3 The roots of the project: needs and opportunities A handicap to tackle: Fishermen forced out of work after injury One territory, one culture : Charente Maritime cultural and professional heritage of seafarers and oyster producers One objective: occupational (re)integration, in adapted or sheltered conditions, in marine activities and on harbors

4 The approach: Being visionary, combining pragmatism with ambition proposing innovative and market based solutions to social problems prerequisite: expertise in global and local legal and economic constraints Bringing the beneficiaries to be actors of change and to contribute to answering their needs

5 Building blocks The project holder: Charisma, adaptability a recorded track of competence and qualifications needed for the project Setting the scene: defining the coherent territory Able to create a «competence matrix»: fostering adhesion to the project by external competences Target group of beneficiaries: Maritime professionals (fisheries, oyster prods.) all persons with status of disabled worker. - Geographic - Political - Economical - Administrative - Juridic - Financial a Maritime Territory

9 Focus: Sheltered workshop: «Atelier des Gens de Mer» Number of jobs: 6 FTE Putting «disembarked» fishermen back to work on the harbour Sustaining skilled labour on the harbour Providing services to other sea professionals of the area The workshop fosters and relies on a voluntary approach of its customers communication and conviction the quality provided must match companies not developing this social mission Where Axis 4 comes in! Purchasing adapted equipment to improve efficiency and working conditions Adaptability Successfully addressing the different handicaps Vision Going one step beyond expected achievement Total cost: FLAG: EFF MS

10 Next steps Keeping the course: quality, identity and integration to the local socio economic network Keeping an open eye on emerging needs in the territory, competitors and new opportunities Seizing opportunities such as Axis 4 and the leverage provided by FLAG initiatives (PMO BARVAL cooperation) creation of an equivalent workshop in Arcachon = estimated 60 FTEs created
