3 Campo Imperatore in the Gran Sasso d Italia (2916 m) In the 90 s of last century with a wide group of researchers, coming from different italyen universities, I have tried to show how to phytosociological communities we can recognize the existence fields for different ecological factors based only on completely experimental methods of quantitative ecology. Dans les années 90 du siècle dernier avec un large groupe de chercheurs, provenant de différentes universités d Italie j'ai essayé de montrer comment les communautés phytosociologiques nous pouvons reconnaître les champs de l'existence de différents facteurs écologiques basés uniquement sur des méthodes expérimentales d'analyse, que s'inscrire pleinement dans le domaine de l'écologie quantitative. We have thus taken the concept of «ecological valence» based on Hesse proposal (1924) for animals community and calculated according to fuzzy set theory and fuzzy logic (Fuzzy Set Theory) that allow to interpret phytosociological data by their degree of inaccuracy due to the sampling quality (Zuccarello et al., 1999). Later the same work has been updated and enriched by additional experimental data (Biondi et al., 2004). Nous avons donc pris le concept de «valence écologique» fondé sur la proposition Hesse (1924) pour la communauté animaux et calculées selon la théorie des ensembles flous et la logique floue (théorie des ensembles flous) qui permettent d'interpréter les données phytosociologiques par leur degré d'imprécision due à la qualité de l'échantillonnage (Zuccarello et al., 1999). Plus tard, le même travail a été mis à jour et enrichi par de nouvelles données expérimentales (Biondi et al. 2004).

7 Geosynphytosociology is the Plant Landscape Ecology Geosynphytosociology defines the fields of existence of a plant communities for the ecologicals gradients. So we have enlarged the integrated vision of the system by including plant communities in the landscape. La Géosynphytosociologie défini les champs de l'existence des communautées végétales pour les gradients écologiques. Nous sommes passés à élargir la vision du système intégré, en incluant les communautés végétales dans le paysage. We can say that currently there is no approach to the landscape in its complete reality that is more appropriate and scientific than the Phytosociological one. The epistemological approach that characterizes our discipline with the three investigation levels, together with its hierarchical logic are the basis of the rigorous analytical capabilities, in purely ecological terms, of the plant landscape. Nous pouvons dire que actuellement il n'existe pas un approche au paysage dans sa pleine réalité qui est plus approprié et scientifique que celui de la phytosociologie. C'est cette approche épistémologique qui caractérise notre discipline avec les trois niveaux d'investigation, en collaboration avec sa hiérarchie logique sont la base des capacités d'analyse rigoureuse, en termes purement écologiques, du paysage végétal.

12 Microgeosigmetum Inside the Geosigmetum that defines the landscape of an area and that is kind of extensive, there may be local variations (morphological, microclimatic and microedafiche) that are related to changes in a short space of ecological gradients. The vegetation follows this variation of the gradients determining successions of type catenale that give rise to autonomous units of plant landscape and therefore to the micro-geosigmeta (Biondi et al. 1999; Allegrezza 2003; Rivas-Martinez, 2005). A l'intérieur du Geosigmetum qui définit le paysage d'une région il peut y avoir des variations locales (morphologiques, microclimatique et microedafiche) qui sont liés à des changements dans un court espace de gradients écologiques. 14 Synrelevés The synrelevé (corresponding to the phytosociological relevé in classical phytosociology) consists in making a list of the plant communities which are present in homogenous area according to topography and ecological characteristics. As species in a phytosociological relevé, the phytocoenoses (syntaxa) of the sigmarelevé list are quantified according to a scale of spatial occupancy ranging from + to 5. This quantified list represents a unit of Sigmetum or synassociation The synthetic metodology is the same: the sigma-relevés are compared through statistical methods, hierarchized first in detailed and then synthetic tables that allow to obtain a sigmataxonomic scheme. Le synrelevé (correspondant à la relevé phytosociologique classique) consiste à faire une liste des communautés végétales qui sont présents dans la zone homogène en fonction des caractéristiques topographiques et écologiques. Comme les espèces dans un relevé phytosociologique, les phytocénoses (syntaxons) de la liste sigmarelevé sont quantifiés selon une échelle d'occupation spatiale allant de + à 5. Cette liste quantifiée représente une unité de le Sigmetum Le metodology synthétique est le même: les sigma-relevés sont comparés à l'aide de méthodes statistiques, hiérarchisés première tableaux détaillés et de synthèse qui permettent d'obtenir un système de sigma-taxonomique.

15 Unfortunately, the execution on the grounds of sigmarilievo involves large errors because the perspective changes depending on where the detector is positioned as change its field of view. For this reason it is desired to verify the possibility to realize the synrelevés from the mapping of vegetation and other thematic maps related to each other in a GIS environment. Malheureusement, l'exécution sur le terren des sigma-relevés implique des erreurs importantes car la perspective change selon l'endroit où le détecteur est positionné parce que changer son champ de vision. Pour cette raison, il est souhaitable de vérifier la possibilité de réaliser des sigma-relevés à partir de la cartographie de la végétation et d'autres cartes thématiques mise en corrélation dans un environnement SIG. Therefore, for sinphytosociological and geosinphytosociological analysis levels we used the cartographic approach (Hegg & Schneiter (1978) used and modified by Theurillat (1992), in GIS environment, following exactly the analytical and synthetic phase of the geosynphytosociological methodology (Géhu, 1981, 1988; Géhu & Rivas-Martinez, 1981; Biondi, 1996; Blasi et al., 2005; Blasi, 2010; Blasi et al., 2011; Biondi, 2001). Par conséquent, pour les niveaux d'analyse sinphytosociological et geosinphytosociological nous avons utilisé l'approche cartographique de_hegg & Schneiter (1978) utilisées et modifiées par Theurillat (1992), dans un environnement SIG, suivant exactement la phase analytique et synthétique de la méthodologie geosynphytosociological (Géhu, 1981, 1988 ; Géhu & Rivas- Martinez, 1981; Biondi, 1996; Blasi et al., 2005; Blasi, 2010; Blasi et al., 2011; Biondi, 2001).

