Centres de Compétence Technique Informatique & Réseaux Embarqués CCT IRE WORKSHOP GROUND COMPUTER NETWORK PRINCIPLES APPLIED TO SPACE AVIONICS: THE CNES EXPERIMENT 24th of April 2014. 9AM to 12AM. Toulouse 23, avenue Edouard Belin, Toulouse Since a decade ago, several initiatives have been launched to lessen the burden of avionics system development on space missions. Those initiatives, inspired by proven solutions implemented in the aircraft and automotive domains, all seek similar objectives: Improve the avionics subsystem modularity Allow the reuse of generic components ( building blocks ) between different projects Promote the development of standard specifications and interfaces Improve the flexibility of the avionics subsystem to account to different mission needs Allow for later definition of the avionics subsystem in the project life cycle The DAPAR (for the French: Démonstrateur de l Architecture et Paradigme de l Avionique Routée ) approach is completely inscribed within this trend and shares these same objectives. The distinctive feature of DAPAR is that it takes the inspiration from the most ubiquitous of today s information exchange systems: ground computer networks. This CCT workshop will describe how the concepts and use cases from ground computer networks have been adapted to the avionics use case in the DAPAR approach, and what benefits can be derived from them. During several years, a demonstrator was built with a custom software and 2 embedded CPU nodes. The results of this experiment will be presented during this workshop. The preliminary conclusion is that the DAPAR approach can be implemented with low-cost general purpose hardware and meet the initial objectives on avionics system modularity, flexibility and late development. 3/6 Centres de Compétence Technique Informatique & Réseaux Embarqués Animation CCT IRE LES PRINCIPES DES RESEAUX INFORMATIQUES APPLIQUE A L AVIONQUE : LE PROJET DAPAR 24th Avril 2014. 9h à 12h. Toulouse 23, avenue Edouard Belin, Toulouse Depuis 10 ans, plusieurs initiatives visent à diminuer le poids de l avionique au sein des missions spatiales. Ces initiatives sont souvent inspirées des domaines aéronautiques ou automobiles et poursuivent les objectifs suivants : Améliorer la modularité et la flexibilité des unités avioniques. Baser les avioniques sur des building blocks communs à plusieurs satellites. Développer des interfaces standards à chaque sous système. Permettre une définition tardive du système avionique dans la vie du projet. Le projet DAPAR, Démonstrateur de l Architecture et Paradigme de l Avionique Routée, est complètement inscrit dans cette approche et vise tous ces objectifs. La caractéristique principale de DAPAR est qu il est basé sur une technique sol mature et performante: les réseaux informatiques. Cette animation décrira comment les concepts des réseaux informatiques sols ont été adaptés à l avionique spatiale dans le projet DAPAR et quels en sont les avantages. Ce projet est le fruit d un travail de plusieurs années, au cours desquelles a été développé un dispositif expérimental complet intégrant un logiciel dédié et de réels nœuds de calcul embarqué. Les résultats prometteurs de cette expérience seront présentés au cours de l animation. La conclusion préliminaire est que l approche DAPAR peut être implémentée avec des cartes calculateurs low-cost tout en atteignant les objectifs initiaux d une avionique modulaire, flexible et rapide à développer. Cette animation se déroulera à l Institut Aéronautique et Spatial (IAS), proche de l entrée principale du CNES.
