également consisté à la mise en accessibilité de l ensemble des zones pour les personnes à mobilité réduite (notamment les personnes en fauteuil roulant), et la possibilité de faciliter l accès aux terrasses extérieures à l ensemble des résidents par la création de rampes. 46 2K GAMES SHANGHAI * La nouvelle identité du bureau, la création d espaces plus agréables et appropriables renforceront l esprit d équipe au sein de la compagnie Evolution instead of revolution are the keywords of this office renovation project for a video game company. Indeed, the new project should be integrated in a strongly present architecture without completely changing the existing space. The architectural intervention was to improve the workspace of each production studio through the creation of appropriable spaces. For this, an active functional wall hosting all the necessary functions for each team runs through the office and generates the different spaces. This wall creates a new synergy in the office, allowing the employees to exchange and communicate easily during the process of creating the video games. Each studio has a small meeting room, a testing area for the video games, an office for the leader and a writing board to simplify the diffusion of information. All these functions were integrated in the «wall» which frees a generous space to make the circulation more fluid in the office. Each team can communicate with the neighbor team because of the passages created through the wall. The cafeteria becomes a living and meeting space where the areas for having meals and for playing are clearly delimited. The common spaces (reception, cafeteria, meeting rooms) have been also redesigned with a lighter intervention in order to make them match harmoniously with the new image of the office. En effet, le nouveau projet devait s inscrire dans une architecture fortement présente sans changer complètement l existant. L intervention architecturale a consisté à améliorer l espace de travail de chacun des studios de production grâce à la création d espaces appropriables. Pour cela, un «mur actif fonctionnel» abritant toutes les fonctions nécessaires à chaque équipe parcourt tout le plateau et génère les différents espaces. Ce mur créé une nouvelle synergie dans le bureau, permettant aux employés d échanger et de communiquer plus facilement durant le processus de création des jeux vidéo. Chaque studio possède une petite salle de réunion, un espace de test pour les jeux, un bureau pour le leader et des tableaux pour faciliter la diffusion des informations.toutes ces fonctions sont intégrées dans le «mur» ce qui libère un espace généreux pour placer les bureaux de façon à rendre la circulation plus fluide. Chaque équipe peut communiquer avec l équipe voisine grâce à des passages créés à travers le mur. La cafétéria devient un espace de vie et de rencontre où les espace de repas et de jeux sont clairement délimités.les espaces communs (réception, salles de réunions) ont eux aussi été repensés avec une intervention plus légère qui leur permet de s accorder harmonieusement avec la nouvelle image du bureau. Les changements apportés dans le bureau apportent une identité nouvelle et des espaces plus agréables et appropriables qui renforceront l esprit d équipe au sein de la compagnie.

47 rénovation chambre de bonne * Cette exigence d un espace singulier multifonction a tout d abord été perçue comme une contrainte assez complexe et, par la suite, est devenue la véritable force du projet. Maids rooms in Paris have long been considered ungrateful and secluded spaces in the beautiful Haussmann buildings. Always located on the top level under the roof of these buildings, they are characterized by their small size, with rudimentary aesthetic interior spaces and common circulations difficult to access. It s a non architecture within the beautiful Haussmann architecture. Over time, the maids rooms have known different usages, therefore losing their original purpose and becoming attics / storage. Thereafter, the general increase in property prices has also generated a new consideration of these forgotten square meters and generated a renewed housing. This location under the roof which was considered ungrateful became an additional property asset, offering features not exploited by their previous occupants: sunshine, no vis-à-vis, overlooking the rooftops of Paris and the possibility to create lofts combining several maids rooms. It s due to a lack of space and in anticipation of the coming of a future au pair they cannot receive directly in their apartment that our clients have entrusted us with the difficult task of arranging the 8sqm maid s room. Despite the small area, the space had to be functional in order to sleep, and also to cook, eat, wash, work and store a maximum number of items. The space should guarantee the independence of the future occupant. The architectural response we made in order to allow the establishment of many different functions refers to the «concept of the Swiss Army knife.» The Swiss Army Knife is a simple knife but by a game of sliding and folding it can contain a multitude of tools in a very small object. Therefore, the new maid s room is a modular transcription of such an object with elements of storage, a bed, a table, a wardrobe, a staircase, a kitchenette and a bathroom, all fully integrated within a large closet which can be unfolded according to the desires and changes the perception of space. Once all the elements are folded and stored in this large closet, it frees half of the surface of the room. The requirement of a unique multifunctional space has first been seen as a fairly complex constraint and, in the end, became the real strength of the project. Les chambres de bonne parisiennes ont pendant longtemps été considérées comme des espaces ingrats et reclus au sein des beaux bâtiments haussmanniens. Toujours situées aux derniers niveaux sous toiture de ces belles demeures, elles se caractérisaient par leur modeste taille, un intérieur avec une esthétique rudimentaire et des espaces de circulations communs difficiles d accès, une «non architecture» au sein même de belles architectures haussmanniennes. Avec le temps, les chambres de bonne ont connu plusieurs fonctionnalités, perdant ainsi leur usages d origine et devenant des greniers / débarras. Par la suite, l augmentation générale du foncier a également généré