34 A phytosociological, sinphytosociological and geosinphytosociological mapping information system, is an effective tool capable of: -allow adaptation of habitats and their significance over time, according to different phases of implementation of the Habitats Directive, -connected with EU enlargement, and then, after updating Annex I Dir 92/43/EEC and changes in the Habitat Manual interpretation, while keeping track of changes over time. Le système d'informatique de cartographie, phytosociologique, sinphytosociologiquel et geosinphytosociologique est un outil efficace capable de: - permettre l'adaptation des habitats et de leur importance au fil du temps, selon les différentes phases de la mise en œuvre de la Directive Habitats, - liés à l'élargissement, puis, après la mise à jour Dir 92/43/CEE annexe I et les changements dans l'interprétation manuel pour l'habitat, tout en gardant le suivi des changements au fil du temps.

55 Élaborer des indicateurs pour identifier les terres agricoles à HVN A Common Approach to the Identification of HNV Farming DONNEES SUR LA COUVERT VEGETAL CARACTERISTIQUES DE L AGRICULTURE COMBINAISON Extensivité des formes d agriculture la biodiversité est généralement plus grande sur les terres agricoles gérées de façon extensive. Présence d une végétation semi-naturelle la valeur d un couvert végétal semi-naturel pour la biodiversité, comme on en trouve sur des pâturages non améliorés et des prairies de fauche traditionnelles, est nettement plus grande que celle des terres agricoles soumises à une gestion intensive. Diversité du couvert végétal la biodiversité est nettement plus grande lorsqu il existe une «mosaïque» de couverts végétaux et d utilisations du sol, y compris des cultures extensives, des jachères, une végétation seminaturelle et des éléments paysagers de terres agricoles.

58 Natura 2000 and Pan-European ecological network Natura 2000 is not a real ecological network because it does not include provisions in the sense of spatially or functionally connected territories or sites. The issue of ecological coherence, linear and continuous structures, stepping stones, migration, dispersal and genetic exchange are only touched upon in article 10 of the Habitats Directive. 64 Phytosociology today The different levels of analysis considered here share a uniform method based on bioindication that is expressed by related vegetal species systems. This is the main premise of both phytosociology and ecology. C'est le postulat principal de la phytosociologie aussi que de l'écologie. The bioindicator for phytosociology is therefore a plant community (described by an association), a group of associations with a similar behavior (described by a syntaxonomic unit of a higher hierarchical level) or a system of variously related associations (described by a vegetation series). Dans la phytosociologie, le bioindicateur est la communauté (décrit par l association végétal), un groupe d'associations ayant un comportement similaire (décrit par une unité syntaxonomique de niveau hiérarchique supérieur) ou un système d'associations différemment liées (décrit par la série de végétation) dont l'ensemble donne ainsi naissance à une unité de paysage vegetal (décrit par la geoserie de végétation). According to what has been said above about the widespread development of the discipline, it is evident that the change from the easy identification of communities to their characterization in ecological, dynamic and landscape terms requires a reinterpretation of the concept of association. We thus propose a new definition of association, which may serve to integrate the one proposed by Braun-Blanquet (1928): Le passage de la simple identification des communautés, à leur caractérisation dans le sens écologique, dynamique et paysagère nécessite à mon avis une réinterprétation de la notion d'association dont j'ai récemment proposé une nouvelle définition, par l'intégration avec celle de Braun-Blanquet du 1928.

65 The new association definition The association defines a system of vegetal organisms with a floristic composition that is statistically repetitive (1); it has a range of different features such as the structure (2), the ecological value (significant for different environmental parameters) (3) and the quality of the dynamic and catenal relationships that it has with other communities (4). Especially pertinent for its definition and identification is the characteristic specific complex, consisting of the preferring plants which are particularly linked to it in statistical terms and that are biogeographically and ecologically differential compared to similar synvicariant or geosynvicariant associations (5). «L'association définit un système d'organismes végétaux avec la composition floristique statistiquement répétitive (1), ce qui correspond à un certain nombre d'aspects tels que la structure (2), la valence écologique (important pour les différents paramètres de l'environnement) (3) et la qualité des relations dynamiques et catenales déterminées par les relations avec les autres communautés (4). Particulièrement pertinent pour la définition et l'identification de l'association est le complexe caractéristique spécifique, qui se compose de plantes préférants, qui sont particulièrement liés à l association en termes statistiques et les espèces différentieles. Ces derniers sont des espèces ayant une signification de type biogéographique et écologique par rapport aux associations similaire synvicariants ou geosynvicariants (5)».
