ORCHESTRA & DESIGN PERCEPT Les deux têtes pensantes de Design Percept, Clémentine Chambon et Françoise Mamert ont posé un regard inédit sur la toile de store. Elles ont choisi de bousculer les codes du design extérieur en introduisant le Jean dans cette nouvelle collection. Elles n ont pas hésité à bouger les lignes des rayures classiques pour créer des références alternatives : Trévise, Naples et Brooklyn. En dessinant la toile Cube, Clémentine et Françoise se sont appuyées sur le savoir-faire ancestral de Dickson en matière de tissage. Cette véritable prouesse technique est le résultat d un tissage hors pair se jouant des symétries et osant l illusion 3D. A l occasion de l exposition organisée par le VIA pour la remise des labels 2011-2012, elles ont imaginé un totem cubique de 3 m de hauteur. Indeed, it was a noteworthy achievement. The masterminds behind Design Percept offered technical textiles a refreshing new look. They challenged traditional outdoor decorating codes by introducing the Jean pattern to this new collection. Without hesitation, they rearranged classic stripes to create alternative options: Trévise, Naples and Brooklyn. When they designed the Cube pattern, Clémentine and Françoise drew their inspiration from Dickson s historic expertise in weaving. A technical feat beyond compare, this brilliant weave plays on symmetries and bold 3D illusions. In honour of this year s VIA LABELS exhibition, during which the winners will be publicly recognised, Design Percept created a 3.5-metre tall cubic totem pole display. This teamwork was commended by the industry and awarded the prestigious VIA Label in 2011. This was the first time a fabric collection earned this honour since the creation of the label.

Matériau sélectionné pour l installation : toile de store Orchestra Created for the Zoom show within a show at the 2011 Batimat exhibition, the Blue Form installation by Design Percept presents a masterpiece of weaving inspired by a traditional Japanese pattern. A clever matrix of demin, klein and azur blues structures the soil from which giant, captivatingly colourful blooms burst forth in all directions. SERPENTINE d ELEONORE NALLET Présenté au Concours International Design Parade 2010, Serpentine est un fauteuil conçu pour s asseoir dehors toute l année. La structure métallique délicate rappelle celle de la végétation d hiver. Lorsque l été revient, Serpentine s habille avec de longs coussins qui tels des serpents entrelacent le dossier et les accoudoirs. On peut encore apercevoir l armature en métal sans que le corps perçoive son contact. Les coussins modèlent une morphologie accueillante, transforment et enrichissent la structure à l image des changements visibles de la végétation au fil des saisons. Matériaux sélectionnés pour le prototype : châssis en métal, tissu Sunbrella Jardin rembourré de mousse. Presented at the 2010 International Design Parade competition, Serpentine is a chair that s made to stay outside year round. The delicate metal structure echoes the stark winter vegetation. And when summer weather returns, the Serpentine chair dons a series of soft, elongated cushions that wind in and out of the seatback and armrests. The metal structure remains visible but cannot be felt by those seated in this chameleon chair. The snake-like cushions create an inviting look that transforms and enriches the structure, a mirror image of the surrounding plant life that changes with each new season. SERPENTINE d E L E O N O R E N A L L E T Olivier Amsellem Eléonore Nallet sélectionne Sunbrella pour le prototype de Serpentine Née en 1984, elle obtient en 2008 un Master en design à École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris, où elle étudiait depuis 2003. De 2006 à 2007, elle est élève de la Design Academy de Eindhoven, Pays-Bas (Erasmus). Elle est l assistante de la designer Inga Sempé depuis 2008. Lors de ses recherches pour la création de Serpentine, elle sélectionne les tissus SUnbrella pour leur grande qualité de «cacher» leur haute technicité. Elle en apprécie la souplesse et la douceur du textile, comparable à celle de textiles d ameublement d intérieur. Editée par Cinna en 2012, la Serpentine a reçu le label VIA 2012. Eléonore Nallet chose to use Sunbrella fabric for her Serpentine prototype chair In 2008, at the age of 24, she earned a Master s degree in design