2 Edito Chers lecteurs nous revoici pour le deuxième numéro de «What s up a l ILCS». Notre institut est en pleine effervescence, les examens approchent, et les soutenances de projet de fin d études aussi. Pour beaucoup il s agira de faire leurs premiers pas dans le monde professionnel, et nombreux sont ceux a qui la formation a l ILCS a offert des opportunités d expériences professionnelles exceptionnelles. De nombreux étudiants ont eu l occasion de travailler avec Hors-Limite Organisations, en charge du renommé «Festival Mawazine». La prochaine édition aura lieu à Rabat du 15 an 23 Mai, et les étudiants de l ILCS participeront a son succès, car leurs prestations lors de l édition 2008 en tant qu hôtesses d accueil, et accompagnateurs ont été très appréciées par les organisateurs. Nous souhaitons donc à tous une bonne réussite dans tous leurs projets. Par ailleurs, vos commentaires et suggestions lors de la sortie de notre premier numéro nous ont été très précieux. 3 Interventions Home of the Intellectuals, Leaders, and Champions, built for Success (ILCS) is our beloved school ILCS. This is where students careers are shaped up for a brighter future. ILCS students are the center of our interest and we take each student s progress to the heart, our students are our hope to make this world a better place to live in. Each and every one of us is responsible to provide full support for our students and leave no-one behind whatsoever. I have witnessed through out the terms that our students have actually been experiencing great improvements in terms of their conceptual, human and technical skills. We are working hard to continuously improve our capabilities. We promise to keep on researching to devise the most appropriate programs. We are determined to meet the highest global standards in higher education. It is our duty as founders, managers, staff and professors to work day in and day out to secure a pleasant work environment for students to excel in their career paths. I believe that we have got the right resources, the right people and the right energy to become amongst the most prestigious schools in the country, so help us GOD. When I think back to my arrival at ILCS I recall first the atmosphere. Immediately I realized that the student body resembled a close knit family. Located in a single building, ILCS students are always in contact with one another and with professors. My new classmates quickly and graciously welcomed and accepted me as I slowly became accustomed to this new life. In the classroom I found interactive discussions about an array of topics ranging from marketing strategies to intercultural communication conflicts. One will be exposed to an assortment of varying viewpoints, as there are many international students, all eager to share their thoughts and opinions. Something that I noticed about the students here is that they are all highly motivated and goal oriented, the sort of students that I can imagine being very successful in their future endeavors. Unfortunately my time here is limited. However, my experiences in this exchange program, namely those at ILCS, have prompted my intention of returning. Without a doubt this exchange has been a life changing event, one that I will not soon forget.

4 Community Work One week in TIKHFST willage «It s easy to translate words but it is too difficult to translate emotions and pains» Miss Hanine said sharing with us a touching experience in the world of community work. It was Monday at 8 AM in TIKHFST village near Marrakech, when the experience has started with a group of American doctors, in collaboration with ILCS, «Action urgence» and «Al Baraka» Associations. We were all there to provide medical help to people dying because of cold, poverty, diseases and the most alarming is ignorance that kills many of them. every minute with love, grace and gratitude this is what she discovered and she experienced in this opportunity ; «happiness is not something you experience, it s something you remember.» she concluded. Miss Hanine was there to enssure a successful communication between doctors and people of the village therefore her main task was to translate. Asking her about the hard times doing her task she answered with hidden tears: «when I feel unable to translate people s pains». «we stood in front of cases in which we all cried such as a pregnant woman that has already five children, she has a heart disease and the goiters and the worse is that she is unaware of the danger in which she and her baby in». Shocking situations push us always to think about how lucky we are, and how stupid we can be in front of our trivial problems. Miss Hanin resume her words talking about real special moments in which smiles are