TABLE-RONDE N 3 QUEL MANAGEMENT POUR LES FESTIVALS? Introduction par : Diane SAINT-PIERRE, Professeure, Institut National de la Recherche scientifique (Centre Urbanisation, Culture et société), Québec
Quel management pour les festivals? «Que serait la culture sans ceux et celles qui lui donnent une expression, convoquent l émotion, aménagent la rencontre avec le public?» (CQRHC, 2013) What would the culture without those who give it an expression, summon emotion, provoke the meeting with the audience (Translated from CQRHC, 2013)
Les ressources humaines représentent l élément central où tout commence et où tout finit en culture (Human resources are the core where everything begins and everything ends in culture )
Créer, produire, diffuser ou commercialiser dépendent entièrement des personnes qui acceptent d œuvrer au Royaume du travail atypique (Create, produce, distribute or commercialize depends entirely on people who agree to work at Kingdom of atypical work )

SOME CONCLUSIONS The communication strategies vary from festival to festival but do present some general trends. Festivals with larger audiences and more financial means can develop more diversified and complex communication strategies. However, these ones dedicate the same percentage of their budgets to public relations than their smaller counterparts. Rock/pop festivals distinguish themselves from classical music festivals by their more intensive use of the new different communication tools. The variable of audience age plays an important role in determining which tools a festival will use to reach and interact with its potential audience.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
