Chapleau Express, April 29, 2006 - Page 8 Mr. James Petrosky was the 2005 recipient of the Dr. William R. Pellow Masonic Bursary. James wrote me these comments: The Bursary which I was awarded has helped me out tremendously. The opportunity to go through my first year of University without having to worry about money and focus on my studies was very helpful. Again, I thank you Dr. Pellow and the Masons, for assisting me in my studies. James is enrolled in nanoengineering at the University of Waterloo. Nanoengineering is the patterning of material making practical products from precise control of atoms and molecules and extending this process to design larger and more complex materials. James has entered a very sophisticated engineering course and we wish him well. Application forms for the 2006 Chapleau Masonic Bursary are available from the Secretary at the Chapleau High School. Final year CHS students that meet the criteria are eligible for this bursary valued at $3000 A little information about Freemasonry! Hot Dogs proceeds to Chapleau Cubs & Scouts Stay entertained on weekends away (NC) As the summer gears up and city dwellers head to their weekend homes for some rest and r e l a x a t i o n, t h e conveniences of digital living don't have to be left behind in the living room. Families are increasingly seeing the value in updating their summer homes with personal video recorders (PVR) and flat screen televisions that take entertainment to the next level. In particular, PVR technology has really picked-up in the last five years. PVRs allow users to digitally store up to 90 hours of TV shows, watch them at a later time and pause, fast forward and rewind programs and commercial breaks at the touch of a button. Perfect for those who prefer spending the day by the dock, but don't want to miss their favourite shows. According to Ron Zisu, a buyer at The Source By Circuit City, one of Canada's largest electronic retailers, some PVR terminals even allow users to record two programs simultaneously in superior digital quality. "Weekend vacationers don't have to compromise t h e i r e n t e r t a i n m e n t experience," says Zisu. "PVR technology enables people to throw away their outdated VCRs with their average quality playback and get clean, sharp, digital pictures with five times the resolution of ordinary television." Flat panel TVs are also a hot item for summer home owners this year. Unlike traditional CRT TVs, flat panels are slim in size and can be mounted on the wall so they don't consume as much space. They also allow viewers to watch television of higher resolution and with better picture quality from various viewing angles. "A bright, sunlit room or lamp light won't cause a glare on a flat panel screen, and since flat panels have a 160 degree viewing angle, the picture will look good when viewed from any point 80 degrees in either direction from the centre of the display," says Chris Corcoran, TV buyer at The Source By Circuit City. Today's home theater technologies will k e e p y o u r f a m i l y entertained and happy while at the cottage. - News Canada