from the bottom of the heart : «organizing social activities with the children, having dinners all together with people of the village and looking to their smiles full of thankful words and nice emotions was unforgettable for me» Miss Hanin explained. «What I have learned is, when we are most unhappy, there is something for us to do in the world. As long as we can sweeten other s pain, life is not in vain.» our colleague said. 6 Internships AIESEC Exchange What is AIESEC Exchange? How does it work? AIESEC Exchange is a unique work abroad program, which offers the AIESEC members high quality internships. What you need is an open mind, 150 study points and an age under 30 years old. The basic idea is that the AIESEC committees in each country raise jobs for the AIESEC members coming from other countries. The jobs are collected in an international database, limited to the use of AIESEC trainees and the people involved in the process. Once you have been accepted to the program you have 6 months to find yourself a place. The internships The program offers you 4 different types of work opportunities, depending on your field of study and previous experience: Management Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to management, such as finance, accounting, marketing, project management, organizational management or human resources. Development Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to community development issues, such as children s rights, environmental issues, education, rural development and entrepreneurship. Technical Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to information technology or engineering projects. Technical skills, experience and expertise are required to participate in this type of internship. Education Internship provides the opportunity to work in areas related to education, such as teaching a language, teaching a subject, curriculum development, character development, career counseling, cultural interaction and perspective promotion in academic fields or sectors. You must have academic and working backgrounds in the field of education. The Support AIESEC as an organization is there to support you throughout your experience. In Finland you will take part in a preparation seminar. We will help you in the application process, in the general preparations and in finding the suitable job. In your destination you will be welcomed by AIESEC members, who will help you with the local procedures. You don t have to worry about spending your time alone; the AIESEC members are there for you. Besides the social network, the local AIESEC may prove very valuable in case you ran into any problems at your destination, which of course is unwished for And once you come back to Finland, you have naturally the opportunity to go through and share your experience with your own local AIESEC committee. This will help you to complete your AIESEC Experience. What makes the program so unique? The Variety: The program offers altogether thousands of possibilities for internationally orientated young people. The classification of internships makes it easier to find the job just for you. 8 Portrait Sanae Elouadoudi : portrait d une ambitieuse Ambitieuse et sûre d elle, Sanae fréquente assidument L ILCS depuis deux ans. Cette jeune fille, toute en rondeur, s ouvre a nous dans les locaux de son école. «Je suis Sanae, 21 ans, casaoui d origine, un frère et une sœur mais hélas pas marié». Telle est la manière dont se définit cette étudiante en communication et marketing. Elle résume les choses importantes a sa famille, ses amis, «et mon copain» ajoutet elle avec un grand sourire. Très investie dans ses études, elle déplore le fait de manquer de culture générale. «Je rêve de devenir un grand chef d entreprise.», nous confie-t-elle en vantant son sérieux, sa disponibilité, son honnêteté et sa persévérance. Elle admet être très sensible a ce qu on pense d elle, d où sa grande susceptibilité. Elle prétend aussi avoir un 6eme sens, «J ai de l intuition par rapport aux gens avec moi c est j aime ou je n aime pas!». Sanae communique à travers le rire, il n est pas rare de la voir s esclaffer au milieu de ses amis qu elle aime autant que sa famille. Généreuse dans l âme, elle aime aider et adore qu on lui dise merci. C est avec un sentiment maternel qu elle traite ses proches. «C est ma personnalité, je suis profondément bonne». Son altruisme la fait se révolter sur certaines causes comme le chômage, mais aussi la pauvreté. Sanae dénonce ainsi la prostitution masculine, infantile, et féminine apparue avec la venue des riches habitants des pays du Golfe. Selon elle il ne s agit, ni plus ni moins, que d un tourisme sexuel. Pour elle il y a beaucoup d hypocrisie dans la société, autour de la religion notamment. Elle admet ne pas être pratiquante mais croire profondément en Dieu, sur la question du foulard elle soutient que son port est obligatoire, mais incompatible avec une carrière dans le domaine de la communication. Une carrière qu elle entend faire au plus haut niveau, c est pour cette raison qu elle compte entreprendre un Master «Je veux être citée parmi les femmes leaders au Maroc. Inchallah!» Lalla Sy

