A painter, grown old - especially if he has worked hard throughout his life - has what the French call bagage. Faced with a new space, new shapes, a different landscape, he knows how to approach a new world efficiently, perhaps even happily, stimulated and surprised by the joy of discovery. But all this can only take place with light, the soul of the landscape - and if this light is also new, the painter is suddenly in a quandary. He is confronted not with having to re-learn everything that he already knows, but rather with having to forget everything he knows, which compels him to look, not using his knowledge and his experience, but with the innocence of a child. It is no easy task. This light that bathes the landscape and fills his eyes, plunges him into a new adventure. What better dream is there for a painter than to be rejuvenated and hence suddenly dispossessed? This is what happened to me in Sicily, where the light took me back to being a young painter again. In conclusion, I want to say: thank you with all my heart to those who have made this irreplaceable experience possible.