at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where she had been studying since 2003. As part of the Erasmus study abroad programme, she attended the Eindhoven Design Academy in Holland from 2006 to 2007. She has been the assistant to designer Inga Sempé since her graduation in 2008. During her research to develop the Serpentine prototype chair, she chose Sunbrella fabric for its remarkable ability to hide the fact that it is actually quite hightech. She particularly appreciated the fabric s soft, ultra pliable texture, much like that of indoor decorating and upholstery fabric. SILEX de JEAN-FRANÇOIS BELLEMÈRE A partir des recherches sur le pli issues de la géométrie, Jean- François Bellemère travaille le tissu et apporte des réponses structurelles et esthétiques : en partant cette matière souple, il parvient à créer une rigidité. Le tissu se transforme ainsi en un volume qui se ploie et se déploie en coulissant sur une tringle. Matériaux sélectionnés pour le prototype : tissu Mahé de Dickson et Drop Paper de Procédés Chênet International (produits classés M1). Based on extensive research of folds actual geometry, Jean- François Bellemère chose to work with Dickson fabric to give his invention practical form and aesthetic appeal. Starting with this highly pliable material, he managed to create a certain stiffness so it takes on a dynamic volume that elegantly folds and unfolds as it slides along the curtain rod. Materials selected for this prototype: Mahé fabric by Dickson and Drop Paper by Procédés Chênet International (M1 flame-retardant products).

SILEX d e J E A N - F R A N Ç O I S B E L L E M È R E Jean-François Bellemère, l architecte qui choisit Dickson pour le designer Né en 1972, Jean-François Bellemère se passionne très tôt pour les objets : leurs formes, leurs fonctions, leurs histoires. Il obtient le diplôme d architecte DPLG en 1996. Suivront sept années de projets au sein d agences, plus particulièrement des scénographies et des événementiels pour de grandes marques. Le design d objet et de mobilier reste néanmoins au cœur de son parcours de créateur. En 2002, il crée la bibliothèque Mikado. Fin 2003, souhaitant révéler les créations d Olivier Chabaud et Laurent Lévêque, Jean- François Bellemère crée la société Edition Compagnie, qui édite également Adrien Gardère, Vincent Vandenbrouck, Élodie Poidatz et Jean-Jacques Hubert. Certaines créations sont récompensées par des prix, comme le Label Via, la Découverte Elle ou le «Coup de cœur» Dwell. Lors de ses recherches pour la création de Silex, Jean-François Bellemère se tourne naturellement vers Dickson, référence incontestée des textiles techniques dans l univers des architectes et prescripteurs. Jean-François Bellemère, designer/architect chooses to work with Dickson fabric Born in 1972, Jean-François Bellemère developed a passion for designing objects very early on. He was fascinated by their shapes, their functions, and their stories. In 1996 he received a DPLG degree in architecture. After seven years of working for different agencies on various projects, particularly set designs and special events for major brands, his heart remains true to his first love, that of designing furniture and other objects. In 2002, he designed the Mikado library. Looking to promote the work of Olivier Chabaud and Laurent Lévêque, as well as that of Adrien Gardère, Vincent Vandenbrouck, Élodie Poidatz and Jean-Jacques Hubert, he founded Edition Compagnie in late 2003. Some of these designers creations have earned accolades, such as the VIA Label, ELLE magazine s Découverte award or Dwell s Coup de Cœur (favourite pick). ESPACE PLIABLE d EDITH MAGNAN Ces modules cubiques en toile délimitent un espace à expérimenter. Ce sont des réalisations pliées, qui par un jeu d équilibre entre rigidité et souplesse, proposent le déploiement d un volume et l extension de ces variations spatiales. Chacune de ses installations comportent une ouverture, aussi une fois le déploiement réalisé le visiteur peut entrer, découvrir et occuper cet espace. Matériaux sélectionnés pour le prototype : Tissus Orchestra de Dickson These modular, fabric-covered cubes establish the limits of a very special space. The folded structures expand to varying degrees in a brilliant balance between rigidity and flexibility. Each of these installations has an opening so that once the cube is set up, visitors can