9 My City AIT LKAK In this second edition of our Magazine, we are going to explore together the home town of our collegue and friend Jamila Boussata Ait Lkak is a small village located in the outsiders of marrakech city. It s about 64km from Marrakech city and about 11km before Oukaimden the very famous sky station in Marrakech. It s populaton is about 35O person and the majority of them are illeterate. Their origin is Amazigh and their mother tangue is Amazigh just a few minorities who does speak Arabic(Moroccan Arabic). They are living from agricuture and the majority of them are cattlemen jamila said describing her village. She added that people in her village still stick on the traditions, they are living as one family since there is a limited number of population in ait lkak, they are known by a special music called AHWASH, some girls and boys from the village were dancing and singing, wearing some traditional clothes(caftans and djellabas). jamila did pass a community work in her village AIT LAKAK with an American group from Lock Heaven University of Pensylvania, her main job was helping the Americain students to communicate with the people of village, she was translating from English to Amazigh and Arabic, doing a community work in her village it was really a good opportunity to better know her village and discover many new things about its population even if she was living there. Helping someone who is really in need is really a good job.it make you feel happy and very satisfied because you are participating in making those people feel happy and feel they are not forgetten and marginalized but there is someone who cares about.

10 Interview *».Big things come in small packages «*Les grandes choses viennent dans de petits emballages Beatrice Ourahou a rejoint l ILCS au début de l année Ce petit bout de femme a su imposer une méthode de travail qui n était pas partie pour faire l unanimité. Si elle reconnaît être stricte, sévère, voire autoritaire, elle n en est pas moins juste. Son interview s est déroulée à bâtons rompus. En toute sincérité. - Quelle est votre formation? Après un DEUG d Espagnol obtenu à l Université de Lettres de la ville de Bordeaux, je suis «montée» à Paris pour passer un concours à l Université d Assas afin d être admise en Licence d Information et de Communication puis de décrocher, l année d après, mon diplôme de Maîtrise. Par la suite, j ai suivi une formation de journalisme d environ une année au Centre de Formation et de Perfectionnement des Journalistes (CFPJ) de Paris. - A propos de journalisme, peut-on parler d une vocation chez vous? Plutôt que de vocation, je parlerais de continuité. Ayant exercé pendant une dizaine d années en tant qu attachée de presse puis conseil en communication, je me suis rendue compte que ce qui me plaisait le plus, c était de rédiger (communiqués, dossiers de presse, newsletters, etc.). C est donc tout naturellement que je me suis orientée vers le métier de journaliste en sachant, qu outre la rédaction, cette profession me permettait d être reliée en permanence à l information, à l actualité, autres domaines, pour moi, de prédilection. - Qu est-ce qui vous amené au Maroc? Mon mari. Bien que j ai eu le temps de me préparer (psychologiquement!) à ce changement de vie, j avais un petit avantage : je séjournais régulièrement au Maroc, car toute ma famille est originaire de Casablanca. Néanmoins, passer des vacances tous les ans au Maroc et y vivre, ça n est pas tout à fait la même chose - Avez-vous ressenti un choc des cultures (France/Maroc)? Des différences plutôt. Mais c est normal. En même temps, la France est un pays latin, il y a donc pas mal de points communs entre les deux pays. - Qu est ce qui vous manque de votre ancienne vie? Sans doute le côté laïque de la France auquel je suis très attachée, où la religion relève du domaine privé et n est pas omniprésente dans la vie de tous les jours, qu elle soit publique, sociale ou personnelle. Ce qui ne me manque pas, en revanche, ce sont la grisaille et le froid parisiens! Comment avez-vous «atterri» à L ILCS? C est le rédacteur en chef du magazine Diplomatica, où je travaille actuellement, qui m a parlé de cette proposition d enseigner les techniques de rédaction journalistique et professionnelle au sein de l école.