une nouvelle prise en compte de ces mètres carrés oubliés et généré un renouveau de logement. Cette situation sous comble considérée comme ingrate est dès lors devenue une réserve foncière supplémentaire, offrant des caractéristiques jamais exploitées par leurs précédents occupants : bon ensoleillement, aucun vis-à-vis, vue sur les toits de Paris et la possibilité de créer des lofts en associant plusieurs chambres ensembles. C est par manque d espace et en prévision de la venue d une future fille au pair qu ils ne peuvent pas accueillir directement dans leur appartement que nos clients nous ont confié la délicate mission d aménager la chambre de bonne d une surface de 8m². Malgré la petite superficie l espace se devait d être fonctionnel afin de pouvoir y dormir, et en plus pouvoir y cuisiner, manger, se laver, travailler et ranger un maximum d éléments. L espace devait garantir l autonomie de la future occupante. Privé 个 人 Paris, France 法 国 8 m² La réponse architecturale que nous avons apportée afin de permettre la mise en place d autant de fonctions différentes fait référence au «concept du couteau suisse». Le couteau suisse est un simple couteau mais qui par un jeu de glissement et de rabattement permet de contenir une multitude d outils dans un très petit objet. Ainsi la nouvelle chambre de bonne est une retranscription modulaire d un tel objet avec des éléments de rangements, un lit, une table, une penderie, un escalier, une kitchenette et une salle d eau, le tout Photographe: Fabienne Delafraye entièrement intégré à un grand «placard» et qui se déploie au gré des envies et modifie la perception de l espace. 48 pôle international du cheval * C est une forme hybride qui répond savamment à deux contraintes distinctes de l espace en délimitant physiquement le restaurant et la zone d administration. For this project, our mission was to create an office in the location of the International Horse Center reception area. Currently there is no real reception area and a lack of information in this space which remains a mandatory passage before entering the arena. We even can find an employee desk in the middle of the space which therefore lacks of consistency. The architectural response we made was to intervene globally throughout the project area rather than providing a punctual intervention by adding another volume, which would have a bad impact on the whole space. Therefore the access to the International Horse Center is now made along a wooden wall on which golden boxes are displayed randomly and seem to float in the air. Some of these boxes are a presentation support and can accommodate trophies or objects of the Center. They allow the dissemination of information about the activities of the institution. The largest ones are glazed openings that provide the employees a framing on the arena and restaurant. The reception of visitors is made through two boxes at different heights; they allow providing information to all visitors including wheelchair users. The wall is used successively as information support, reception area, administrative office, entries to administration and toilets. It follows the curve of the ceiling gently to clear the view of the large bay window overlooking the arena. The upper wooden part encircles the column and marks the general shape of the volume. The intervention emphasizes the directions towards the different areas of the pole in a very pragmatic way. This geometry was determined by the flow of traffic. The volume is both seen as a gentle and welcoming shape that provides views towards the arena and also as a volume that respects the geometric space of the restaurant. It is a hybrid form that responds cleverly to two distinct constraints of the space by separating physically the restaurant and administration area. Despite the compactness of the project, the boxes come to lighten the overall volume and when it is lit, it turns into a wooden lantern. La mission qui nous a été confiée consiste à la création d un bureau à l emplacement de l espace d accueil du Pôle International du Cheval. Actuellement il n existe aucun lieu d accueil et d information dans cette zone de réception et de transition qui demeure un passage obligé avant d accéder au manège. On retrouve même le bureau d un employé au beau milieu de la salle. L espace manque ainsi de cohérence. La réponse architecturale que nous avons apportée a consisté à intervenir globalement sur l ensemble de la zone de projet plutôt que d apporter une réponse ponctuelle par l adjonction d un volume supplémentaire, qui aurait pour incidence de dénaturer l espace. Ainsi, l accès au pôle international du cheval se fait désormais le long d un mur habillé de bois sur lequel viennent reposer des boites dorées placées de manière aléatoire qui semblent flotter dans les airs. Certaines de ces boites font office de support de présentation et peuvent accueillir des trophées ou des objets du pôle. Elles permettent la diffusion d informations concernant l activité de l établissement. Les plus grandes sont de simples ouvertures vitrées qui offrent aux employés du bureau des cadrages sur le manège et le restaurant. L accueil des visiteurs se fait grâce à deux boites placées à différentes hauteurs, elles permettent de renseigner tous les visiteurs y compris les personnes en fauteuil roulant. Le mur devient ainsi successivement zone d information, espace de réception, bureau administratif, entrées de l administration et des sanitaires. Il épouse la courbe du plafond tout en douceur afin de dégager la vue sur la grande baie vitrée du manège. L imposte en bois encercle le poteau et vient marquer la forme générale du volume. L intervention hiérarchise pragmatiquement les directions vers les différents espaces du pôle 48/58 Ville de Deauville Deauville, France 法 国 2015 ITE En cours 项 目 进 行 中 Cette géométrie a été déterminée grâce aux flux des circulations. Le volume est à la fois perçu comme une forme douce et accueillante qui dégage les vues vers le manège et également comme un volume respectant la géomé trie orthogonale de l espace de restauration. C est une forme hybride qui répond savamment à deux contraintes distinctes de l espace en déli mitant physiquement le restaurant et la zone d administration. Malgré la compacité du projet, les boites viennent alléger l ensemble du volume et lorsque celui-ci est éclairé, il se transforme en une lanterne de bois.