step inside and discover the unique environment. ESPACE PLIABLE d EDITH MAGNAN Edith Magan Née en 1985, Edith Magnan vit et travaille entre Paris et Marseille. Diplômée de l Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, elle dirige des ateliers à la faculté d Arts Plastiques. Elle mène, en parallèle, une recherche doctorale sur la question de «l Espace Pliable». Fascinée par le rapport de l homme avec l espace, et plus précisément par notre condition spatiale, ses productions explorent l idée d un «corps-volume». Edith Magnan expérimente notre rapport à l espace, tant par le dessin, la sculpture, la vidéo que l installation. Leïla Garfield Edith Magan Born in 1985, Edith Magnan lives and works part-time in Paris and part-time in Marseille. A graduate of the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, she now leads workshops at the school of fine arts. She is also conducting research for her doctorate thesis on Foldable Space. Fascinated by people s relationship with space, and more precisely spatial conditions, her creations explore the body-volume relationship. The principle: cover ceilings and walls with LEDs to re-create the magic light of the heavens at night. The star-leds are available in 6 shades of white and placed freely across the surface sheathed in Sunworker M1 (flame-retardant) fabric by Dickson. In 2012, Dickson and Elle Décoration launched a mini collection of Orchestra awning fabrics with 3 designer patterns called Wake Up, Garden Party and Clubbing. These exclusive creations share the same chic, understated, graphic style in natural, mineral colour tones but portray different universes: coffee beans, stylized leaves and tennis stripes. Co-designed by Dickson s style department and Elle Décoration, this capsule collection plays on the blurring of boundaries between indoors and out. HOMMAGE A MONDRIAN D E D I D I E R D A N E T POUR EXTERIEURS DESIGN Le Festival Jardins, jardin s installe chaque année au printemps dans le jardin des Tuileries. Evénement national dédié aux tendances du jardin urbain et du design d extérieur, cette manifestation, dynamique et contemporaine, est un lieu de création et d inspiration pour tous les amateurs d art de vivre au jardin. The Jardins, jardin festival is held every spring in Paris Tuileries gardens. A national highlight, this event focuses on outdoor design and urban gardening trends. It s a dynamic, ultra contemporary array of creative inspiration. The perfect outing for all those who love beautiful outdoor living. Pour l édition 2011 du festival Jardins, jardin, Didier Danet, paysagiste, a réalisé pour le magazine Extérieurs Design un jardin «arty» en hommage à l un des peintres les plus importants du XXème siècle : Mondrian. Le paysagiste ne souhaitait pas tant que l on contemple son jardin comme un tableau que de faire vivre le cœur de l œuvre. Il a choisi pour cela de jouer sur le contraste en une structure stricte et une végétation choisie dans une palette de couleurs la plus proche possible de celle du tableau originel. Les limites du jardin sont ainsi marquées par des claustras aux couleurs primaires créés par l aluminier d art Eric Ferber. Pour la toile carrée qui coiffait le jardin, il a fallu trouver LE rouge parfait, couleur primaire utilisée par le peintre néerlandais. Didier Danet a puisé dans la palette des unis de Sunbrella de Dickson. Cet aplat dense et intense ponctue de sa rigueur le jardin, œuvre vivante, hommage inédit à Mondrian. For the 2011 edition of the Jardins, jardin festival, landscape artist Didier Danet pays tribute to one of the 20 th century s most influential artists: Mondrian. His so-called artsy garden was developed for Extérieurs Design magazine s entry in this exciting annual event. The landscape artist was not looking for people to admire his work as they would a painting, but rather to bring life to the master s painting through his gardening. To achieve this, he played up the contrasts between a rigid structure and plants that reflect the original painting s palette as closely as possible. This garden painting is framed by vibrant, primary coloured aluminium wrought by Eric Ferber. The square of fabric that tops this dazzling piece had to be just the right red, exactly like that which the famous Dutch painter used. Didier Danet found what he needed in the Sunbrella collection of solids by Dickson. This vibrant sheet of intense red fabric fits perfectly with the garden s precision, a lively, poignant nod to the great Mondrian. www.jardinsjardin.com

