1 COOPÉRATIVE D HABITATION DEMERS La Coopérative d Habitation Demers est une coopérative d habitation de 28 appartements située sur la rue Heather au coin de la 16ième Avenue. Depuis son existence en 1977, elle offre un lieu de résidence à la communauté francophone de Vancouver. Le bâtiment de trois étages comporte des appartements de une, deux et trois chambres à coucher. Un stationnement souterrain est disponible ainsi que des laveuses et sécheuses. Le coût des parts pour les appartements de une, deux et trois chambres à coucher est de $3, $4, et $5, respectivement. Ce montant est dû au moment où le candidat devient membre. La sélection des membres se fait selon les besoins de la coopérative, l attitude du candidat à la vie coopérative et à sa capacité de parler français.

2 COOPERATIVE D HABITATION DEMERS The Coopérative d Habitation Demers is a 28 apartment cooperative housing residence located on Heather Street at the corner of 16 th Avenue. Built in 1977, it has provided a housing heaven for Vancouver s French community. The three-floor building has 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with secured underground parking and laundry facilities. Housing charges, as of 2011 are as follows: Number of bedrooms Square Footage Rent (taxes & cablevision incl.) to 700 sq. ft $ (approx.) to 870 sq. ft $ (approx.) sq. ft $1, (approx.) Housing charges vary according to the square footage of the apartment. Subsidies are available to households where a quarter of the combined gross annual income is lower than the cost of the yearly rent. Membership in the Coop requires that shares be purchased. For a 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartment, the cost of the shares is $3,100.00, $4, and $5, respectively. Shares are refunded when the member leaves the Coop. Candidates for membership are chosen based on the Coop s needs, the attitude of the candidate towards cooperative living and their ability to express themselves in French.