11 Interview - Que vous apporte cette expérience? Beaucoup de tracas! Mais j espère aussi, au final, quelques satisfactions. Je m implique énormément dans la tâche qui m est impartie et j ai parfois un sentiment de frustration face au manque de rigueur ou d attention que je constate en classe. Mon principal but, à l ILCS, est de transmettre, à chacun des élèves présents, un savoir faire, une connaissance qui, un jour ou l autre, pourront leur servir dans leur vie professionnelle. - Avez-vous des chouchous? En aucun cas! Cela n est ni dans mes principes ni dans ma manière de procéder. Chacun de mes élèves compte et j essaie, dans la mesure du possible, de faire sortir le meilleur des possibilités de chacun d entre eux. - Comment avez-vous trouvé votre emploi au sein du magazine Diplomatica? m accordent leur confiance et apprécient mon travail. Je n ai pas à me plaindre. - Que pensez-vous du paysage médiatique Marocain? Je le trouve très diversifié et, dans l ensemble, de qualité. Les journaux et magazines comme Tel Quel, Femmes du Maroc, L Economiste, Challenge hebdo n ont rien à envier à la presse écrite française. - Selon vous qu a-t il de positif et/ou de négatif? De positif, une vraie liberté de ton. De négatif, une certaine censure pas toujours justifiée et souvent disproportionnée. - Comment voyez-vous l avenir? Il faut que je consulte mon horoscope! En envoyant une candidature spontanée. -En quoi consiste votre travail? En tant que rédactrice du magazine, mon travail, en collaboration avec le rédacteur en chef, est de rédiger des articles sur la base, entre autres, de communiqués de presse (de la MAP ou des différents ministères du Maroc), de réaliser des interviews, de faire des comptes rendus d expositions, de spectacles ou d événements qui ont eu lieu dans le Royaume, etc. Mon rôle consiste également à m occuper de l habillage de l information, en élaborant les titres, les chapôs, les légendes... des différents articles. - Comment s est passée votre intégration au travail? 12 Key Words Motivation Motivation is considered as one of the major keys to success. In fact, behind any acts, deeds, or wills there is always a motivation that pushes everyone to be engaged in achieving then. Thus, it is so important to know how to motivate oneself, but how to avoid discouragement as well. The most useful way to motivate oneself is to visualize success. Actually, it is by thinking of or setting any goal that one would like to achieve, the bigger and the more attractive the better. Perhaps it is already in reach. Perhaps it isn t. Firstly, it is very crucial to believe in the qualities and the competencies you already have and this will help you to achieve all your goals. In fact, it is by adhering to positive thinking about yourself, you are sure that if you have failed once it doesn t mean that you are not able to achieve success since all humans learn through trial and errors. More importantly is to trust one s ability to overcome failure and change it into a brilliant success. The second step is to visualize one s achievement. So, after thinking about your goals and your competencies take few minute reflecting on the reasons or advantages that achieving your goal will bring you. Then close your eyes and imagrine that you have achieved that goal. ourselves and we have clear objectives but others or circumstances can be disincentive. In fact, We all agree that a rigid boss can un-motivate her/ his staff; Also, stern grading structures can be disincentive to students as well as the fact of ignoring them by not showing interest in what they are doing or simply by not showing them how to improve themselves. However and as some of us have studied in interpersonal communication, everyone has to believe that they are the only owner of their emotions, that is to say if others un-motivated you, you have accepted to be un-motivated. In other words, the best motivation should be intrinsic taking source from inside and ought to be reinforced by a strong faith in one s ability to succeed. Finally as success can t be cahived unless you draw it by your hands ; it is up to us to design personally and professionally the right path to achieve it. May be the best piece of advise to be given is: Motivate yourself, control your life and get there. 