49 STUDIO VULPIAN * La mise à nu des murs intérieurs et l utilisation de matériaux bruts renforcent le caractère industriel de l espace The conversion of this former industrial warehouse into a place of events in the heart of Paris required a meticulous re-appropriation of space. The approach for the project has been to highlight the industrial architecture of columns and beams which is very interesting and atypical. Le parti pris à été de mettre en avant son architecture de colonnes et de poutres industrielle très intéressante et atypique. La mise à nu de l intérieur et l utilisation de matériaux naturels a permis de renforcer le caractère de l espace et d amener plus de lumière naturelle au sein du bâtiment. 52 DECOTEC *le meuble est comme une sculpture qui habille le mur The bathroom is a daily place for all members of the family, where we should spend as little time as possible during the morning rush. But also, it is a room where people like to spend time alone to care of themselves or with their partner to discuss while preparing. The bathroom can also be a learning place where children learn hygiene and how to do like grownups. The concept of this piece of furniture is to allow each members of the family to appropriate it according to their needs. It centralizes all the necessary equipment of the body care. Besides its functional side, it is like a sculpture which adorns the wall. It is soft and curved, like soap bubbles floating in the air. 卫 生 间 是 每 个 家 庭 成 员 每 天 都 要 使 用 的 地 方, 在 每 天 早 上 的 冲 忙 时 间 里, 我 们 都 要 在 这 里 呆 上 一 段 时 间 但 同 时, 这 里 也 是 人 们 喜 欢 独 处 疗 伤 或 者 和 伙 伴 讨 论 商 量 事 情 的 场 所 卫 生 间 也 可 以 成 为 一 个 学 习 的 场 所, 在 这 里, 孩 子 们 学 会 了 如 何 讲 卫 生, 学 会 了 如 何 像 大 人 那 样 子 做 这 件 家 具 的 设 计 理 念 是 允 许 每 个 家 庭 成 员 都 根 据 自 己 的 需 要 对 它 进 行 合 理 的 利 用 它 集 中 了 所 有 身 体 护 理 所 必 须 的 设 备 除 了 具 备 本 身 的 功 能 之 外, 它 还 像 一 件 雕 塑 品 一 样 装 饰 着 墙 面 它 柔 软 弯 曲 的 外 形 就 像 漂 浮 在 空 中 的 肥 皂 泡 La salle de bain est un lieu de passage quotidien pour tous les membres de la famille où on ne doit passer que peu de temps lors des matins pressés. Mais à l inverse, c est une pièce où on aime passer du temps seul pour s occuper de soi ou à deux pour discuter tout en se préparant. La salle de bain peut être aussi un lieu d apprentissage où les enfants apprennent l hygiène et essayent de faire «comme les grands». Le concept de ce meuble est de permettre à chacun de se l approprier selon ses envies. Il centralise tous les équipements nécessaires à la toilette. Hormis son côté fonctionnel, le meuble est donc comme une sculpture qui habille le mur. 53 MEUBLE XIII * Ce meuble combine un design et des matériaux élégants avec une technologie avancée This piece of furniture has been designed to meet the new needs due to the arrival of new technologies. It combines elegant design and materials with advanced technology. It s a convertible cabinet that looks like a simple sideboard in the closed position, but in fact it hides a large television screen that appears by just pressing a button. It therefore allows to hide this screen sometimes unsightly and to keep a clean and pure interior. 这 件 家 具 的 设 计 是 为 了 满 足 新 技 术 下 产 生 的 新 需 求 它 将 优 雅 的 设 计 和 材 料 与 新 技 术 进 行 了 完 美 融 合 它 是 一 个 看 起 来 像 简 单 边 柜 的 可 变 换 的 柜 子, 但 其 实 在 里 面 还 藏 着 一 个 大 电 视 机 屏 幕, 只 要 一 按 按 钮, 就 能 显 示 出 来 因 此 这 件 家 具 能 在 需 要 的 时 候 将 屏 幕 隐 藏 起 来 以 保 持 室 内 的 干 净 和 整 洁 Ce meuble a été conçu pour répondre aux nouveaux besoins dûs à l arrivée de nouvelles technologies. C est un meuble transformable qui a l air d un simple buffet bas en position fermée, mais qui en fait cache un écran de télévision grand format qui apparait en appuyant sur un simple bouton. La composition du mobilier prend sens et nous fait découvrir un meuble filant rythmé par la composition hiérarchisée des boites. The main idea of the project is to create contemporary piece of furniture that adapts to the different areas of this holiday house. Each room it goes through needed a specific volume according to a specific need. The various functions corresponding to the house entrance, the dining room and the kitchen had to mingle along a single wall. So, as it develops, the furniture has a