2 Le Festival Innu Nikamu est une manifestation culturelle d envergure qui réunit à Mani-Utenam, sur une grande et vibrante scène extérieure, des artistes autochtones et non-autochtones de tout le continent. Du 30 juillet au 02 août 2015 se succèderont musiciens, interprètes, compositeurs, danseurs, conteurs, rappeurs et ainés s accompagnant au tambour traditionnel devant un auditoire conquis de plusieurs milliers de festivaliers. Sur le site, différents kiosques offrent aux visiteurs de l artisanat, des mets ou des démonstrations du savoir-faire culturel d ici et d ailleurs. Connu et reconnu dans les communautés depuis ses débuts, l édition 2014 a marqué l entrée d Innu Nikamu parmi les événements phares de l espace culturel québécois et nord-américain. Cette année, nous nous donnons la mission de perpétuer cette reconnaissance en vous invitant à contribuer concrètement au maintien et au rayonnement de l événement. The Innu Nikamu Festival is a major cultural event that brings, in Mani-Utenam on a large and vibrant outdoor stage, Aboriginal and non-aboriginal artists from across the continent. From July 30 to August 2, 2015, dozens of musicians, composers, dancers, storytellers, rappers and elders accompanied with the traditional drum will perform in front of a captivated audience of thousands of festival goers. On the site, various booths offer visitors crafts, food and demonstrations of cultural skills from here and elsewhere. Recognized by all First Nations since its inception, the 2014 edition marked the entry of Innu Nikamu among the highlights of the Quebec and American cultural space This year, we give ourselves the mission to perpetuate this recognition by inviting you to effectively contribute to the development and prestige of the event.

Lorsque j ai été approché pour agir comme coprésident d honneur de ce tournoi, j ai immédiatement compris que ce n était pas pour chanter, danser ou animer (Heureusement, puisque cette levée de fonds aurait été le plus grand désastre depuis le Titanic). Je m en voudrais le reste de mes jours de ne pas rendre honneur à cet événement phare non seulement pour la Nation Innue, mais aussi pour l ensemble des Premières Nations de même que pour tous les artisans de la scène culturelle. En tant que co-président d honneur du 2ème Tournoi de golf annuel en support au Festival Innu Nikamu, je vous invite tous à participer en grand nombre et à confirmer notre rendez-vous dans la magnifique région de Charlevoix le plus rapidement possible. Les co-présidents de cette année se complètent bien: Je m occuperai de la portion sport et le Chef Jean-Charles Pietacho des portions culturelles et sociales (Il en a plus sur les épaules, certainement, puisqu il est Chef...). When I was approached to act as honorary cochair of this tournament, I immediately realized that it was not to sing, dance or host (Fortunately, since the fundraiser would have been the greatest disaster since the Titanic.) I would regret it for the rest of my days if I didn t honour this event - a flagship not only for the Innu Nation, but also for all First Nations as well as for all the artisans of the cultural scene. As honorary co-chair of the 2nd Annual Golf Tournament in support of the Innu Nikamu Festival, I invite you all to participate and to confirm our rendezvous in the beautiful Charlevoix region as quickly as possible. The co-chairs of this year complement each other well: I take care of the sports side while Chief Jean-Charles Pietacho is responsible for the cultural and social portions. Close to my community of Ekuanitshit, this local festival has promoted the diverse talents of all First Nations and has hosted several important names in the music industry. Innu Nikamu has become much more than an annual celebration. It is an inspiring, respected and authentic tradition, which has continued to this day, 31 years later. As Chief of the Innu community of Ekuanitshit and festival-goer since its inception, I care deeply about the future of Innu Nikamu.