14 Reportage La Fondation Orient-Occident Une approche humanitaire face au problème de l immigration Le phénomène de l immigration clandestine et son lot de drames se sont accrus au fil des années. Aujourd hui, cette problématique est au cœur de l action de la Fondation Orient-Occident qui accueille clandestins et réfugiés de l Afrique subsaharienne, ainsi que ceux d Algérie et d Irak, dans ses cinq centres situés à travers la Royaume. L un d entre eux est à Rabat. Il est, avec les autres, plus que jamais d utilité publique. Il y a 3 ans, la Fondation Orient-Occident démarrait son programme d immigration. Aidée en cela par le Haut Commissariat des Nations Unies pour les réfugiés (HCR), elle implante une première structure d accueil pour les migrants. Qu ils soient réfugiés, demandeurs d asile ou sans papiers, ils sont nombreux à dépendre d une assistance à la fois psychologique et financière de la part de la Fondation. Il faut savoir que ces migrants ne sont pas pourvus de carte de séjour, il leur est donc impossible de trouver du travail, d accéder à des soins médicaux, louer une maison ou encore s inscrire dans un établissement scolaire ou universitaire. Cependant, la carte de réfugié fournie par le HCR leur permet une certaine mobilité, car ils ne peuvent sortir des frontières du Royaume sans risquer de ne plus pouvoir y pénétrer. Ainsi les migrants subsahariens rencontrent de nombreux problèmes, notamment d intégration. C est dans ce sens que la Fondation a mis à leur disposition plusieurs centres d accueil au Maroc, dont un situé à Rabat. Ce dernier fonctionne à plusieurs niveaux. Cela commence d abord par la lutte contre le SIDA et les maladies sexuellement transmissibles (MST). Dans ce domaine, il s agit presque d une éducation à refaire face à une population particulièrement exposée. L exercice de leur droit pose aussi problème dans la mesure où beaucoup ignorent les obligations découlant de la procédure de demande d asile. Par conséquent, une aide juridique leur est octroyée. Bon nombre de subsahariens arrivent sur le sol marocain avec des traumatismes et plus particulièrement des femmes. Elles qui ont souvent été victimes d exclusion et d isolement sont écoutées par des psychologues. Afin de les armer pour mieux affronter leur environnement quelquefois hostile, l apprentissage des langues leur est nécessaire ; elles suivent ainsi des cours de français et d arabe. Les femmes sont encouragées à devenir autonomes, elles peuvent se regrouper en coopératives pour vendre de l artisanat, faire de la coiffure ou de l esthétique. Ces exemples soulignent à quel point la formation professionnelle jou e un rôle primordial dans la prise en charge

15 Reportage de ces réfugiés ou demandeurs d asile. Chaque centre offre ses spécialités après une sélection des plus aptes à les suivre. Celui de Rabat forme des candidats pour la maintenance informatique, mais aussi en télémarketing, et propose des formations aux métiers de la santé. L insertion par l emploi est la valeur la plus sûre pour rendre ces migrants quelque peu indépendants financièrement. La création de petites entreprises est aussi très prisée en ce qui concerne le commerce migrants l opportunité d exposer des œuvres artistiques, mettre en scène des spectacles et des chorégraphies ou encore participer à des conférences sur d es thèmes rattachés à l Afrique. L action de la Fondation Orient- Occident contraste avec les images et les témoignages qui nous viennent des frontières de Sebta et Melilla ou de ces barques de la mort que sont les «pateras». Elle ne vend pas du rêve, mais rend leur humanité et leur dignité à des hommes, des femmes, des ou la prestation de service. L.D. est une réfugiée d o r i g i n e l i b é r i e n n e qui, grâce au soutien financier de la Fondation Orient-Occident, a réussi à monter un projet de coiffure à domicile ; elle tresse les cheveux, tisse Locaux de Fondation à Yakoub Al Manssour des extensions et applique des défrisages. Sa clientèle, dit-elle, est autant marocaine que d origine enfants qui fuient des lieux de guerre et de misère pour un avenir meilleur. subsaharienne, et ne cesse de s élargir grâce aux contacts qu elle établit par le biais de la Fondation.