different thickness to first accommodate the kitchen equipment, then it turns into multiple alcoves and shelves integrating a bench, and finally at the house entrance, it becomes a succession of boxes. If they were placed side by side, pieces of furniture of different thicknesses might not have given the feeling a coherent set. The strategy to bring a unity to the set is to create an architectural staple system between each of the elements in order to create a link between the various functions. The architectural staple between the pieces of furniture is made through boxes of same materials. They are repeated along the wall and create a hook giving coherence to the whole set. The house entrance is smooth along a wall hiding a sliding door giving access to the toilets. Two wooden alcoves remind us the depth of the wall which hosts multiple storages. On the facing wall, boxes of the same material seem to levitate above the ground. As we penetrate in the house, the discovery of space becomes clearer. The composition of the wall makes sense and makes us discover this long piece of furniture punctuated by the hierarchical composition of the boxes. Part of the furniture facing room is a curiosity cabinet with multiple shelves in which can be placed different objects, books, photos and memories of the family. Drawers are sliding in the lower part along the wall and they become a bench completing the entire furniture and marking the boundary of space. Actually, this central part of the furniture is an articulation between the kitchen and entrance. The part dedicated to the kitchen is more solid to integrate the equipment and to offer a lot of storage. Chacune des pièces qu il traverse répond à des besoins et à une volumétrie spécifique. Les différentes fonctions correspondant à l entrée, la salle à manger et la cuisine doivent se côtoyer sur un pan de mur longeant l ensemble de la maison. Ainsi, au fur et à mesure de son développement, le meuble change d épaisseur afin tout d abord de pouvoir accueillir les différents équipements de la cuisine, ensuite il se transforme en de multiples niches et étagères intégrant une banquette amovible, pour finalement se dématérialiser au niveau de l entrée par une succession de niches. S ils avaient été placés côte à côte, les meubles de différentes épaisseurs auraient donné un ensemble non cohérent. La stratégie pour rendre l ensemble homogène consiste à mettre en œuvre un système d agrafe architecturale entre chacun des éléments afin de créer un trait d union entre les différentes fonctions. L agrafe architecturale entre les différents meubles se fait par le biais de boites de même matérialité. Elles se répètent le long du mur et permettent une accroche donnant une cohérence à l ensemble. L entrée dans la maison se fait tout en douceur le long d une paroi qui dissimule une porte coulissante donnant accès aux toilettes. Deux niches aux tons bois viennent nous rappeler la profondeur de cette paroi qui accueille de multiples rangements. Sur le mur faisant face, des boites du même matériau semblent léviter au-dessus du sol. Au fur et à mesure des pas, la découverte de l espace se fait plus claire. La composition du mobilier prend sens et nous fait découvrir un meuble filant rythmé par la composition hiérarchisée des boites. La partie du meuble faisant face au séjour devient un cabinet de curiosité avec de multiples étagères où viennent se placer différents objets, des livres, des photos et des souvenirs de la famille. Des tiroirs de rangement viennent se glisser en partie basse et deviennent une banquette venant compléter l ensemble et marquer la limite de l espace. En effet, cette partie centrale du meuble fait office d articulation entre la cuisine et l entrée. La partie dédiée à la cuisine est plus solide ce qui permet d intégrer l ensemble de l électroménager au meuble et d offrir de nombreux rangements. 54/58 Privé 个 人 Ile de Re; France 法 国 2013 En cours 项 目 进 行 中 Ce grand meuble est complété par un ensemble de plus petits éléments de mobilier qui viennent redéfinir les espaces de la maison tels la chambre et son dressing ou la salle de bain.