Sa façade «double-peau» est conçue pour ouvrir la médiathèque sur la ville tout en protégeant l établissement du froid de l hiver, de la chaleur de l été, du bruit de la rue. Les stores Sunworker de Dickson captent la lumière du jour tout en offrant une protection thermique et solaire inégalée. The 2,950 square metre building stands on a network of steel and concrete with large beams that free up vast open areas, without any cumbersome dividers. The second-skin façade was designed to open the library up to the surrounding city while still protecting the visitors and workers from the cold in winter, the heat in summer, and the street noise year round. Classé monument historique, l hôtel Alliance encore appelé Couvent des Minimes est un ancien lieu de prière et de prédication. Au cœur de ce lieu hors du temps empreint de l architecture flamande du 17 ème siècle, le restaurant «Le Jardin du Cloître» accueille ses convives sous une verrière de 900 m². Classified as a historic monument, the Alliance hotel is often referred to by its nickname the Minimes Convent because for many years it was a cloister and a mecca for devout prayer. In the heart of this timeless place marked by 17 th century Flemish architecture, the restaurant «Le Jardin du Cloître» welcomes guests under a 900 square metre canopy. Au-delà d une simple solution technique, cet élément s affirme comme un signal architectural fort. This monumental feat brilliantly combines aesthetic appeal and technical performance to ensure efficient heat and sun protection while creating an enjoyable ambiance. Eight velum awnings made with 156 square metres of Sunworker fabric, a micro-perforated material, keep temperatures comfortable and lighting natural for the lucky guests who dine at Le Jardin du Cloître. Le sac 36h de Ricochet est créé dans le cadre de l opération Le Défi Innover Ensemble, une initiative portée par les Compagnons du devoir et soutenue par la fondation J.M. Weston. Cet atelier de projet collaboratif et interdisciplinaire a impliqué en 2011 2 équipes, chacune constituée de deux maroquinières en formation chez les Compagnons du Devoir, de deux designers de l Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle et de deux étudiants en management à l Institut Français de la Mode. The 36-hour bag by Ricochet was created within the framework of the Défi Innover Ensemble (Let s Innovate Together) initiative spearheaded by the Compagnons du Devoir expert craftsmen organization and backed by the J.M. Weston foundation. In 2011, this interdisciplinary collaborative research project brought together two highly motivated teams, each made up of two leather workers in training with the Compagnons du Devoir, two designers in training with the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle and two fashion management students from the Institut Français de la Mode. The objective of this first collaborative project: invent a bag for people to take on business trips that integrates all the finest leatherworking know-how in an innovative way. LE SAC 36H PROJET D ÉTUDE COLLABORATIF Une équipe d étudiants, a développé le concept du Sac 36h sous la marque fictive Ricochet. Le Sac 36h répond aux besoins d un homme en voyages d affaire pendant 2 jours et une nuit. L innovation technologique est l un des axes central de cette réalisation. L équipe s est intéressée aux matériaux anti-chocs, imperméables, traités avec une enduction silicone pour un effet déperlant. Le choix s est porté sur l Orchestra Max. Ce textile acrylique, utilisé pour la confection des stores présente une résistance éprouvée, un traitement anti-uv, anti-tâches et un traitement de surface spécifique à base de nano-particules superdéperlantes qui le rend imperméable. This team of students came up with the idea of a 36-hour bag and produced a prototype for a fictitious brand called Ricochet. The 36-hour bag meets all the needs of business travelers for a typical two-day and one-night trip. Technological innovation is one of the key aspects of this project. The team thus set out to find materials that were shock-resistant, waterproof and silicon-coated so dirt would bead up and roll off. They decided Orchestra Max fabric by Dickson was the ideal choice.
